  1. Shut-up douche. says the guy with "cubbie" in his screen name
  2. White Sox? seriously? we're lowering ourselves to this type of namecalling?
  3. my team is a lot different than most other people's, which means i'm either brilliant or totally screwed
  4. On the Orioles Hangout, some of the posters are proposing names like Votto, Bailey, Bruce, Cuerto, Encarnacion, etc. for Hernandez. #-o well considering that a few of those have been deemed "unready" to play at the major league level, i'm sure Dusty would love to have his GM ship them away for an overrated catcher
  5. A - Alex Rodriguez B - Ryan Braun Manny Ramirez C - Magglio Ordonez Nick Swisher Derrek Lee D - Gary Sheffield Jason Bay Pedro Feliz Jeremy Hermida Hank Blalock WC - Edwin Encarnacion
  6.
  7. well he's officially a Buckeye. now I get to hear about what he is having for breakfast every day on local sports radio. joy
  8. anyone else think he might opt for Michigan and jump into Rodriguez's spread option offense as a true freshman? what other QB options do the Wolverines have?
  9. Ouch! i think that was a compliment, actually. you're not going to put him in the first tier (ie Victor Martinez, Jorge Posada, etc.) at this point in his career, so I think the writer was saying that outside of drafting a superstar catcher, you could do worse than Soto on your fantasy team
  10. it shouldn't matter, the other guy is better. you keep saying it, but i haven't seen you try to prove it. i know, because i don't really know how to prove it. then how can you say so definitively that one guy is better than the other? i guess i shouldn't have said it with as much certainty, but i feel strongly that i am right about this. feel free to prove me wrong. Well, my first thought was that there's not enough information. My second thought is: it depends. If I was forced to hazard a guess, based on an "all things being equal"/league-average lineups and opposition, that the HR guy would "create" more runs, and thus be more valuable, despite creating more outs. I say that because even if tango's data is true and the HR guy K's all this other AB's, you don't subtract the run value of the K from the run value of the HR, because the run value of the HR is still there. This is where line-up "position" matters, because say, top-of-the-order guys who play a bunch of games are going to average close to 5 PA's a game, but if they're at the bottom, they're going to be closer to 4 PA's per game. by my rudimentary calculations, the HR guy ((162)(1.397)) is more valuable until the BB guy gets to 701 PA's (226.314/.323), at which point the latter begins to create more runs. I agree. I voted for the HR guy because the Walk guy's value is team dependent. the Walk guy may never be batted in. the HR guy is guaranteeing you at least one run per game. with him, you'll never be shut out.

  12. You already have Aramis Ramirez at third, and Jim Thome at UTIL. Were you really counting on Longoria to displace one of them? well, i'm not counting on Thome getting through the year without injury, and it never hurts to have trade bait. ultimately, i'm happy with the pick, as Longoria seems like a no-brainer "keeper" for next year if he's as good as advertised
  13. because he's an attention whore?
  14. ohio state ](*,) has the info leaked? no, i'm just assuming that he hasn't changed his mind. he said he's down to two schools; most people think it's o$u and um. his wikipedia page says that ESPN has reported the same. i don't think anyone wanted him at PSU besides his dad
  15. ohio state ](*,) has the info leaked?
  16. If it was up to me I would get rid of everybody on the team expect for Noah and Tyrus and even them I would trade for something if needed. Gooden has been really good since coming over
  17. Terrelle Pryor to hold noon press conference tomorrow, presumably to announce what school he will be attending
  18. you would have been safer had you used the medical term: Poop Chute
  19. Wuertz would be a decent trading chip, as long as he's not just given away. The Cubs have used up most of his cheapest years. And quite possibly they've used up his best years. He's coming off 3.5 fairly consistent solid years, a pretty nice achievement for most any reliever, aside from the elite. That's not to suggest I want him dealt, or that I think Hendry would be able to get a lot for him. But the Cubs have somewhat of a surplus of solid bullpen arms, and teams do often overvalue relievers. It could be a smart move to try and improve one of the team's weak points by including Wuertz in some trade this year. But do you trade Wuertz with Howry and Eyre free agents? Isn't Wood on a 1-year deal too? I do like Ascaino, Hart, and Petrick to go along with Marmol, but Wuertz has clearly had more success than any, including Marmol. I think I might rather trade a prospect, who might have more value than Wuertz anyway, at least to other teams looking to get cheap production. why assume they will all flee to other teams?
  20. i'm sorta tired of Lundquist and Raftery, if only because they do the play-by-play on College Hoops 2k6. /"the kiss..."
  21. Somebody has to recognize the beauty of a "So I Married an Axe Murderer" quote. That person is me. bravo, I was wondering how long that would hang the kid who played "Head" was an undergrad in my program at Northwestern while I was in grad school. true story
  22. i mean, maybe they got screwed, but they'd lose in the first or second round anyway. that's why i really don't feel too bad for bubble teams that don't get in. which is why two bubble teams should have to play the tuesday play-in game to get in as the 12 seed or something Yeah, they just said that on Mike and Mike. What do you guys think about Bobby Knights idea of having 128 teams? It is just one more game. It won't work out with TV. CBS will not push the Masters back as that event is a cash cow for them. The Masters is on a Tuesday? he was referring to adding another layer of games (128 teams)
  23. if Theriot is leading off I will do something irrational
  24. is this it?
  25. bale... c'mon man, try to keep up. it was a joke. the photo IS of American Psycho afterall
