Willis was completely off the radar for the Cubs. Frankly, I had never heard of him until he debuted with the Marlins (aside from being some minor league arm who was part of the Clement deal) -
why does it seem that just about every baseball owner not named George Steinbrenner views his team as either a) a business venture in which you spend as little as possible for most possible profit or b) as their little pet project where they get to play with superstars but really don't know what the eff they're doing?

ah so i guess because the team that one follows sucks, you inherently know nothing about the sport? looks like when it comes to baseball, we are all ignorant. Nope, based on the Penn St. basketball fans randomly showing up for 5 posts per basketball season, and usually not knowing much about the team beyond Claxton. i really have no idea what you're talking about. you think that because Claxton is hurt that I suddenly know nothing about basketball? WHA?

Weber did it first. And Pearl's a scumbag. Ummm, Weber did it first? Perhaps someone should tell that to Ray Mears, who did it in the 60's for the Vols, and is the reason why Pearl does it now. Got me on that, was not aware. Thanks for not contending Pearl being a scumbag. :) When your facts are wrong (orange blazer) it's easy to argue. When you opinion is, not so much. And I have no interest in arguing for the sake of arguing. You dislike Pearl. So be it. AS a UT fan, I like him. NOthing you say will change that. arguing over which coach started wearing a hideously ugly orange jacket first? priceless

Doesn't help that his team led the NFL in dropped passes (around 47, IIRC). yeah, as i said he needs better receivers. plexiglass is actually fine as a #1, but tumor is getting old at the #2, and beyond that it's been a wasteland of bums (sinorice moss, tim carter, steve smith - who may not end up as a bum, but he's not good right now, david tyree, etc.) but i'm not going to feel too bad for him. donovan mcnabb has a career rating of 85.8, and that's throwing to the likes of todd stinkston and james trash. he's had far less to work with most years than burress, tumor and shockey. Plexiglass? Tumor? Trash? Stinkston? Vagiants? How old are you again?
