    Well it doesn't matter who swings the bat well if we get pitching like last night. I hate games when no matter who comes out of the pen, they suck. Seems to happen ever few weeks or so.

    To further my previous post: Cubs record vs. wildcard teams: HOU: 3-4 (9 remaining) PHI: 2-4 WSH: 1-5 FLA: 4-2 (3 remaining) NYM: 2-4 MIL: 6-7 (3 remaining) Clearly the 10 vs. HOU are huge, and the 3 vs. FLA are pretty important. Unfortunately, the Cubs really blew it against the other 3 teams, going a combined 5-13 this season. If the Cubs had managed even a .500 record against WSH, NYM and PHI, they would be 61-57, 2 1/2 out of the wildcard. No more games against those teams mean that the Cubs have no direct way to pass them except to just win, win, win. edited to reflect Monday's game vs. HOU

    In a way, I understand Baker being upset about it (since Stone has a different perspective during the game), but really, Stone was right (and usually was right about analyzing those in-game situations)

    From what I've read, Griffey would likely use his 10/5 rights to veto a trade to the White Sox. He's simply not interested.

    Muton hasn't seen the light of day for awhile, but really, with the starters healthy, that's a good thing. Murton needs to play everday, and Iowa would gladly have him (though he really should head to West Tenn and help them win the Southern League)

    First off, I credit the 3 victories against the Cardinals less to "getting up for a division rival" and more to seeing the best lineup on the field for the first time in forever. Notice that Neifi, Macias and Hollandsworthless were all on the bench this series? Coincidence that the Cubs offense didn't sputter when 4 automatic outs aren't in there? Second, I think anyone can get hot. A lot of games left against Houston and St. Louis is good. Few to no games left against Florida, NY, Washington and Philly is more troublesome. The Cubs really blew it in the head to head matchups with the Mets, Nationals and Phillies this year. So while the Cubs could beat up on Houston all they want, if those NL East teams win as well, Chicago won't gain any ground (they'll just knock the Astros out of the wildard lead).

    Do Miller and Morgan have a lock on Sunday Night Baseball? Are Thorne and Stone relegated to the KC vs. DET games all year? Between ESPN and FOX, I sometimes hate the fact that the Cubs are so nationally popular....

    Because the team likes to have built-in excuses before the season starts as to why the team tires out and slumps in August.

    yes, yes it its. It's very quiet in here. Shhhhhh Sounds like they might keep you with the Braves/D'Backs game once the Cubs game starts, Der... How much longer is the FOX contract with MLB? Their Saturday games of the week are so frigging awful. Yep, didn't send me to Chicago. GAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

    They don't really have any better programming on Saturday's. What would they cut it for? Another game? They wouldn't do something that satupid in the Chicago area, would they? i'm not in the chicago area. And our FOX would cut to show SoloFlex infomercials
