  1. Jesus, you had like 860 some odd posts earlier this afternoon... you've made 100+ posts in a matter of hours? Finland must really suck....
  2. While they don't make any more trips, st. louis is not exactly far away either - not like its tampa visiting seattle. I agree they will hold out to play the games this weekend though. moving this game to sunday night will make that much tougher though. True, St. Louis isn't far away, but you have to find a common off day for both teams. Also, you have to take into consideration where those teams would be coming from. The Cubs or Cardinals won't be too thrilled if they have to rush home from the West Coast in order to play a doubleheader.
  3. I imagine they will do everything they can to get the game in the next two days. St. Louis does not make any trips back to Chicago, so scheduling would be an issue. Obviously you can't do much about the rain, but everything within their power will be done in order to play.
  4. What the hell is an explesitive? It's a combination expletive and explosion, so its really bad.
  5. Wow, everyone is fired up that they are showing the other games? Minnesota is probably getting it because of the Tigers.
  6. Probably because it is still raining, and the tarp is on the field. Why would they switch from the Yankees game if they aren't ready to play? Fox just saidit has been pushed back to 5pm EST/4pn CT
  7. I seriously doubt this game is going to start in 20 minutes. I think they will play, but not that early.
  8. With Hill on the mound, literally anything could happen. With Hill it seems like once things starts to go south or he gets in a jam it just completely falls apart for him. But he could also just as easily shut them down.
  9. My parlay tonight relies on this game going on so go on. Bet Against the Cubs? One of those, "Well if they lose I at least make some money" things?
  10. well there are people that are just cheering for the team to win regardless of projectability of the players you know. Sure, there are, but it is far from an organizations #1 priority. Organizations couldn't care less where their teams finish in the minor league standings as long as they are developing talent.
  11. There are Matt Murton worshippers at NSBB?
  12. Murton rolling over a ball to the left side of the infield. Feels like I've seen this before...
  13. Except it's not. Marshall has been solid with the exception of two or three starts this year and Rich Hill had an ERA of 2.64 post-ASB (it was 3.81 pre-ASB) coming into the game. He had starts where he allowed 2, 1, 2, 3, and 1 ER's in his five post-ASB starts. Why do people keep saying/implying that pitching is a problem with this team. IT'S NOT. It's the offense that is the problem. Well, I didn't exactly say that. Does anyone honestly feel comfortbale with Hill on the mound? Once one little thing goes wrong, a snowball effect occurs. I like Marshall, I would start Marshall over Hill all things being equal right now. I'm not ignoring the offense, but how much can you really expect tonight without 2 of their best hitters? I know this much though, you can't give up 6 runs and expect to win.
  14. Pie hasn't looked any better. Pie hasn't been that bad. He has as many hits as Cedeno in his 3 + games since being called back up. Cedeno has been up since the 24th of July.
  15. it's called a mistake... you think he was trying to throw it belt high in the middle of the plate? No, but that reasonable logic is nowhere to be found when guys like Marquis struggle. Problem is, Hill is making a lot of these mistakes lately. If this team makes the postseason, I'd be scared to death to have him out there. Its a crap shoot after Z and Lilly at this point in time.
  16. Hill has the amazing ability to go from very good to complete garbage in the blink of an eye.
  17. Barrett was placed on the 15-day DL with "concussion like symptons". There is a joke in there somewhere.
  18. What exactly does a #3 pitch like? I think those arguing Marquis is not a #3 pitcher have some unrealistic expectations of what a #3 pitcher is. If you compare Marquis to the NL Central (the division in which the Cubs compete), He is actually pitching good enough to be a #2. To go down the list: Marquis 4.18 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP $4.75MM in 2007 Reds -- Arroyo 5-12 4.51 ERA 1.43 WHIP $4.5MM this year 2yr/$25MM extension  Compared to Arroyo, Marquis is the bargain of the century. Astros -- Jennings 2 - 7 6.15 ERA 1.53 WHIP $5.5MM Again Marquis is a relative Bargain. Cardinals (Take your pick) Wells 5.27 ERA 1.56 WHIP $4MM Looper 5.25 ERA 1.41 WHIP $4.5MM Wainwright 4.21 1.47 WHIP $400K Pirates Armas (to start the year?) 6.31 ERA 1.62 WHIP Brewers Suppan 4.84 ERA 1.52 WHIP $6.2MM Capuano 4.96 ERA 1.49 WHIP $3.2MM Although I hate to admit I may have been wrong about the Marquis signing, it looks like Hendry got himself quite the bargain for this year atleast. Stop trying to prove your argument with those things called "stats". 8-) yeah, he sure showed me. the cubs are better than some of the worst pitching staffs in the league. awesome. It was a joke. This whole argument is crazy. Marquis hasn't been great, or terrible, he's been OK. Lets just leave it at that.

  20. Colvin finished 4/5 with a HR.
  21. He's been working on his Angel Pagan impression.
  22. No. He'll grind out an extension in no time. Christ, I don't know if I could handle a Cubs postseason listening to people slobber all over Pods. I could find a way to live with it.
