  1. Barnette's contract is for just $750,000 this season. $3 mil club option next season.
  2. How far the mighty have fallen Also the Giants found their veteran outfielder:
  3. He's posted decent numbers. Not a bad low-cost signing. Since that's all we're allowed to have. Does this mean we can just DFA Kintzler? He's worse than Barnette and Brach and half the guys on the Iowa shuttle.
  4. Yeah the Giants have had a laughably bad outfield for a couple years now. Last offseason they finally tried to address it by trading for McCutchen. That's about all they've done. They gave 800 PA to Gorkys Hernandez the last two years.
  5. Zobrist for Honeywell would be... .... ...... ......... ...pretty sweet.
  6. According to Peter Gammons, we hired Aaron Sele for something. Never forget he received Hall of Fame votes.
  7. I hope we don't see Tazawa this season, for us at least. But with that signing we now have like 28 guys on the Iowa shuttle: I assume we'll have a few trades in March. This table taken from Cubsprospects on Twitter
  8. I like Hedges. Would love to get more than that for Bote though, even if we are dumping Duensing. I still feel like there's a way to deal Duensing/Kintzler and Chatwood to someone like the Marlins or Royals or Mariners, teams in a rebuild who can take on a contract like that and buy low.
  9. Not Earth shattering but I like it. He's been decent for a few years now. It's a relatively small contract. Sure.
  10. We did a thing. Rosenthal says we signed Brad Brach.
  11. If we could sign Oliver Perez to a cheap one year deal and jettison Duensing into the sun, I'd be very happy.
  12. True. I'm expecting a handful of starts from that group. Maybe Rucker or Robinson or Clifton if they progress. We also have Corey Black making his way back from TJS. Always liked him. Hope he gets to make his debut at some point.
  13. That's really cool about Hagerty. I remember that draft well. We had 4 first rounders and none of them made it to the majors. Cubs apparently sent some scouts to watch that workout. Side note: One of the other three, Bobby Brownlie, is now an area scout in PA/NJ. A friend of mine's brother in law is a Rockies scout and he was hanging out with Brownlie during a few games in the area this season.
  14. It's official now. Before it was just a "could happen" report. Also:
  15. Drew Pomeranz signed with the Giants for just $1.5 million.
  16. Trout is a HUGE Phillies and Philly sports team fan. If they have the money, he's going there.
  17. Chris Cotilo also got a job based on twitter. Not sure whether he had actual sources though. Can't compare Cotillo to these joke accounts. He was a kid but he was actually talking to people in the industry and posting real news. Yeah we all wanted to dismiss him at the time but he had legit sources. I remember he broke the Arrieta/Strop trade by finding out the Steve Clevenger was on a plane to Baltimore.
  18. That’s basically how Dierkes (spelling?) Got MLB Trade Rumors going I believe. He threw a bunch of horsefeathers out and got a thing or two right that drove traffic then just turned in to an aggregator. This would’ve been early to mid 2000’s. Oh yeah I remember those days. I distinctly remember him posting the Cubs were going to trade Aramis Ramirez for Chone Figgins and I wanted to die. He's full on legit now though they rarely break anything. It's just a good news aggregate site.
  19. Tulo is no lock to he healthy a whole year and Didi may miss most of the season. Torres at short, DJ at 2B, Tulo backs both up if healthy/gets some DH at bats
  20. The new Mets GM was previously Lowrie's agent for years so that explains that. Though I'm not sure where he plays. Frazier at 3B, Rosario at SS, Cano at 2B, one of Dom Smith, Peter Alonso, Jeff McNeil at 1B and then when one of the young guys take over full time, McNeil basically becomes the utility guy there. Oh and they just got JD Davis too for the utility/backup 1B and 3B role.
  21. Heyman just tweeted the Mets traded for Keon Broxton.
  22. Hadn't seen this yet:
