  1. K-Rod will be their setup man. His vesting option for next year is for $17.5 mil and kicks in at 55 games finished, so the Brewers won't want to be on the hook for that and is the reason the Mets wanted to deal him. Seeing as they got cash in the deal, it's not an awful trade for the Brewers, depending on the players they gave up.
  2. Sorry Jake, but Kevin Correia should not be an All Star ahead of Tommy Hanson.
  3. Well now they say Aramis has declined it. Interesting... Supposedly he didn't think he was gonna make it and planned a family vacation. Hence the reason for him declining.
  4. Have the teams been announced yet? Mark Reynolds should go for the AL. I knew he was off to a very poor start and got benched, but I just looked up his numbers and was shocked. Since June 1 he's clubbed 13 homers and raised his OPS from .672 to .871. And Willy Mo Pena would undoubtedly put on a show but there's no way a part-time player gets picked.
  5. IIRC, Pacieretti said recently he's moved on from the incident and he hopes the police just let it go.
  6. Didn't Wood sign cheap as a hometown discount and he wants to be a Cub for the rest of his career? I feel like most of the stuff I read paints Wood as a goner because he signed cheap and teams will want him without taking into account his loyalty in Chicago.
  7. Would be nice to get something for Byrd and we've been linked to Davis before. I wouldn't wanna trade Marshall, though. As expendable as relievers are, he's been pretty valuable and is still relatively cheap. I wouldn't not trade him, but it had better be for a better return than Chris Davis and Julio Borbon.
  8. He was already replaced. By Darwin Barney. It's in the title of the post. I meant when we need another mediocre starter on the roster. Clearly.
  9. @BruceMiles2112 Bruce Miles #Cubs Hendry says no fire sale
  10. Sure, lets pay a guy to hit in the .260s, OPS in the .800s and hit 20-25 HRs to play in Baltimore while we platoon Tony Campana and Lou Montanez. There's always the chance we get a Brett Jackson callup. And, honestly, we're not going anywhere this season. Would be better to shed payroll and nab a few prospects. Soriano can still hit a bit, but that would give us a lot of relief in the next few years. And it would be better to trade him while he still has some value.
  11. We have our winner. Close the thread.
  12. 30 in this non steroid era is ancient. They should be lucky to get back brett gardner or ryan theriot clone. Gardner- .271/.360/.378, dWAR of 1.9 and 1.6 the last two years Theriot- .285/.348/.356, dWAR of -1.5 for his career Wouldn't exactly call them clones. Gardner at least walks a ton and is a decent fielder. And we do have to be realistic. Teams might get desperate at the deadline, but I can't see anyone trading their top prospect for Z. A nice package of second-tier prospects would be more likely.
  13. Ricketts probably just said that for now. PR move. If the Cubs keep tanking, I can see changes this offseason.

  15. There's no reason to feel that way. People make all sorts of one liner posts. The ones that take heat are the ones like "only the Cubs". Ahem, look at me. I'm a board regular and when have I ever contributed anything worthwhile? I always thought you had a stake in Rotoworld considering how much you linked to them. If only.
  16. Good. Maybe Quade will get smart and start platooning DeWitt and Baker at second so we don't have a one-dimensional hitter at the top of our lineup all the time.
  17. Talk about a quick fall from grace. He looked like he'd be an ace a couple years ago. What happened? Arm troubles?
  18. Cafardo is usually pretty good, but I feel like this is just his speculating. There are no concrete facts here. Though I would love an overhaul; we're due for one. As respected and well liked by his peers as Hendry is, his decision-making with the payroll we have has been mediocre.
