  1. he started the season in the majors, right?
  2. yeah, that is so, so awful.
  3. of the infinite number of pitcher/batter combos that could arise in a matchup between the cubs and pads, russell v quentin might be the absolute worst possible one for the cubs.
  4. bad at what exactly? you appear to be arguing that past wins/losses aren't indicative of future wins/losses much in the way that past heads/tails are not indicative of future heads/tails. this is not correct. at all. Future baseball games are completely independent events from past baseball games, so the analogy is apt. if you were trying to predict whether a team was going to win its 101st game of the season would you want to know the results of the first 100? yes. if you were trying to predict the result of the 101st coin flip, would you want to know the results of the first 100? no.

  6. Probably nobody...because they're already 11 games under .500 and I'm pretty sure nobody here thinks this is a team expected to go 11 games over .500 over 2.5 months. So what you are saying is the model isn't so great for the Cubs? No. I'm saying the Cubs have underperformed their pythag and their pythag is a better indication of how they will play going forward than their record is. If you flip a coin heads ten times in a row, tails isn't any more likely to come on the 11th than it already was. lol, what a shitty analogy. you realize that a baseball team losing 10 games in a row isn't blind luck/chance in the way that flipping a coin is, right?* *pretty sure you don't.
  7. yeah, except w/l records for teams actually matter. good try though.
  8. If that's your worry, any time through 2018 is likely to be fine. the 2014 cubs currently have a positive run differential. can't wait to see them hang the "2014 run differential champs" banner.
  9. I'm guessing the last few games have flipped Baez' day/night splits.
  10. I've been wondering for weeks where he's getting those, but I was too afraid to ask.
  11. 11. the san diego chargers: not a baseball team, so probably not interested.

we're overlooking this gem... I mean, who knows that those numbers are, but one has a - in front of it and one has a +, so case closed.
  14. i assumed vitters was destroying the pcl the way kyle won't shut up about him. he's hitting .206.
  15. Tommy (Chicago) Kris Bryant yanked early in Tennessee this afternoon. Any word what it could be? Jesse Rogers (1:32 PM) Stomach flu. Don't get excited. Won't be at Wrigley tonight.
  16. yeah they were planning on continuing their big spending ways by going all in on mccann, but then they were like "nope, we got something here with castillo." zero credit to the front office for castillo. come on.
  17. MAJOR EYE ROLL what a horrible person. i also like how he imagines there some HUGE contingent of matt sczcur fanboys out there and IN THEIR STUPID FACES CUZ THAT GUY SUCKS.
  18. you're a joke, matt Williams.
  19. weird I never heard any "KEEP IT ON TOPIC GUYS" posts when people were posting fantasy 2019 major league lineups with all the cubs super prospects in the minor league forum.
  20. for what it's worth, a top FA, samardzija and wood is not a bad start to a rotation. however, 2 of those 3 pieces are pretty long shots at this point.
  21. whoa, that proposed rotation was supposed to make us feel better?
  22. our #2 bright spot is a guy with a 6.38 ERA...kill me now but the peripherals are good. feel better?
  23. The point isn't that he was right to say that; it's that he now plays for a team that also has no chance of winning big. If he really was so gung ho about winning he would have taken less to go to a legit contender, or even stay with Texas. the team he's on now has the best record in baseball yeah. that's probably not gonna last. yeah, joke will be on him when the brewers finish way ahead of the cubs in the standings instead of way, way ahead of the cubs in the standings.
