  1. psst...dusty...the cubs are out of the wild card race. i'm glad i checked this thread, or i may have gone my whole life w/o seeing neifi perez compared to jeff francoeur.
  2. don't you ever speak ill of our savior again.
  3. well, at least no CG or SO for colon. time for that dude to tear the [expletive] out of the post-game buffet.
  4. meanwhile i've scored 100+ and i'm getting my ass kicked. have the orioles ever played baseball before? two line drive dp's in as many innings and fat ass colon is crusing. i'm a friggin' QS magnet...somebody had 6 QS in 7 starts against me a couple weeks ago, and now tootie is 5-5. go nccubbies!
  5. We need baserunners. i just thought it was funny that today was the day that neifi and his .300 obp decided that he was going to work a count.
  6. farns v. corey...two of the most hated cubs of the past two years.
  7. neifi played that ab like he was the kid on the little league team that sucks and tries to get walks.
  8. and yet our $12 million starting pitcher with a shoulder that needs 'cleaning up' gets in two out of every three games with the team in 7th place in the wild card standings. wonderful.
  9. i'm very upset that farns was traded. i think a lot of fans buy into the 'he was bad for team chemistry' line and are glad that he's gone....as evidenced by the boos he got when he came in. oh good, the continuing effort to have wood's arm fall off will continue.
  10. Hell.. you're having a great day. This one is far from over. yeah...right after i bitched, my team hit six homers. moral of the story: complaining works. nc, believe me, i was pissed last night when lowry got taken out. stupid alou doesn't mind ruining him to the tune of 120+ pitches, but he draws the line at 124! that's a really big swing...seven points at least...
  11. i would enjoy a week where i'm not looking up at the highest score in the league by tuesday.
  12. i don't have a spot locked up yet. if i go 0-2 in my final two, and HBC and buddiga BOTH go 2-0, i'd be out with those two (plus tootie) in. one win for me or a buddiga/HBC loss, and i'm in. needless to say, i'm a big nccubbies/SoS fan this week. i see mota found himself just in time for my matchup w/ tootie.
  13. here's the problem. the cubs continue to think that 87 win seasons are successes. so when the cubs finish with 80-83 wins this year, they see it as just missing having a successful season. we're just another jose macias away from making the playoffs!
  14. he's getting all kinds of respect on that cards board for his hilarious hijinx. and it's him replying to himself.
  15. Rusch pitched poorly on Saturday?? Did you watch the game and see the defense behind Rusch?? If Rusch doesn't keep his composure, the game could have been 12-0 by the 5th. The defense was crummy behind Hill against the Mets, but then you insisted it was on him. Can't have it both ways. Did Rusch give up 9 runs? oh, i forgot, you were the guy who said he's rather lose 7-1 than 9-1. So you can't admit that Rusch had a solid start yesterday? It must kill you to see him do alright. rusch pitched fine last night. he had some bad d behind him, so that was unlucky. but at the same time, there were quite a few hard hit outs early...plus he got a good call to save him from walking in a run. right now, i'm just not interested in watching glendon rusch have bad/mediocre/average starts in cub losses. what does that accomplish? and if rusch's start last night was 'solid' then so were hill's first two starts. and if that start by rusch was solid, then what would you consider hill's last two starts in AAA? phenomenal? other-worldly? koufax-esque?
  16. This is my last post to you dude. You're acting unreasonable. I'm not Corey bashing, I'm giving props to Hairston for his effort. If I was batting .230, I'd do whatever it takes to somehow get to first safe. If it meant sliding, I'd do it. yeah, except, as you've been told numerous times, sliding head first makes you come in slower. and i can't say i'll really miss corresponding with you.
  17. Showing effort, and having a desire to badly be safe at first base is classic? Why? because it slows you down. i'm just glad you found a way to bash patterson in an inning that he got on base and barrett, nomar, burnitz and hairston all failed to do their job. kudos to you.
  18. that's a classic post right there. hairston groundout > patterson groundout all because hairston dives into first base like an idiot.
  20. listen, dude...i DO see that he's making the same mistakes. has anyone anywhere said that he's playing great lately? it's just ridiculous that anytime he does anything, a new thread springs up about him when the rest of the team is playing just as crappy. now where's that 'burnitz has sucked for a month' thread...
  21. how about a thread for walker, who made an error yesterday and got picked off first w/ ramirez coming up? or for neifi, who grounded into a big dp and later popped up with a guy at 3rd and less than two outs? or for rusch, who was awful in the first inning yesterday and put the cubs in an early hole? or for lawton, who botched a fly ball yesterday and has done nothing at the plate? i guess it's just more fun to pile on the same guy over and over...
  22. If you were to scrutinize a player with a .267 OBP to the smallest detail, we'd have to devote the entire board to it. There's not enough hours in the day to scrutinize all the details of Corey's game. Truly, he's a very crappy baseball player by any objective measure and offers not shortage of ammunition. All those other guys you mentioned are trashed on a routine basis on this board. The difference between them and Corey is they don't have a group of apologists shamelessly making excuse after excuse for them. then you haven't read all the posts about those guys. corey sucks this year, no doubt about it. but it's ridiculous that he seems to be the #1 target of baker, the media and posters on this board when the club was sucking it up at an all time high when he wasn't even on the team. you read these game threads and sullivan's articles and it makes it seem like patterson is the reason the cubs suck this year.
  23. exactly. patterson was sent down, in part, because he was trying to hit too many homers, striking out too much, not walking enough, not going the other way, etc. murton doesn't do any of those things, and he was sent down. in fact, they even came out and said that he needed to hit for more power.
  24. i'm just glad there's a thread where every mistake, no matter how small, that corey makes is scrutinized to the smallest detail. you guys should do this for all the cubs' players. oh wait, you don't have it out for guys like hollandsworth, perez, rusch, lawton, etc.
  25. Rusch pitched poorly on Saturday?? Did you watch the game and see the defense behind Rusch?? If Rusch doesn't keep his composure, the game could have been 12-0 by the 5th. heh...were you making those excuses when the bad news bears were playing behind hill in ny? of course not.
