    sure, and 7 local time is fine. but it's 8 local time here, and upwards of 10-10:30 when they're on the west coast. dont' get me started on post-season games That's what you get for living in the wrong time zone. :P that's what i used to say to east-coasters when I lived in Chicago. now it's all coming back to haunt me

    That's a must, unless we're talking about some kind of extremely extenuating circumstance. Maybe if the candidate is some hotshot from Europe, or something like that. At least give me someone with some indication that he's been in a court-side leadership role before, and shown some promise. This is the NBA, I don't think it's too much to expect someone with some kind of accomplishment in the area of coaching. Let Del Negro cut his teeth somewhere for a couple years -- heck, hire him as an assistant and find out if he's cut out for coaching. But head coach right away sight unseen? That's stark raving madness. Even if he succeeded it would *STILL* be stark raving madness. Porter did land that job. Did Cartwright get his head coaching gig without any assistance experience? I don't recall him being an ass't before we hired him. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten another gig somewhere, I don't think he did badly with what he had. he was an assistant under Phil Jackson for the '97 and '98 champion teams

    my guess is Burnett is a no go. He'd probably immediately exercise his player option, which would mean the Cubs would be adding a multi-year contract; can they do this mid-sale? also, Burnett has sucked this year (83 ERA+, 1.50 WHIP)

    A source I have inside the Rangers clubhouse told me that this "incident" was simply one too many nights where Ponson ate the entire post-game food spread by himself.

    I think people remember the way it ended and forget everything else regarding Steve Stone. Brenly is slowly getting better to where he hardly bothers me, which is all I ask from an announcer. I remember the way it ended, but it as so clearly a case of asshats like Alou and Mercker being worried about what was being said in the booth and Dusty letting the lunatics run the asylum.

    he missed the Derrek Lee "ah, my back is tight" stretch and Soriano's drawing in the dirt with his bat

    it's a tough question, because they approach the position in different ways. With Harry and Stone, Harry was very much a "color play-by-play" guy while Stone played it straight, whereas Kasper is much more than just a straight play-by-play guy; he adds a lot of color and analysis himself. I never got the hate for Stone, but Brenly has grown on me.
