Yeah Allen Webster's days are numbered. I'd like to see some guys in Iowa like Mekkes, Mills or Wick but I wouldn't mind an established piece either. Intrigued by Barraclaugh as a cheaper option if the Nats keep sucking. Also liked Tony Watson on the Giants awhile. Maybe a Melancon for Chatwood deal could be struck.

And just as you say that:

Seriously, he's on track to be activated as early as Friday. Is there a chance we never see him in a Cubs uniform again? I'm really hoping we just release him or some team decimated by injuries buys that he's "reformed" and gives us something.

Who'd have thought the Cubs would be the ones making it hard to like the Cubs?
  5. Post Count Padder
I'm still mad as hell we included him in that trade.

The Rangers and the Cubs making more deals:

I was waiting for him to retire and become Iowa's manager or something. It shocked me to learn he is somehow just 29.

It would be great if we could win a game without someone getting hurt. Davis should be fine for a handful of games but we really need more depth. Anything resembling an acceptable backup catcher left on the market?

Tseng released. I'm sure he'll end up somewhere on a bad team in need of innings. Had long hoped he'd be Hendricks-lite.

Hey, 3 years, $15 mil is a steal!
  11. Post Count Padder
He had nowhere to play on this team, at the time his defense was pretty awful, and we traded him for a decent swingman who also CLOSED OUT GAME 7 OF OUR WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP.

Webster and Kyle Ryan up, Tseng DFA'd

Aaron Judge is on pace for 325 strikeouts.
  16. Post Count Padder
As in he's hurt or he's going to be DFA'd?

That's.....a pretty good deal but also really surprising. Didn't seem to be a reason to lock him up like that this soon.

Finally something good. Theo went through PTR's rainy day fund.

Bummer about Z. Had hoped he'd be a useful lefty in the pen. Oh well.

He's a replacement level player due to make 3.4 mil on a team going nowhere. That's basically nothing and he was worth over 2 fWAR in 2017 (and a 4.3 bWAR in 2016). Maybe they tried trading him and found no takers, idk. Especially shocking considering they gave up Luis Castillo for him.

That's a bummer. I was really rooting for him. Bat never seemed to come along. Hope he gets another shot. Chesny Young is definitely gonna be someone else's Tommy La Stella for a season or two.

The Marlins released Dan Straily because reasons.
  23. Post Count Padder
I get the reasoning behind it, but it's still surprising and I'm sure Happ went out and murdered some vagrants with Ted Lilly or something.
  24. Post Count Padder
I like Caratini but there's a number of decent backup catchers on the market now for cheap. Really hoping we pick one up. How's Rosario looked this spring? Could he suffice as the other lefty in the pen until Cedeno is healthy?

Cool, the savings will go back into the Ricketts' pocket!
