  1. MOST OF THOSE WEREN'T BUNTS. Also a good point. But do you have a link to prove that because you didn't know Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig personally. Outside of common sense, there's no way to "prove" that either player did or didn't have any sac bunts. But, using 1927 as an example, Gehrig had 21 Sacs. As the #4 hitter. Even back then do you really think Miller Huggins had Lou lay down 21 bunts? In a year where he hit .373 with 117 xtra base hits (47 HRs)? Or is it much more likely that he layed down 1-2 and had 19-20 sac flies? Maybe they were just like "[expletive] it, we're so good we'll just free outs to the other team with our best hitter and still kick their ass".

  3. Bunting is for people who can't hit. Sac bunting is. There's definite merit in bunting for a hit, for certain players. How true. All the great players know how to bunt. According to STATS, Babe Ruth had 113 sacrifice hits and Lou Gehrig had 106 sacrifice hits. They knew the fundamentals and when asked by their manager to lay one down, they did it. They also played in the deadball era when 1 run meant a whole lot more than it does now. Also, just because they did it doesn't mean they should have. I mean, we are talking about two of the greatest hitters ever.
  4. The Cubs were pretty good that year.
  5. Yeah, I'm surprised how many people enjoy him. He's essentially Joe Morgan without the "I'm the best" attitude. I guess he's fine if you are just hearing him do one game and don't pay attention, but he's constantly calling for sac bunts and moving runners over and making things happen and all that jazz. On Saturday's game he said that one of the most important stats in baseball is two out RBI's or something like that and then Kasper said that wins aren't the best stat to judge a pitcher with and gave a reason why and Campbell shrugged him off. Campbell isn't bad because he doesn't sound completely lost when doing the game, as he's done it for a long time but his opinions would drive me nuts in the long run.
  6. Didn't his dad post here in the past?
  7. I always enjoy the Nolan Ryan and Robin Ventura fight.
  8. That article made no sense. It read like a bad rant from a random message board poster.
  9. It's almost official that we won't have a 3 game losing streak before the all star break. That's pathetic.
  10. I'm all for celebrations and what not when a guy gets out of a jam or closes a 1 run game or something but some guys celebrate like madmen when they close a 3 run lead against the bottom of the order and that, usually (unless your in a pennant race or it's the playoffs or something) looks pretty dumb. Over the top celebrations don't really bother me although there are times when I laugh because the guy looks like a jackass.
  11. Wonder if they miss a season if Kobe calls it quits. Same goes for Garnett and Duncan. Duncan and Garnett very well might, they are both post players who would be about 37 years old. I doubt Kobe would though.
  12. It seems like they've been swinging through a lot of hittable pitches.
  13. I'm tired so I hope the Sox score a few here or we win in the 9th. I don't want to be losing 3-2.
  14. Why did he touch it even if he thought it hit Castro?
  15. Pena is fun to watch defensively. I hope we can do something on offense here.
  16. I wish Soriano didn't pose every time he hits one in the air. I wasn't looking at the screen so when I saw him out of the corner of my eye I got excited for a second on that fly ball.
  17. I thought that was going to be the one home run Dunn hits in every series against the Cubs.
  18. Post rain delay crowds are usually awesome.
  19. This game is official if they call it we lose I believe.
  20. We have a good short stop. Now get some runs before it rains, a suspended game is much better than a loss.
