Chris Cotilo also got a job based on twitter. Not sure whether he had actual sources though. Can't compare Cotillo to these joke accounts. He was a kid but he was actually talking to people in the industry and posting real news. Yeah we all wanted to dismiss him at the time but he had legit sources. I remember he broke the Arrieta/Strop trade by finding out the Steve Clevenger was on a plane to Baltimore.

That’s basically how Dierkes (spelling?) Got MLB Trade Rumors going I believe. He threw a bunch of horsefeathers out and got a thing or two right that drove traffic then just turned in to an aggregator. This would’ve been early to mid 2000’s. Oh yeah I remember those days. I distinctly remember him posting the Cubs were going to trade Aramis Ramirez for Chone Figgins and I wanted to die. He's full on legit now though they rarely break anything. It's just a good news aggregate site.

Tulo is no lock to he healthy a whole year and Didi may miss most of the season. Torres at short, DJ at 2B, Tulo backs both up if healthy/gets some DH at bats

The new Mets GM was previously Lowrie's agent for years so that explains that. Though I'm not sure where he plays. Frazier at 3B, Rosario at SS, Cano at 2B, one of Dom Smith, Peter Alonso, Jeff McNeil at 1B and then when one of the young guys take over full time, McNeil basically becomes the utility guy there. Oh and they just got JD Davis too for the utility/backup 1B and 3B role.

I'd be all for that trade. I keep going back to the SFG rumor. I wonder if there's a way for a three-team deal to unload Heyward and one of Kintzler/Duensing on the Giants, and Chatwood to another team, with prospects involved. Something like SF gets Heyward, Duensing, Happ, Mets prospect Cubs get Cueto/Melancon, Watson, D'Arnaud Mets get Chatwood, Kintzler, Cubs prospect I like the Kintzler for D'Arnaud deal too, but in your thhree-team deal the Mets are adding quite a bit of money and not getting much quality (depending on the Cubs prospect). Yeah I edited to add a Giants prospect to their haul. I wanted to do my own backtobanks three way trade but didn't feel like thinking too hard about it either

It really is. I believe the Cubs could carry a $300 million dollar payroll if ownership allowed. I don’t mind trading weaker players, but not if they’re just dumping salary to make a one time splurge. I think Tampa was pretty sure they were gonna sign him too. I wonder what they do now. On the flip side, the Twins have a sneaky good offense now, after getting him and Cron and Schoop. If they manage to piece together a passable bullpen, they have a playoff shot.

Brett at Bleacher Nation gave some thoughts on all that Heyward to SF rumor nonsense and suggested something like Heyward for Cueto and Melancon, freeing up some money for Harper in the long run/giving us another SP option in 2020 after Cueto rehabs. Not great, but that's one possible way to be free of Heyward's contract.

I remember Zagurski pitching for the Dbacks and Phillies way back. He's also in my 2008 Baseball Mogul (because it was free). He's lasted a long time for someone who has barely pitched in the majors.
