  1. I tend to agree with you here. There wasn't $95 million worth of talent on the field for most of 2006
  2. arranging deck chairs on the Titanic....
  3. Now Hendry can continue to go after Barry extra-extra-lite (ie Floyd, another aging, legless wonder for LF) that said, Hendry DID have significant $$ invested in two pitchers that weren't to be counted on. The Lee thing was a freak injury and in no way Hendry's fault. The only thing you can fault him for was dragging his feet on finding a replacement 1B
  4. Interesting. Yankees M.O. usually isn't to trade a marquee player for prospects. Big risk by KW here, as he's left with some serious holes on the team if he can't get something done by April. Of course, one would think that he wouldn't have pulled the trigger on these deals without something in the hopper
  5. yes, the everett/alomar stuff was comedy. Then suddenly he got Garcia, Contreras, Thome, etc. He defied critics by winning the WS AFTER getting rid of Thomas, Magglio and Lee. Plus you have to like a guy who would step over Scott Boras if he was dying in the street.
  6. Kazmir for V. Zambrano JUST SAY NO TO THIS ORGANIZATION
  7. all i've heard about Baldelli is possible trades to the Orioles or Marlins
  8. what makes anyone think that KW would trade Garland or Garcia to the Cubs?
  9. Marquis' ERA+ by season: 2001 - 127 2002 - 82 2003 - 75 2004 - 114 2005 - 103 2006 - 73
  10. I look forward to the debut album by "Carlos and the 4th Starters"
  11. I missed a chance to see Hamilton play this summer. Seems to have recomitted himself to baseball. He played in just one game here in State College (on visiting Hudson Valley) but I couldn't go
  12. well, a few games against the East will cure anyone's woes
  13. Bold prediction: Meche to Blue Jays Lilly to Yankees Cubs to 5th place Wow how quickly things have changed. Yesterday we would have been thrilled to not get either of the two. I didn't say the Cubs would be any better with them, did I?
  14. Bold prediction: Meche to Blue Jays Lilly to Yankees Cubs to 5th place
  15. Interesting... Yesterday on ESPNews, Tim Kurkjian didn't think there was any possibility that Bonds would play somewhere other than SF.
  16. Huff Hendry must be sour on him as that name hasn't even come up all winter
  17. That would be fine with me. if it eliminated Floyd from the picture, sign me up
  18. things have been mighty quiet on the Westbrook front
  19. maybe the thinking is Floyd in LF, Soriano in CF and Murton in RF? wait, that's assuming there is thinking going on. sorry, carry on
  20. USC had the best OOC schedule I saw all year (Arkansas, Nebraska, ND). ND lost the only two good teams they played. Okay, Georgia Tech was pretty good, and that was a close game, and UCLA rose to the occasion against better teams.
  21. I posted this in the Whitlock thread, but still:
  22. He is surely not the same pitcher he was a couple of years ago. Zambrano Hill Schmidt Lilly Miller/Prior I'd start off with Hill in the #3 slot. If he maintains what he showed last year, move him up by the ASB. I'd like to be in a position where it's a question as to who should be #2, Hill, Schmidt or Prior. Man, that's a nice dream. i think a pitcher's "slot" is more about respecting the vets and such than anything else. Early days off throw off the "ace vs. ace" matchups and it never gets back on track
  23. NO WAY do teams like PSU give up 1 or 2 home games and the millions in ticket sales that go with it.
