  1. No no. Not basketball. Just Iowa women. In general. And more specifically, how they look.

  3. There are few things worse than watching Wisconsin play basketball. Iowa playing basketball under Lickliter was one of those things. Iowa women are also on that list.
  4. Or Griffey, he doesn't really provide a whole lot if he's not making shots. he actually plays good defense, but really, those shots have to fall if he's going to continue shooting Have you looked in the mirror yet and come to acceptance that you are, and I quote, a bunch of "godless chuckers"?
  5. If you were an Illinois fan, you'd have the roller coaster ride of winning the basketball championship after the first two weeks of the season with 3 first round draft picks, to losing 8 of your next 10 and sliding away into depression and anger
  6. "really bad" is a stretch. We have 4 losses (2 on road, 1 neutral, 1 at home) to teams with a combined 46-9 record (Florida, Creighton, Virginia, and Marquette). But most def a down year. I apologize to anyone that even looked at the Wisc-Neb box score. I'll be in attendance as well. Badgers need to just guard the perimeter and own the paint with Berg and Evans. But Illinois should foul Evans at all times. His FT shooting is just horrendous (south of 40%).
  7. Count me in as a fan of Andersen, the more I learned he has a dynamic personality that will play well in the state of WI, recruited well nationally at a school not designed to recruit well beyond the mountains and WC. If they had won the WAC again, he raises his value beyond schools like WI and likely into the Urban Meyer range when he was at Utah. Utah was Meyer's second successful HC gig and he was incredibly successful every year (17-6; 22-2). I don't want to bury GA nor promote Meyer but he was not 1 more year at Utah St from being Urban Meyer circa 2002. Urban Meyer range might be a stretch, but 2 more good years of 9+ wins - which he has set up the team to do - and he could be viewed like a Chris Petersen at Boise State or Gary Patterson at TCU (before those schools joined major conferences)
  8. 3. And I agree with Mul, we're still a tier behind OSU and UofM, battling but prob still losing to Neb and PSU from a prestige standpoint. I wasn't making it about Diaco. I just used him as an example as a hot coordinator who's name has been thrown around. Nothing to do with you being an ND fan. Just out of curiosity, are there any names you can think of that would fit what you would have expected? The hot names come and go quickly, it's not like there's many guys with 3-5 years of success at mid-level schools.
  9. Just one great year out of 4. Would have thought BA could get more of a sure thing. I'm assuming that's sarcasm. Utah State was 9-38 the 4 years before him, and he went 4-8, 4-8, 7-6, 11-2 his 4 years there, with the last 2 years being mostly his players. USU's national defensive ranking went from like 115 - 110 -50 -15 his 4 years there as well. Very good hire. If no CP or PC, then he's prob the next best choice. I agree he's a good coach, the thing that would concern me is zero midwest ties. Like I've said before though, Wisconsin sells itself to offensive linemen and running backs so he's set there. Plus he's got a solid talent base already, a good fanbase, and lots of resources. Agreed. While he seems to be bringing 5-6 guys with him, I hope he rounds out his staff with Midwest guys. Wasn't he named Recruiter of the Year in 2005 or so? I guess that keeps me optimistic. Also, a lot of the USU players are tweeting that they only came to USU because of Gary Anderesen, so it seems as though the guy knows how to sell himself to the players.

He could be a great hire. But he's had 1 great year. Clearly he improved that program and that is a positive but it's not enough to convince me that he's the 3rd best candidate for this job. Let me ask you this: are you happier now than before BB left? I was actually a BB supporter. So I can't say I'm happy that he left out of the blue and our assistant coordinators were forced to accept jobs with 24 hour timelines at other places, more than half with BB. However, I can't say I'm happier with GA compared to BB. I will be happy if GA keeps the team and recruits together and continues to keep Wisconsin in the top tier of the conference. That remains to be seen. What I can say is that I'm happy that after all the events that have taken place since the B1G championship that Barry brought in a coach with experience, with a proven ability to not just sustain a program, but to build it from the ground up, and that seems to fit the Wisconsin philosophy. That 1 great year would be more than if we had hired Diaco or any other top coordinator without head coaching experience, and more than the seemingly other main candidate, Mel Tucker.

  12. Sure, but there is a much stronger chance that he loses in the SEC, especially since Ark isn't one of the top recruiting draws and I don't think BB's recruiting skills have been all that special. I don't know. I'm sure it was the money but looking at the long term it seems like a lateral, high risk move to me. Maybe he just doesn't like it here anymore. I'm hearing rumors that Alvarez might coach the Rose Bowl Yeah, how well did BB actually recruit? The Wisconsin brand recruits lineman and running backs by itself practically. Getting Russell Wilson was great but did he facilitate that or was the opportunity just right for Wilson? I don't think he did all that well, I believe Cryst and some of the assistants he took with him last year were mostly getting past recruits and doing a lot of game planning and prepping. BB is a pretty bad in game coach too (TO management, how he had drives earlier this year where he would sub 3 QB's in and out during it, etc.) I don't think he's all that big of a loss for Wisconsin and I think finding a comparable coach won't be that hard. BB was brought in to close some recruiting deals, but he relies heavily on his assistants to recruit, maybe more than others. BA will most likely run the prep for the Rose Bowl and be a fill-in as a head coach, but will give all playcallings to Canada (OC) and Ash (DC). If Barry has known for 2 weeks that BB was leaving, he should have his short list of 3-4 guys. I'd expect Paul Chryst to be on there, and he'd be great to bring back and keep continuality with the program and the players love him. Darrell Bevell is being thrown out, but I'm not a huge fan. Mel Tucker (former badger DB, current DC/Assistant HC Jack Jaguars) is an interesting name being brought up. Most want a Wisconsin man being brought in, as the feeling was that BB was never fully accepted by all Wisc fans, and that had a part in him leaving.
  13. Chryst can come back to Wisconsin any time he wants to now. We'd forgive him.
  14. Football and Basketball also don't have 8 developmental teams below their professional team. Financially speaking.
  15. The was the best game ever pitched in the history of baseball. Never have seen anything like that movement in my life. Sad to see him go. Maybe CSN or MLBN will replay that game sometime soon with him retiring? He's All 20 on Youtube at least. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nDgnfm3NOVY That curveball to Dave Clark at the 1:25 mark is just unbelievable.
  16. Another example of him doing what's best for the organization? Whatever his reason, way to represent the Cubs, on and off the field. =D>
  17. Sloth was a different kind of creepy. LaHair looks more...menacing and surreptitious. Like Doug Hutchison crossed with the Child Catcher. If his playing career bottoms out, he could have a future as a windowless van driving stereotype working as a janitor at an elementary school. http://images.t-nation.com/forum_images/7/6/76899_ORIG-javier_bardem.jpg
  18. Considering the ridiculous kerfuffle when it happened last year, yes, lots of people would care. Oh, tha Z kerfuffle. The kerfuffle of kerfuffles.

  20. If Marmol pulled a Z and packed up and left, would anyone care? Fans, management, team?
