  1. As I know others that make the counterpoint. It's humorous as to their points as well. It's not just Riot...it's the Riot/Soriano combo at the top. Soriano needs dropped. Fuko needs moved up. Hell, with DLee no longer hitting for power, some feel maybe he could be a leadoff hitter w/ his strong OBP. Derrek Lee hit 16 HR with a .554 SLG in the 2nd half last year, but don't let facts get in the way of your arguments
  2. i love how you think Soriano is a disaster
  3. What more can he do/prove in the minors? Let him take his lumps and see if he can mke the turn to the bigs. That would be true if he were on the Royals or Nats, but 100 years later, we dont need a guy trying to prove himself. We need an established leadoff hitter. Sure, idealy, Theriot would be replaced, but there isnt anyone available that can play short and leadoff. established is the new word for old, eh> also, how much would you love seeing Kenny's Pierre/Jock-esque noodle arm in right field. that would be AMAZING
  4. No, but Center field is. I know, hes a left fielder, but surely, with his speed he could handle center, or put Fuku there and put Kenny in Rt. he's also 100 years old and about 10% the fielder that Pie is also, what more does Pie have to prove in AAA?
  5. local ESPNRadio just said Self, Gillespie and Tubby Smith were candidates. none of those make any sense at all (in terms of leaving their current jobs)
  6. Does that mean an incidental facemask will be no penalty or will be a 15-yarder also? 15 yards. it's another blow against defenses across the league. i'm surprised they haven't made it only 5 yards to get a first down yet (with 7 downs to do it)
  7. The Cubs didn't care until the rooftop owners began meddling and held up the building permit when they first started planning the bleacher expansion, as they were afraid the expansion would interfere with their views, and hence, their profits. The rooftop owners brought it on themselves. Exactly. Also, while thats the rooftop owner's property, Wrigley and what goes on inside it belongs to the Cubs and they have every right to block that view if they want to (barring any crazy Chicago zoning laws that I don't know about). It's like complaining about me putting up curtains in my house because I don't want nosy neighbors looking in. Yeah, I agree. The Cubs absolutely have the right to modify their property to block a view. However, if the Cubs choose NOT to block the view then the neighbors are still entitled to enjoy the view from the property as they see fit. no one is arguing that point though
  8. my dog's name is Mojo, but we had him before MojoPin joined NSBB Have you ever lost your Mojo? :) he's actually named after Homer's helper monkey PRAY FOR MOJO
  9. I will wait until the Philly series. Freaking after one game fits the Philly mold as well. When do they go to Philly? They go next Friday, I go Saturday and Sunday. next Friday, not this Friday so.....we agree.....
  10. if no one else gets to it first he can
  11. my dog's name is Mojo, but we had him before MojoPin joined NSBB
  12. usually not until 2 hours before game time at the earliest
  13. Can't do it....I work in an office with a large number of Cubs fans. Last year I tried blocking out the games a couple of times, and every time it was ruined by someone screaming "ARAMIS HOME RUN!!!" or something like that. There is no way I'd be able to keep the outcome of the game a secret in my office. well how are they watching the game but not you? They're not, their following the games on Sportsline or MLB.com. The point is, if I DVR the game, I am going to want to watch it without knowing the final outcome. It's impossible to do so at my office. clearly, the best course of action is to blow the whistle on all your co-workers and get them fired for following baseball on company time. makes sense to me
  14. Just reading through some of these, this one caught my eye and I couldn't figure out who he was talking about off the top of my head. Reds, Twins, and Os came to mind but don't think those are right. I assume they are referring to the Twins, selling Johan for cheap then signing Nathan
  15. yeah, it was all 1998. during college, you could walk up on a Saturday afternoon Cardinals game and get seats

  18. it's amazing how fast this rooftop commerce has escalated. When I was in undergrad ('92-'96), the only people you saw on those rooftops were the residents of the building. on a nice day you might see 2 or 3 guys sitting around a hibachi, grilling up burgers and drinking cheap beer.
  19. Aren't the bars in the area also profiting from someone else's product? oh come on, you're smarter than that. It depends on how you consider profiting. I'm sure some good lawyer would try to prove this. there is a huge difference between taking advantage of a tourist attraction next door and charging people to see something that normally requires paid attendance. Would Tinley Park allow me to build a residential building close enough to the Tweeter Center such that my rooftop has an unimpeded view of all the concerts? Could I then charge people admission to my rooftop to see the concerts? I don't think that would fly
  20. hundreds, though generally they don't offer single tickets. the cost is in the thousands to rent the rooftop for one game It typically rented out to Corps. at around 120 a head. You figure they can typically squeeze about 75 (guessing) people on average, you're talking about 10 grand a game. yup, sometimes more. So you're talking about $800,000 per rooftop per season, not including what they make off off of food. I'm sure multiple rooftops are owned by the same people
