Boy am I glad we gave Marquis that 3 year deal. I think right now, Gallagher would put up better numbers than Marquis and for a whole hell lot cheaper. Chalk this up as another one of Jim Hendrys finest... Who would've been starting from April thru June had we not had Marquis? Guzman possibly. I know he is hurt right now, but who knows if he would have been had he been starting regularly. I just hate the fact they gave Marquis a 3 year deal, when we have some kids in the minors who project to be better starters than he is. Guzman? Yeah right. That kid has been hurt every year. -
Until he gets hurt again? Guzman's injury struggles has been more frustrating than Wood or Prior.

Oh well, all in all I'll take a split with Philly and gaining a game on Milwaukee in the process. Finish up this homestand strong by taking 2 of 3 from the Mets.

2nd best starting ERA in baseball. Only Marquis has an ERA above 4. So, you're comfortable with Hill, Marquis and Marshall starting a playoff game? Realistically only one of those 3 would actually start a playoff game.

Marshall hasn't allowed more than 2ER in an outing for a month. Granted that could change today, but he has been very good and very consistent.

I agree. I suggested that earlier in the game thread but it didn't go over too well.

The Cubs have some terrific career numbers lifetime against Lohse, although he did pitch a very good game against them earlier in the year.

Lou sending a not so subtle message to Hill in his post-game press conference. Saying starters need to go deeper into games and not let things get them down on the mound, like errors and such. Worried that the bullpen may start to get overworked.

Add Jones to the list. Holy crap. And then IBB to Kendall?? I hope he's on first base before the Phillies realize he sucks. Actually, Kendall has been pretty hot over the past week. .375/.444/.882 over the past 7 days coming into tonight. Shhh... Don't bring your new fangled "stats" into this.

I'd would have rather seen a first pitch rbi single. :) And I want a real-life Transformer as my best friend, what's your point? The point is he didn't advance the runner one bit. So what, no big deal. everyone realizes that, but between Murton and DeRo's ABs, Moyer lasts one less inning and the Cubs get a chance to wear out the Philly pen for tomorrow. I know..I know. Im jsut saying, in a light hearted manner, that a 1st pitch single would be better. Plus, I'd rather Moyer stay in as long as possible.
