    they are on the verge of sweeping a contending team on the road. thinking they might sweep a team 30 games under .500 at home in the last 3 meaningless games of that team’s season isn’t exactly crazy.

    yeah you definitely want to factor in an .094 batting average vs an .082 batting average when you're picking your playoff game starting pitchers.

    cubs only used three other relievers that game (one was mazzoni, another was Farrell for five innings). it is just mind blowing how many games the cubs went into knowing that multiple guys were unavailable. maddon absolutely sucks at the bullpen.
