  1. I think that's already happened. He'll still get a massive deal but this extended slump is certainly giving teams a reason to push back in negotiations.
  2. As if the Cubs weren't making it hard enough to be a fan as is, they take photos with a real loser.
  3. I love seeing Mule and Erian get promoted. See how they fare against better competition. I wasn't sure they'd get a bump up. And yay Wiggins. I get the innings limit but they've really slow rolled it. I assume he's been throwing a bunch in the meantime.
  4. Bring up Caissie. The offense needs some kind of spark and PCA and Tucker could really use a day off.
  5. I am glad to see Amaya back in the lineup, but does it strike anyone else that Amaya (as far as we know) has never caught Horton before? Cade is on a heater and they're changing up his catcher. Idk how much stock to bother putting into that.
  6. It's a weird spot for both of them. McGuire isn't gonna play but Berti also never plays. I guess they value McGuire's bat to pinch hit vs. Berti's pinch running? I really could see them just dumping McGuire soon and calling up one of the Iowa kids.
  7. The Brewers just signed Julian Merryweather. 0.00 ERA rest of the season incoming.
  8. Skenes tossed 6 scoreless.....and was relieved by Cam Sanders. That is how I learned he was in a different organization AND had made his MLB debut. Good for him.
  9. Just have him do some towel drills and he will be fine.
  10. Kittredge immaculate inning was 120th all time, 6th in Cubs history. Talk about a perfect comeback.
  11. Marlins release Mervis. Feels like he goes to the KBO for a few years.
  12. For a few years the Braves were getting such team friendly extensions you wondered if it was blackmail.
  13. Tbf he was getting good results for awhile. Idk how the peripherals looked but he had not been terrible until recently. It's not a shock. He couldn't strike out anyone anymore. Through remember he was mad he wasn't guaranteed the closer role before the season? Lol
  14. Happ has a NTC and took less money to stay. Doubt he'd agree to be traded. He and Dansby aren't going anywhere. Dansby hasn't been hitting but is still gonna put up a 4 win season. Agree though that there won't be room for all the kids in Iowa next year. Something had to give.
  15. The Twins called up 8 players from AAA today lmao. A real Major League "Who are these F'in guys?" moment.
  16. Maybe I've missed it along the way but anyone have any clue why Cade was striking out guys a bunch in the minors but is averaging like 6 K per 9 in the majors? Better competition? Working on his arsenal/pitch mix differently?
  17. Carter Trice, Tyler Schlaffler and (I think) Connor Noland join Pipeline's top 30 after the trades of Cruz, de la Cruz and Gallagher.
  18. I saw this. Is he cooked or is there something that can be salvaged for the final stretch to at least get us some decent innings?
  19. I think some of it comes down to how each team evaluates prospects. The guys the Yanks gave up weren't in their top 5 or 10 but maybe the Pirates and Giants scouts and front offices were enamored with the prospects they received and valued them higher internally.
  20. The Jax for Bradley deal is fascinating. Jax has been better than his ERA indicates and I think he led the majors last year in WAR by relievers who weren't closers. And Bradley was demoted but still has No. 2-3 starter upside. I wanted both at the deadline and they were traded for each other.
  21. There are several peripheral relievers who could get DFAd. Kriske seems obvious. Hollowell, Cosgrove could go. I like Roberts but he seems like another one. Luke Little has not gotten a look in a long while. Pearson has been bad when up. And at this point most of these guys would probably slip through waivers.
  22. Seriously, someone make Ricketts cry at the Cubs Con.
