  1. I think if you understood it that well, you would have used Rodman to make your case about Wallace in the first place. Oh but as a Chicagoan and bulls fan I was actually able to remember Dennis Rodman as well. Then you should also realize that when he was younger Rodman also happened to help defend MJ. Ben Wallace couldn't have defended MJ in his dreams
  2. Houston can move inside too, right? Yup the Raiders played him inside often. Good point I wouldnt be surprised if he was the 3 technique when the Bears are playing traditional 4-3 If Houston is 270 and Young 250, I expect they'll only do that on passing downs. Houston's nfl.com bio has him at 300 http://www.nfl.com/player/lamarrhouston/496794/profile
  3. That Malcolm Hill charge was epic. How do you charge a guy who is laying on the ground? C'mon, that was a foul. He rammed over his defender. his defender whose feet were barely on the ground and thus could not have been set
  4. I think I would rank them as follows : E, A, B, C, D, H, F, G... but man it just seems like a jumble of really similar teams
  5. I've seen him dunk, but not show any handles or shot. I find it hard to believe he's better than Marty b or Werewolf. Yeah, Martellus was a 4 star basketball recruit who at one point actually declared for the NBA draft out of hs, though he did withdraw.
  6. Contraction would likely help, but it's not going to happen when guys are lined up to buy into the NBA. You could put any team up for sale right now and there would be a bidding war over it.
  7. http://www.bleachernation.com/2014/03/03/since-spring-training-is-for-fun-watch-javier-baez-destroy-a-baseball/ Brett posted the video over at BN... what a bomb
  8. If Rose hadn't been hurt, the Bulls would be starting 4 guys they drafted (Rose, Butler, Deng, Noah) with Taj coming off the bench OKC has drafted KD, Westbrook, and Ibaka, and initially got good with Harden, whom they drafted San Antonio drafted Duncan, Parker, Manu, Kawhi Leonard Portland drafted Aldridge, Lillard, Nic Batum Indy drafted Hibbert, George, and Lance Stephenson While that's not a huge list of homegrown guys, and many of those guys were drafted after the teams got top 5 picks (KD, Westbrook, Rose, Duncan, Aldridge)... But that's what happens, you still have to pick the right guys when you're at the top of the draft. And those are, after Miami, probably 5 (in this hypothetical non-injured DRose scenario) of the 6 or 7 next best teams Bulls - Got good when they got Rose. Not when they draft top 5 every year for 7 straight years. Spurs - Got lucky that D Robinson got hurt in the year Duncan came out. OKC - Got lucky Durant didnt go #1 that year. A core of Oden/Westbrook/Ibaka would challenge for an 8 seed. Indy - Traded Jermaine Oneal for Hibbert. Otherwise a good example of taking mid first roudners and adding quality vets in free agency. Other than Spurs (and lets be honest they lucked into one of the greatest players of all time)these teams have 0 titles and 2 final appearences. Other teams of note: Heat - 3 titles purchased through free agency. Celtics - free agency Mavs - Won in dirk's 13 year with FA vets Chandler/Kidd/Terry/Marion/Stevenson LA - Shaq and Pau. Superstars with veteran supporting casts win in the NBA. Not young players and not through the lottery. Hibbert was essentially picked by Indy, because the trade of O'neal to Toronto was completed as soon as he was picked. Toronto picked him for the Pacers. And while other than the Spurs there are no titles, the Heat are (and have been) a serious Lebron injury away from being just another also-ran. And the argument wasn't about title winning teams, You asked what good teams did so through the draft, and I named 5 top teams that have pretty much done just that. Yes, they have supplemented their drafted players through free agency and they have picked at the top of the draft to get their big time stars, but that is exactly what teams like Philly are hoping to do. If Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins gets drafted by the 76ers or whoever and becomes a star, then they can add some pieces beside them and be competing for a title.

  10. You can immediately classify as worthless any list that has Sano ahead of Baez, much less by 10 spots. Let's not forget Kyle Zimmer as the #4 prospect or Tyler Glasnow ahead of both Baez and Bryant. or the laughable idea that there are 14 prospects better than Baez
  11. seriously, this game has been an affront to all basketball at all levels
  12. What a pass by Kaner for that Pavelski goal
  13. Rozsival looks like he's 40 in that picture, especially compared to Kane who looks about 13...
  14. this Illini season feels like hat Iowa's last season was described to be... lots of losses where they're in the game and cannot close to save their lives... maybe next year with the added depth and experience the Illini can be a top-15 type team like Iowa is this year
  15. I haven't researched enough to know the drop off of talent but I feel one impact defender will be there at our spot . Not sure about 30 and I'd rather get the impact guy. Yeah 30 would probably be too far. Probably miss out on all of Ealy, Nix, Ford, Hageman, Clinton-Dix, Pryor, Gilbert, Dennard, and maybe even Aaron Donald. Jernigan?
  16. Surely Samardzija is going to be moved now. No sense in keeping him around for the next 2 years when the best we can realistically hope for is some fringe contention in 2015 if the young guys come up and are awesome
  17. Brett on Twitter, being all rational and stuff.
  18. I wasn't commenting on the nature of their suspensions, just on the fact that they had been suspended. That said, they're idiots for being caught with pot when they can be suspended for it regardless of whether or not it's legal in Washington state. Also, Browner has surely cost himself millions of dollars just because he couldn't stay away from it. And yeah, the Broncos don't have a sterling reputation themselves, but doubling up the number of suspensions is still kinda over the top.
  19. I voted Cubs because I have to believe. I used to enjoy caring about the Cubs a lot more than I have recently, and I'd like to feel that way again.
  20. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/100145/seahawks-lead-in-ped-bans-under-carroll That was in May 2013, there had been 5 suspensions at that point (2010-2013 Pete Carroll's entire tenure) and that didn't count Sherman getting off on the Ryan Braun Memorial "they didn't properly collect/handle the sample" defense. Since then, Thurmond and Browner have both been suspended (Browner for a year, but in fairness only because of a technicality due to missing a drug test while not even playing in the NFL, it was only his second positive test, iirc which would normally be a 4 game suspension at worst) Yeah, they chalk up many of those those suspensions to Adderall, but I don't think I'm the only one who finds it curious that, golly, all these NFL players need to take Adderall and have a prescription for it and just forget to get it approved by the NFL even though so many people have been suspended for that reason.
  21. love this 4 starting on the ice in OT
  22. I just don't get it... even if you believe that Javy moves off of SS, does anybody think he won't be at least a solid 3B? An average (or slightly above average) defensive 3B that can hit .270 with 40 bombs and a solid OBP because he's being pitched around and can steal bases is, in my opinion, much more valuable than a SS who plays GG defense and hits .300 with 10-15 HRs with a solid OBP and steals some bases you may want to pump the brakes a little there with your expectations but it's worth mentioning that it's possible to hit 30 HRs and still not be hugely valuable; see: Trumbo, Mark well yeah, and I admit that that's like best outcome Javy, but even if he hits 30 he'll still add value with defense and baserunning to be way better than Trumbo and Lindor
  23. I just don't get it... even if you believe that Javy moves off of SS, does anybody think he won't be at least a solid 3B? 24. My guesses as to the names with the grades. Not sure who else would get the B- grades, since there are so many in that B- C+ range (our 11-21 all C+ or better. I love it.) And yeah, we may technically be top heavy because our top is so good, but we're very deep as well.
