  1. per MLB Network... Last Cubs player to be drafted to become an All-Star?
  2. Report on Simpson wasn't exactly glowing. Pitched well, but was hitting 87-88 all night. Apparently his velocity has barely topped 90 all year.
  3. Amazing might be a bit of a stretch. I agree he's had some bad luck with BABIP though. He's throwing strikes (only 5 walks), maybe too many in certain situations. I'm not that worried about him. You are dead on though with getting Wells and Cashner back.
  4. Does anyone really give a damn about hot dogs?
  5. Soriano has the same approach as my 3-year old.
  6. Pena bunted for a hit 5 times in 2009. Still looking for what he did last year. I think it is something you will see him do from time to time.
  7. I thought that was a pretty standard rule that most baseball fans knew.
  8. I don't mind if he shows it, but that sequence of events was kind of strange. The guy isn't exactly great at it. He was actually pretty successful doing that for TB since defenses started to shift against him. Really? Hm. It didn't seem that way from his AB, but I'll take your word for it. Yeah, I'll find the stat for you. I read it in The Extra 2% by Jonah Keri. I just looked to see if it had an index so I could reference it but it does not. It's in there though.

  10. Guys... 1B was occupied, Soriano can't go anywhere.
  11. Lots of speculation that Watford might be leaving IU. Rumors at this point. Hollowell announces at 3:30. Most still say should be IU.
  12. I was under impression there was still one to give. Harris would complicate matters scholarship wise. I could be wrong though.
  13. Of course Indiana has no scholarships available for 2012. Not that that's a problem for them. There is still one for 2012.
  14. Jeremy Hollowell (2012) is expected to announce for IU this week. He would join Ferrell, Perea, Patterson, and Jurkin for that class. They are apparently still going after Gary Harris as well. As Mike Davis one said, "Help is on the way."
  15. Because Max Ramirez has hit about as well as Koyie Hill the last couple if years in the minor leagues? Because he's not much of a defensive catcher?
  16. It would be nice, but if past history is any indication, this is an extreme longshot.
  17. Why? I'd like more wins as much as anyone right now, but I'm willing to give the guy some time. Like I said earlier, this team needs to start showing more progress next year. Hopefully another year of experience, health (hopefully), and adding a good post player will do that. You can't ask for much more in what is lined up for 2012 and beyond. If IU is still playing this in two years I'll be concerned. I think the worst is behind them at this point.
  18. It wouldn't feel right around here without all the IU hate, heh. I'm disappointed IU couldn't win that one today. I have enjoyed seeing them compete the last couple of weeks like they haven't done in quite a while. The optimistic side of me hopes that due to the injuries, some of these guys getting more playing time will be better off because of it. I think Oladipo and Sheehey have shown quite a bit more than anyone expected of them. Hulls has been quite good on the offensive end, but struggles at times on defense. Losing Watford, who is clearly the best player on this team, will be tough to deal with. Rivers has actually had a pretty good year. He's been a good defensive player, and actually been producing offensively lately. They aren't too good, but they play hard. I can at least appreciate the effort. It is hard to not be optimistic with the recruiting that has been done. But, bottom line is they need to take a step next year with this group who has been together for a while now. Ok, feel free to bash them and my comments now.
  19. I'm speechless after that one by Sheehey.
  20. C'mon guys, the marquee matchup of the weekend just started... Iowa at IU.
  21. You guys finally boot Daniel Moore? Good point. Pritchard has had stretches where he was just as useless as Moore though.
  22. This is the last IU player I would ever expect this out of. I guess it just proves how athletic even the "non-athletic" looking college players are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti8tDbtEbCY
  23. Go Hoosiers. Just felt like Raw needed the moral support!
  24. Is there any chance for the current crop of outfielders on the 2011 roster at least be league average? My biggest concern with this team is the outfield production, or potential lack thereof. Byrd if firmly planted in CF. For a CF, his production is just fine. The real concerns are on the corners. What does Soriano do? Can Colvin keep up a seemingly unsustainable power level? Can Quade see Fukudome for what he is and utilize him in an appropriate way? I don't think this team will be terrible by any stretch, but it would be nice to have a more potent outfield.
