  1. Those pictures of Wrigley didn't look too good. No way they start in 20 minutes?
  2. Do I really have to watch the "Division Leading with 10 Rookies on the Roster" Braves play until the rain lets up? BOOO!
  3. We've won 2 in a row, which means under the "Last 10" column in the standings, it now proudly reads: 2-8!
  4. Great, FOX. I'll probably get Arizona vs. Atlanta instead of this game.
  5. "getting up for games" is a huge pet peeve of mine. These guys are paid thousands or millions of dollars to play a game. They have no excuse to take days off mentally or only "get up" for certain games.
  6. Hey, only need 6 more wins to break even over the last 16
  7. Tavarez was a nutcase when he was a Cub, he's still a nutcase.
  8. That's the lineup? I was hoping to see the Cub Foods Celeberity Bat Kid get some AB's today. You know, little Freddy Wochowski from Mokina?
  9. Don't remind me. That actually gave me nightmares.
  10. Eep. Ouch. Ouch. Bad. Yikes.
  11. Big difference between the '04 Astros and '05 Cubs: The Astros started winning when they FIRED THEIR MANAGER!
  12. I haven't been real positive of the entire season and lately especially, however the only thing that has kept me from thoroughly throwing in the towel was the knowledge that we still have a ton of games left with both the Cards and Stros. Even if the playoffs aren't likely, the opportunity to play spoiler still gives me reason to see the Cubs win. Once you concede to wanting to play "spoiler", there is no turning back. Resist, resist!
  13. We've been pretty lucky with the lack of trolls on this site. Cubs.com is swarming with them
  14. Banned? Not likely. But it isn't much appreciated when a Card fan signs up for a Cubs site on the day of a cubs/cards series expressly to root for the other team. Why do so many Cardinal fans stray over here? Do a lot of Cubs fans from here also post at Cards Talk?
  15. with all due respect, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That's like Bears fans who say "I don't care how we do overall as long as we beat the Packers". So you'd be okay if the Cubs lost 90 games every year as long as they won at least 9 from St. Louis each season? THIS YEAR. That's obviously not my hope for every year. It's just that I have no faith in anything good happening for this year, so if we end with a winning record against our hated rivals and the best NL team that's something good. That's cold comfort as far as i'm concerned.

  17. oh yeah. Both out onto the street.
  18. For everyone who want to know where this team has been for 8 games, don't worry. That team will come back tomorrow. Nice dinger by Lee there.
  19. if loosing is anything like losing, that must have sucked! /spelling nazi
  20. Nice comeback by Maddux. Too bad Macias has bought himself 15 more starts.
  21. Off topic, but it is now raining here in State College as hard as it is in Chicago, and I lost my Sattelite signal. Happens every time it rains hard. Can't they figure this out yet? Are clouds really that "signal proof" that I have to lose my TV signal for 20 minutes every time there is a downpour? On the other hand, maybe God is giving me a sign that I shouldn't waste 3 hours of my life on another Cubs loss.
  22. nah, the Cubs will get the same # of hits as the Cardinals, but 7 fewer runs, due to leaving men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs in every inning
  23. I'm setting the over/under on the # of runs Macias' right field defense allows for the Cardinals at 2.5
  24. Rainy and warm, with a forecast of extreme stupidity. What, again? A high pressure idiot front has settled over the greater Chicagoland area. The forecast is extended. Fueled by a lot of hot air centered on the Cubs media room at Wrigley Field. Not expected to pass until late September.
