  1. Thank Jebus the Rose Bowl is on ABC. At least one game will have decent announcers (stupid FOX)...
  2. Penn State broke 8 school records with a 129-111 (in regulation!) win over VMI. 9-4 going into Big 10 play vs. NU this week
  3. Gah, stupid Giants. Having them limp into the playoffs only makes an easier first round game for Dallas or Seattle.
  4. The Big 10 is doing well to maintain their proud tradition of sucking up the joint come bowl season
  5. When the Bulls stay in their offense, they really are a treat to watch. When they start jacking up shots with no one in rebounding position, it's ugly
  6. Some players are just better off over there. For one reason or another, things click for them.
  7. $925,000? Doesn't that, like, triple their payroll?
  8. Ron Santo: 9 all star games--5 gold gloves--was top 10 in MVP votes four times, with 5 times in the top 10 in slugging including 2nd in 1964--one of 2 season where he was probably league MVP if modern metrics are applied. He led the league in OBP twice..triples once , walks 4 x's, sac. flies 3 x's and to be fair, the dubious GIDP twice. He still holds fielding records at third to my knowledge for chances accepted and either assists or putouts in a season. I edited out all the things that should be considered for HoF induction.
  9. Link doesn't work
  10. I think Chicago vs. Arizona proves that
  11. Happy to see Rutgers wipe the field with KSU. Chalk up a win for the Big East!
  12. That's not exactly a fair comparison either. Athletes are much stronger now that in the 1960's. and yet Banks hit over 500 homeruns..... Proving once again that steroids don't necessarily equal home runs. If this list comes out, there's a good chance you'll see some names that won't surprise anyone. Let's face it, would anyone be shocked to see Clemens, Javy Lopez, Kevin Brown, or either of the Giles brothers on there? However, you're going to see a lot more names that many people would have never thought of. Guys like (and no, I'm not claiming these guys are juicers, just using them as examples) Reggie Sanders, Cristian Guzman, Jason Kendall, Josh Phelps and quite a few middle relivers. What's really going to hurt is if you see guys that had good/great careers and were never really suspected of doing anything wrong. For example, how do you think people would react if Edgar Martinez was on that list? You may be right. Everyone focuses on the "strength building" characteristics of steroids, where I believe many players used them to play through injuries, etc.
  13. In other words, he thinks like a HoF voter
  14. not all that big? Are you nuts? That picture sure didn't make him look all that big. He has a modest bicep bulge when squeezing his arm up against his side and taking the photo from an odd angle. Big deal. I know manual laborers who never go to the gym and definitely aren't on juice who look bigger. maybe it is the angle, because his shoulder looks bigger than his head. I'd like to see his bicep side by side with Ernie Banks circa 1969.... That's not exactly a fair comparison either. Athletes are much stronger now that in the 1960's. and yet Banks hit over 500 homeruns.....

  16. I didn't watch the game, but I'm just glad that the ESPN "expert analysts" all said that it would be a defensive battle and the first team to 17 would win. Good call morans!

  18. compare our friend Scott here with admitted juicer Brady Anderson: http://www.outsidepitch.com/images/merch/brady_poster_2.jpg
  19. I drove from Bangor Maine to Upper Mongolia in 31 hours flat!
  20. A couple of years ago, Boers and Bernstein (mostly Bernstein) completely debunked the "Bears have an advantage in the cold" nonsense. Statistically speaking, their record has been no better in the cold than other times over the past 10 years or so
  21. My first guess is Scott Spiezio: http://www.cantstopthebleeding.com/img/speizio0225.jpg
  22. No worse than the MLB guys who, ONCE THE PLAYOFF FIELD HAD ALREADY BEEN DECIDED, had zero analysts predict a STL vs. DET World Series. None. Lots of "Colts vs. Panthers" picks out there, which, in the preseason, seemed like a pretty safe choice. None of us saw Carolina sucking it up like this
  23. is there a statute of limitations? nothing can be done within the MLB for these positive tests, right, as steroids were not against league rules at the time? this list would simply be used on legal grounds...
  24. isn't Wood notorious for taking a long time to warm up? how does that affect his use in the bullpen?
  25. This HAS to be some sort of regional thing....you've used it twice in the past couple of days. You might could be from Louisiana?
