  1. How was it a nice AB so far? He took one swing and popped up foul. Getting the count to 2-2 is hardly a major accomplishment. Didnt swing at 1st pitch? Thats all Ive got lol Just glad I wasn't the only one confused by that.

  3. On the other hand, IU is probably dedicating this season to Hep's memory and is motivated to do their best each week. IU wins. U of I by at least 10 Don't be so quick to discount Indiana. Indiana has won the last two games against UI. Kellen Lewis has been having a great year as well. I will echo NCFan's sentiments in that I think UI has the better team, but IU isn't as bad as they have historically been. SHould be an entertaining game.
  4. Theriot really needs a day off and the rest of the lineup looks pretty good. I have no problem with Cedeno playing, but there will be plenty of complaining about it, there is still 45 mins till the game There might be more complaining if there was another option at SS, but there isn't at this point.
  5. Pretty pathetic what LaRussa has had to resort to, can't say I'm not throughly enjoying it. Ludwick has some pop. He did hit one off Demp the other night. Lets wait and badmouth him after the game.
  6. WGN should never be watched except for a Cubs game.
  7. Just keep your TV off! Ahh, watch the games, your going to miss them shortly. You superstitious fools.
  8. Juice FTW (maybe in 2 years) (probably not) Kellen Lewis has shown me more than Williams.
  9. This Big Ten Network crap is ridiculous. I could be watching a bunch of good games right now if things were like last year. F U Big Ten Network. I like the network, quite a bit. Of Course I have DirecTV so I get all the games they show.
  10. The IU/Illinois game is on the Big 10 network next week. I think Indiana wins.
  11. Kind of hard not to see this coming. It amazed me how some around here will still including him in the discussion of helping the bullpen not too long ago. He has never really shown the ability to stay healthy, for whatever reason, and I don't think it really has anything to do with the Cubs medical staff. Some guys are just prone to injury, and a lot of them play for the Cubs. :)
  12. Good to see Floyd discover some power again. I hope he can keep it up for the final two weeks.
  13. after throwing 2 innings the day before. we've got a 4-run lead in the 9th and an important series this weekend. this is stupid. using him for 2 innings. I care more about the number of pitches, not the innings. He threw 25 pitches in those two innings, thats pretty good. I guess there has to be complaints about something, but Marmol has had regular rest, despite the number of appearences.
  14. +1. This is really really stupid. He threw 12 pitches in the 8th, and hasn't thrown that many in the 9th. He's fine. But why use him? There is no reason to. I wouldn't mind a heart-attack free 9th for a change.

  16. Glad you noticed  He pitched a hell of a game, but it is still 100% fair to comment on his terrible bunting ability. I'd hate to see him up in the playoffs with men on 1st and 2nd and nobody out. If he pitches the way he did tonight who cares. Soriano would be following him and our 136 million dollar man should be counted on to do something with the bat moreso than Rich I care because it is his primary job at the plate as a SP. Its really not that hard to do. There should be a greater probablity of Hill getting the bunt down in that situation compared to Soriano getting a hit. Bunting a Major league fastball or curveball is not as easy as you are making it. Still no excuse for him not to be better at it. Again, its the only thing he is really asked to do as a pitcher when he is hitting. There are plenty of pitchers around the league that have very little difficulty doing it.
  17. If he steps on the mound doesnt he have to throw at least 1 pitch? Actually, since the Astros would be using a pinch hitter, I believe Lou is allowed to pull Rich in order to react to the new hitter. Don't quote me on that though. I think the rule is if he makes contact with the mound he has to throw 1 pitch, but Rich was standing behind the mound so I dont know if he ever made contact. I could very well be wrong though Once a PH is announced the other team is allowed to make any move they want.

  19. He really does need to learn to bunt.[/quote If he continues pitching gems like this I could care less if he walks to the plate and takes his ab without a bat Well, he wouldn't do any worse.

  21. Lol Ive been pleased with his 2nd half I was real worried he would fall off like he has routinely in his career. Hes been better than I espected. Are you disagreeing that the majority of people on here severly overreact when it comes to him? No I guess I read it wrong. I was thinking you mistyped and it should have read" Despite the unpopular sentiment on him". My bad Well, your right. Popular opinion = a bad one.

  23. Marquis is on his game tonight in getting the ground balls. Despite the popular sentiment on him, I'm very pleased with what he has done this year.
  24. A couple of things to correct in this post: Marquis is 3-1 with a 3.26 ERA in his last 6 starts. The Cubs are 4-2 in those starts (one of those losses is the game Dempster crapped himself against the Dodgers) Minute Maid Park has played as a pitchers park this year. Did you not get the memo that its unnecessary to actually look at Marquis' numbers? he sucks, at least that is what I'm told anyway.
