  1. Kim did indeed have a white piece of cloth up his sleeve that came flying out when he made a pitch, but I'm positive that Kim didn't get ejected for it.
  2. I think Darren Baker picks the uniforms each day (right before he fills out the lineup card)
  3. You are wrong, and your father smells of elderberries.
  4. Andro isn't "the juice". I voted Palmeiro because he actually had a positive test result, while McGwire only ever admitted to using a dietary supplement, not anabolic steroids.
  5. This new show "Starved" on FX is frigging hilarious. Oh man, you have to watch it. New episodes are Thursdays at 10pmEastern
  6. Uh oh, tricky delivery struggling pitcher on the mound. Cubs get 4 hits and get shut out 7-0
  7. Well, unfortunately they let the pitcher each day decide the uniforms, and Zambrano and Rusch always go blue. Maddux always goes traditional. I think Prior goes white at home and blue on the road? I can't even picture Zambrano in a white or grey uniform. Sad. The Blue jerseys are fugly because they look like spring training or warm up jerseys. They are always baggy and look untailored. Plus the logo is dumb, and they wear them WAYYYYY too often.
  8. Home-White Road-Grey Blue-Incinerator
  9. But none of the other bolded ones were Cubs. And Willis and Garland would have to bolded, too. No, the bolded ones were "WTF" guys. Or guys who, while good, shouldn't have more wins than Z or Maddux (in a perfect world)
  10. Easy. You root for a Cubs sweep and a split in every other series.
  11. "How can I do that, Dude? Dempster has saved us man!"
  12. But better than losing a game or 3 in standings as well, too. at this point in the season, gaining one game every other week or so may as well be losing three. but i agree...they're playing better of late. I think they have to sweep Colorado next though. They can't just win series anymore.............they have to go on a roll. The weekend series for Wildcard teams: CHC @ COL (3 games) WSH @ PHI (Doubleheader Thursday) WSH @ NYM (3 games) PIT @ NYM (1 game) PIT @ PHI (3 games) MIL @ HOU (4 games) LAD @ FLA (3 games) Looks like the Cubs and Phillies have the easiest go at it. You would root hard for Milwaukee if the Cubs weren't neck and neck with them.
  13. C'mon! Mitre is no better than Hill or Williams. I don't know why everyone thinks he's so "ready" when all he's done is suck every time he gets the chance to start?
  14. Clearly, there have been too many decisions out of our bullpen, leading to lower wins and losses for our starters. Maddux leads the team with 10 wins. Check out all the pitchers who have more wins than any Cub this year: Chris Carpenter Jon Garland Dontrelle Willis Livan Hernandez Mark Mulder Roy Oswalt Jeremy Bonderman Mark Buehrle Chris Capuano John Smoltz Tim Wakefield Pedro Martinez Jon Lieber Jeff Suppan Matt Morris Roy Halladay Johan Santana Rodrigo Lopez Cliff Lee Roger Clemens Kenny Rogers Randy Johnson Mike Mussina Matt Clement Freddy Garcia AJ Burnett Barry Zito Josh Beckett Jeff Francis Gustavo Chacin I know Wins isn't that important a stat.....unless your ballclub has a losing record. Then, someone is losing a lot of games. Are some of those guys better than Z, Prior or Maddux? What the heck is wrong with our stupid team?
  15. Funny? Yes. Fair? Of course not. Given the # of AB's and all. Still, glad to not have an automatic out bat 9th.
  16. Oh, hey look! A Hollandsworthless sighting in the dugout! Who knew he was still on this team?
  17. Got to ESPN. They are much better. Unless you're in Houston?
  18. Eep. Looks like that 1st inning was our chance to score. Oswalt is nails tonight
  19. Update: My choices are Astros announcers or Carpenter/Brantley. I'll take the non-biased ESPN guys I guess. Anyone surprised that the Cubs YET AGAIN got 2 on and 0 out and barely got 1 run? http://www.simleaguebaseball.com/talltales/moran.jpg
  20. Stoney announced the Tigers-Red Sox game earlier today. Dang. Well, hopefully MLB EI gives me the Cubs feed and not the Astros. The Astros announcers aren't bad, and they would definitely make Mercker and Alou mad....I saw their feed in Game 1, and they were ripping Wandy Rodriguez left and right for not backing up 3rd on that triple/run from Patterson. Overall, they weren't terribly biased and really laid it on the Stros when they f'ed up.
  21. Good thing I checked this thread, as I thought the game was on at 8pm EDT, not 7PM. Do we get Thorne and Stoney tonight? Or is it some other non-Miller/Morgan team?
  22. And "take away" 10 losses and the Cubs lead the wildcard. Unfortunately, you can't take away what's done, and until Z stops taking a start off here or there, he won't achieve Cy Young status.
  23. I'm holding out hope cause, Houston, Florida, Washington & Philly don't look too hot. Houston could really use Kent, Beltran and Bagwell. Just be blunt: Houston's lineup sucks. I'm ashamed - as a fan - that the Cubs got trounced 12-4 last night. Pathetic, when every game counts when playing the WC leader, and a divsional rival. Ensberg IS Houston's offense recently and their whole lineup tee'd off on Rusch and Wellemeyer last night. Well, their lineup is comparable to the Macias/Perez/Hollandsworth debacles the Cubs ran out there. Biggio, Ensberg and Berkman are that whole team.
