  1. Thats exactly why I hated Edmonds so much. I hated everything about him, well beyond just baseball, much like LaRussa. But I'm not saying I wouldnt want him on the team, I'd just not like him. LaRussa is a little different because managers don't have nearly the impact that players do (obviously). That said, if I could be promised a WS title if he was our manager, I'd welcome him with open arms....but still dislike him. Yep, I'd take the World Series no doubt but I really don't want to listen to him complain all the freaking time.
  2. I would be discerning and realize that if we did win the World Series, he probably had very little to do with it because a) he's only a manager and b) he's bad at his job. Edmonds is not a good comp. That's how I feel about it, then add the fact that he's an [expletive], has been a Cardinal for so long and he has stupid hair, I have no desire to see him manage the Cubs.
  3. I don't really want anything to do with LaRussa as Cub's manager at all. He might be my least favorite person in sports.
  4. Red herring. No one cares about college basketball right now. And we're all in the Big Ten (aside from Missouris) which is pretty boring in itself.
  5. Your idea sounded a lot better than considering Alex Smith so I did that. I had him solely because I wanted a bye week QB and I liked his match up that week although he didn't do much vs the Seahawks. I have now gone with Chad Henne as my bye QB as he was the best one available and they play the Bills that week. I'm probably over thinking a lot of things though as this is still my second fantasy football year.
  6. Obviously there are more important things than this but I do remember two years ago, when Urlacher was out for the season, the Bears defense didn't look the same as normal. That could be an issue against the Saints. Then again their line does look better than I remember being a couple years ago too.
  7. That is weird, do they do some kind of formula to figure out who plays who or is it random as to what AL team you play. I know back in the beginnings of inter league play they would go one division vs one division but changed it when they decided that they wanted to have rivalries that couldn't really be done that way or something. Oh, and the Cubs playing in the Twins new park is intriguing. Then again Minneapolis is a 8 hour drive from me so I don't know if I'd want to do that or not.
  8. Should I even entertain the thought of playing Alex Smith over Drew Brees? The only reason the thought has crossed my mind is because Brees is facing the Bears and Smith is facing a Cowboys team that did allow over 300 yards passing to Mark Sanchez.
  9. Why can't the team who had their punt blocked recover the ball and keep possession as if it were a muff or something like that?
  10. I could have sworn I heard Gruden say "Sh_t set your feet and throw right there" earlier, but maybe it was Jaws. http://www.businessinsider.com/ron-jaworski-swearing-monday-night-football-2011-9 I cant believe i already found a video of it I'm not paying too close of attention but I thought I heard him say that when it happened.
  11. I'll be the old crotchety guy. I don't want to see this happen. But I think you're right. At some point running will become like "hey they RAN it! Haha, weird." Not sure I want to live in that football world. it's almost like that now. 12 QB's have thrown for over 300 yards this week. i remember that used to be a benchmark that only 2 or 4 guys would reach each week. I don't know, the NFL seems to adjust so you'd think it will even out although the rules definitely favor the passing game.
  12. I'd say that fantasy teams with Brady and Welker were ok with that play.
  13. Just kind of a random thought, I wonder if in 5 years I will remember that Rodrigo Lopez was on the Cubs.
  14. Nonsense. Unless you base your view of Bears fans off of 20 year old SNL sketches. it's not about a lack of fawning. Idiots have routinely labeled the Bears as the worst team in football without any reasonable defense of such picks. The media in general tends to pile on the negativity surrounding the Bears, apparently due to a lack of franchise QBs for several decades. You will occasionally see a guy like Peter King get overly giddy about them. But it's rare. It is justifiable to say you don't think the Bears will be very good this year and/or they will take a step back. 7-9 is a reasonable prediction, and 10 losses isn't absurd. But picking them to be the worst team in the league is flat out stupid, or purposefully inflammatory. My vote goes to "purposefully inflammatory." It seems to me one of the quickest ways to get your name circulated these days is to bag on a team with a large, dedicated fan base that will freak out over the pick. In 2011's world, that means: call the Bears terrible. That's my assumption as well. The first paragraph of that article makes it pretty clear to me that he's being purposefully inflammatory.
  15. That was a handsome interception.
  16. Most of the time. How many people had the Cowboys and Vikings going far last year?
  17. Green Bay plays them next week. His play has got me a little more concerned about that game than I was.
  18. Agreed at all points. The pick-6 was extremely frustrating since it was so unnecessary (plus the pressure put Cutler in harms way while the Bears were up 24 in the 4th). Carimi was bad but I figure there will be tons of improvement from him as he has the talent and this was his first NFL game. Webb, on the other hand, is what he is. And he was worse than Carimi today. Charles Tilman played an absolutely fantastic game today. Can't say enough about his performance. Carimi was definitely struggling, especially in the first half. The rest of the line actually looked pretty decent overall. That new FB did had himself a nice game too. I saw him down the field during a couple longer runs making blocks. I like what I see. I like that Sanzenbacker (however its spelled) got involved in the game too and even got a play called for him, even if it didnt work out (end around). Does Tillman usually cover the slant like he did today? I'm wondering if it's a skill he has or if something was caught in the film room.
  19. It wouldn't matter but why not kick a field goal and make it a two score game?
  20. The Vikings haven't started in San Diego yet... True and they probably won't be good at all (although part of me thinks they fell apart last year and are better than they were last year) and the Bears and Lions are easily beating Tampa and Atlanta (one a near playoff team and the other was the number 1 seed a year ago) and the Packers controlled the Saints for most of their game until the Saints got back in it.
  21. May easily be a week one over reaction but is the NFC North the best division in football?
  22. I still think it could be argued that the ball was loose when he went out of bounce.
  23. Excessive celebration would have been hilarious.
  24. Is that 6 times in two games now ND has turned it over when they were about to score?
