  1. Again, someone please explain the Marinelli love to me? What did he exactly do in tampa? Besides being a defensive line coach that at the same time had two HOF caliber players on it? He was a complete disaster in Detroit. Forget about the 0-16 record and other bad seasons...what footprint did he have on that defense? They didn't do a single thing well. They were undiciplined, they couldn't stop the pass, coudln't stop the run. What player truly developed in that defense? Ernie Simms was supposed to be a can't miss prospect..what has he done? That is pretty sad considering WILL linebacker in a cover 2 defense is a position that is setup for success. Personally, I'm sick of the the Lovie's Boys network. Here's a name I want..Greg Williams. What's even more sad is that they don't even know how to probably copy the Tampa 2 that Tampa Bay and Indy run. First off where is the dominant SS?(Please don't say Mike Brown). What about the elite pass rushing DE? I don't see a Simeon Rice, definelty no Dwight Freeney. They simply don't have the players to run this scheme and are in a constant state of denial.
  2. Is that a reference to something? During the attempted hiring of Nick Saban a few years ago, Angelo ranted in a press conference something like "I've heard so much crap lately I should wear a tourbon"
  3. Pretty boring interview so far..Angelo isn't doing anything crazy like insulting the entire Arab culture.
  4. Angelo: "I'd love to have Marinelli on our staff"
  5. Angelo on the Score now http://player.play.it/player/player.html?v=4.1.25&&id=391&onestat=wscr-am
  6. So what's the explanation? Don't say Lebeau...cuz he's only been there since '04. My opinions is that the organization does a great job of scouting and player development. To Cohwer's credit he surronded himself with great minds and kept a good locker room, etc. much like Lovie. He can be a very good coach given the situation, but I think people are viewing him as a Parcell's type which I don't see. The reports of him getting 10/Mill per year offers are absurd.
  7. Weird. It's not like they get playoff appearances every year in Minny. Usually their fans are better than that, although I'm sure they will sell the tickets. Still, it is pretty sad. Those tickets would have been gone in 15 seconds if the Bears won the North.
  8. Have the Steeler's missed a beat since Cowher left?
  9. I have a couple of Steeler fans at work who follow the team contanstly and they share the same opinion of Cohwer. I just think some team is going to bank on him being a savior and will be very dissapointed.
  10. Cohwer is just another chearleader.
  11. LOL, Vikings fans suck. http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/36862649.html?elr=KArksUUUU
  12. The Bears sure haven't done a good job finding them. It's not hard to find corners, but it will be hard to find a corner better than Tillman, which would be necessary before moving him. Even though he has severly regressed, Nathan Vasher was a pretty solid corner for a couple of seasons there. Corey Graham looked real impressive towards the end of the this season. They haven't invested a real high pick since Tillman, but the guys they have drafted in the middle rounds haven't been too shabby given their draft position. I'll also argue that Graham was our best corner down the stretch this season.
  13. I actually think Tillman could be an all pro safety. It just makes too much sense.(his move to FS). Which of course means it won't happen. And actually, it isn't that hard to find corners to play in this scheme.
  14. god I can't stand this guy. I remember when they had him on the Cubs TV broadcast after Zambrano's no-no and all he did was cry about how poor he was and how much his life sucks now.
  15. A audio tape of Bill Wirtz would be nice, but it might get blacked out on the broadcast.
  16. Why do I get the feeling Angelo is going to do something completly stupid like draft a WILL linebacker from a Division III school in the first round?
  17. I'm not sure how you measure that, but they dominated the NFC Championship game and won the NFC by three full games. That's dominating enough to make up for a weak conference. LOL, they most certainly did not. They were back in forth with the Saints for a good part of that game and would have probably lost in the dome. The week before that they just barely squeaked by the Seahawks.
  18. I don't see the point in an incremental (if any) upgrade from Orton. Draft someone, trade for someone, or get a big name FA (not sure there are any) if you wanna replace him. I think there's a lot of other places to address outside of QB, but I don't think Anderson is the answer. Well, at this time last year Anderson was considered one of the bright young QB's in the NFL. It is my opinion that he probably isn't as good as his 2007 season, but not as bad as his 2008 season either. I think he just fell into the albatross that is the Cleveland Browns. The Bears could draft another QB high, but he will probably just be another bust considering Angelo is pulling the trigger. They could make a run at Matt Casell, who has Scott Mitchell part II written all over him. I think with Anderson you have a chance to aquire a talented young QB at a low cost. He is definelty better than Orton, IMO.
  19. Manning as safety may happen more than you'd like depending on Mike Brown's situation. Frankly, I'd like to see Manning get consistent time at FS and see if he can actually develop there. I know he's had some big blown assignments, and apparently Urlacher got on him after he got burned yesterday (although I think Urlacher better worry about his own stuff)...but I think Manning still could develop if the Bears would put him somewhere and leave him there. Which is a coaching problem, as they have seen no reason to put him in a position and stick with him there. Manning was the Bears first pick a few years ago because the coaches wanted his athleticism and return ability. He's finally been utlized effectively as a returner, but the coaches have gotten crap out of him on defense in part because he's been moved all over and in part because they haven't coached his athleticism. It also doesn't help that Manning isn't the sharpest pencil in the box. Let's be fair here. When he can do simple tasks on the field, i.e run a kickoff back..blitz the QB, he looks good. But everytime he screws up it is on a blown coverage where he makes a huge error.
  20. I wonder what it would take to get Derek Anderson now from Cleveland? Probably not much. I wouldn't mind brining him in and then having another QB competition between him and Orton. Keep whoever wins after the 2009 season. I guess alot would depend on the cap hit from cutting Anderson should you decide to go with Orton long term. I still thing Orton can be a solid QB in this league, but you have to give him some weapons to work with.
  21. Amen to that. I actually though Manning had a nice game at Nickel vs Green Bay too. But man was he awful there again at safety Sunday. It was the Superbowl Part II. I really hope they bring Mike Brown back. Hell even if you can only get 10-12 games out of him it is still worth it. Of course it would be nice if Angelo could draft a safety worth a Vet. Commitee. Actually he did draft a decent one in Chris Harris then dumped him for Adam Archuleta. Sigh......
  22. I'd love him, but I think the Bears are only interested in undersized defensive lineman that get blown off the ball 99% of the plays. That's the cover 2 defense! :D The Colts do the same thing - tiny, but fast D-linemen. Dungy and Lovie are both from the same school of thought. And Albert is a great, great DT. Everything I've heard is that the Titans will bring him back, but they're still bickering over the contract, so I'm not certain. I like to call it the "Tampa Terrible" defense. Hey look, I got a 260lb DT that runs a 4.7! And once a game he can use that quickness to make a play 5 yards in the backfield. Forget that he gets his arse handed to him the reaminder of the game, we have a real playmaker here.
