  1. wonder if they'll have to take Assad out even if he finishes the inning
  2. Seiya! Edit: all is forgiven (though as TT pointed out, nothing to forgive really)
  3. I thought it was fairly obvious it was going to land out of play, but he reached over the fence and grabbed it, costing a run
  4. gotta be done... need a couple more runs too to not have to burn any regular guys, especially with Fulmer out
  5. dang, Wicks was perfect after that mound visit
  6. what a piece of hitting from Bellinger... it's swings like that that make me not so worried about the underlying batted ball metrics. He seems to have a legitimate talent for things like that
  7. So glad the offense is doing this in support of Wicks... has to give him all kinds of confidence to go out there and pitch
  8. this ump's strike zone is trash, but it seems to be helping the Cubs more than the Pirates
  9. 1st pitch to Bellinger after 3 straight walks is a gift of a strike
  10. Hoping for 4+ innings and no more than 3 runs given up... anything better will be great
  11. I mean, if you can't score 3 runs against a bad team, you don't deserve to win... but that was a horsefeathers call
  12. Feels like Ross might have tried to squeeze one inning too many out of his starter... again
  13. The number of former Cubs farmhands floating around in bullpens is pretty impressive... Z, Hatch, Jackson, Brooks Raley, Tayler Scott, Pierce Johnson, Paul Blackburn (starting in OAK), Duane Underwood Jr., Bryan Hudson, Tyson Miller, Alex Lange, and Cory Abbott are all bouncing around... not to mention any international signings that I can't name off the top of my head
  14. another early-round Cubs draft pick who didn't work out for the Cubs in the game...
  15. A trade for Alonso seems like a good place to use a guy like Alcantara. Maybe add a Gallardo/Franklin type and Christian Hernandez or Ed Howard? Is that too much? A good prospect at the top, a decent mid-rotation type pitching prospect, and a MI prospect who has lost a little luster
  16. 7 homers, 15 ER in his last 3 starts according to Boog
  17. I remember seeing some forfeit lineups under Maddon and Dusty... right now it seems like a forfeit lineup every time Smyly starts
