  1. i think there's a difference between pumping your fist in excitement (zambrano) and tossing your bat in the air like a pompous jerk (pujols). getting excited isn't showing up your opponent. that being said, zambrano gets a ridiculous amount of slack from most people here, and i get very sick of his antics. for some reason when he acts like an idiot, everyone thinks it's cool and he can do no wrong. and i don't like jones' or ramirez's post homerun style any more than i like pujols'.
  2. i was wondering if that was going to happen...i saw that it was raining pretty good when i got out of class. 98 pitches for hill...wonder if he was going to go back out for the 7th. even with some control issues in the 6th, still a great day for him. it'll be interesting to see what happens should marshall struggle tonight. What you got against Marshall? He's pitched decently. Just without the stamina. I don't see him going down until Wood gets back, unless he gets shelled twice in a row. i don't have anything against him...i've liked him for a long time. i just like hill better. plus, i haven't exactly been blown away by what he's done w/ the big league club. and it does kinda tick me off that he hardly pitched all last year, but his 10 ST innings got him a spot in the rotation, while hill's fantastic 2005 got him right back to AAA.

  4. Doesn't make any sense for Hill not to be part of the ML Cubs at this point. How he didn't get the nod over Guzman (pushed 1 day back instead of 3), I'll never know. how he didn't get the nod over marshall i'll never know.
  5. wow. i'd say that rusch, marshall and guzman should be watching their back, but they really don't have to, so i won't say it.
  6. ha ha I like it. If I were Hill, I'd be somewhat frustrated about Marshall and Guzman starting the next two nights. Not frustrated at either to them to be clear, but at myself for not really nailing the opportunity when I had it. I'd be so fucussed and ready to impress, just in case one of Marshall or Guzman stumble...or Rusch continues to struggle and Wood/Prior aren't back yet. Now is the time for Hill to impress before all the doors of opportunity close with the Cubs for him. if he's really the 9th guy on the depth chart, i wish the cubs would just trade hiim. they're not helping his career any by having him dominate AAA until he's 29. if he can't crack the rotation w/ williams and rusch sucking and wood, prior, and miller all hurt, i don't see how he's ever going to. and i wouldn't say that he missed his opportunity. sure, he had a few struggles during ST, but you can't expect him to be perfect every time out. marshall was fortunate to have a good run of 10 innings, and guzman has potential on his side. hill would've had to have matched marshall inning for inning during ST, and that would have been hard to do.
  7. furious that two balls were hit past the pitcher's mound (ground out and single to cf), hill demands that theriot throw away a potential double play grounder so that he can rack up some more k's...and then he k's the next two guys. iowa has guys on 2nd and 3rd after a soto double. hill: 4 ip, 2 h, 0 r, 1 bb, 7 k's, 65 pitches
  8. Why is he unable to do that in the majors? who says he can't? he had more good innings than bad when he was up last year. Consistancy is the issue I guess. and sample size.

  10. by the way, it's cold and rainy in des moines. hope they can get the game in.
  11. of course, neither does bynum. if you're going to waste a roster spot on someone that can't hit, i'd prefer that guy be able to at least serve as a defensive replacement at a position that could use one.
  12. even though it doesn't matter what you do, please continue to pitch well, rich.

    Week 4

:D And I still have Oswalt & Halladay later in the week. Look on the bright side, my offense is slumping. Well, other than Albert who is just a deity. i'm glad i won't have to face you getting a bunch of starts next week. maybe by then teams will figure out that you shouldn't pitch to pujols.
  14. You go to law school, right? I'm guessing that you've learned to parse through material a little better than this. what material did i mis-parse? Apparently, you are willing to give Wastra a pass by using only Jones as ringing proof as an indictment against Hendry that he had "no plan", yet me pointing to the superior bullpen he has assembled as one indicator that he DID have "a plan" is lacking? Not very consistent of you there. i have no idea what you're saying. i never said he had no plan.
  15. It's always relevant. yeah, she was at the wives' auction thing in mesa. and she is hot. it's not like she stopped being hot when koronka got traded. :D

  17. I just don't get it. The Cubs were frustrated by Corey's inability to be a more selective hitter, so naturally they go out and get a more EXPENSIVE, OLDER version of Corey. I just don't get it. I would prefer Burnitz to Jones. Jim Hendry = No Offseason Plan. Again. Funny. It seems like he at least put together one of the best bullpens in baseball, if nothing else. and a good bullpen is what % of a complete team? Listen, he had a plan. It might have not worked completely, and it might not have been the exact same one you or wastra might have wanted...but for some around here it's like pulling teeth to give Hendry ANY credit. And it gets old. so far his bullpen moves look good. but building a good pen and doing only that isn't anything to get all excited about. also, you say he 'had a plan' as if that alone deserves credit. i'm confused by that. and if you're so tired of my posts, put me on ignore.

  20. wow...six runs just scored really fast.
  21. let's all hope that the current coaching staff is fired before they can screw up murton and cedeno.
