    no. deciding not to tank doesn't necessarily mean you're going to win 95 games. they could have "tried" and still been out of contention by july and thus still traded samardzija.

    disagreeing with calling him addy is not an old man thing. I know somebody with a daughter named Addison and the mother is constantly calling her Addy and it is incredibly grating on the ears. Addison Russell is no Addy. he just grasping at straws since "salad" didn't catch on.

    No one's saying it's predictive, but making Ross a punching bag without actually playing poorly yet makes even less sense. for one, I'd say he is playing poorly, as his lester magic hasn't worked and the only "good" he's done at the plate has been being walked intentionally. secondly, my biggest issue with him is how his presence leaves the cubs with a four man bench, half of which are catchers.

    i certainly don't remember seeing any of his outs and being like "oh tough break, that was so close to a hit." he's just kinda stunk. anybody hitting .091 is going to have "bad luck" on balls in play.

    the roster is kind of a mess right now...13 man staff and a bench of 2 catchers, szczur and an injured/blind/terrible olt. gross. they pretended they were short in the bullpen so they wouldn't have to call up valaika or whoever only to send him down 5 days later when the service time thingy passed. now they can pretend that they finally decided olt wasn't healthy enough and it's time to call up bryant...oh, what's that you say...now we get to keep him for another season? why we hadn't even noticed.
