    It's too bad that Ryu is starting tonight in Iowa. That rules out him helping tomrorrow. Wuertz can't be called up for a few more days if I'm not mistaken. Nice play by Ronnie! is there anyone else in iowa that's on the 40 man?

    the cubs may have to make a roster move after the game tonight. novoa won't be able to go tomorrow, and it's possible aardsma won't either. and rusch is pitching tomorrow. time to stretch out howry and eyre!!

    Maybe he's making up for bunting the first pitch of the game when everyone was expecting him to do so. pierre is overrated in so many ways, it's hard to find a place to start. however, i'll go out on a limb and say his bunting may be the most overrated aspect of his game. :? I wonder what his average is when he attempts to bunt? i don't know, but during spring training brenly told me he hardly ever is retired trying to bunt for a hit. since then i've seen it like 7 times.

    I don't think he exists. Hendry just made him up in order to make the signing look decent. the guy who ripped hendry for signing jones at the convention is feeling pretty smart these days.

    I would rather see Guzman. hill: 19 ip, 11 h, 5 bb, 23 k, 0.84 whip, 1.42 era, 1 homer allowed gooz: 16 ip, 15 h, 3 bb, 23 k, 1.10 whip, 6.61 era, 4 homers allowed

    Does Williams have any options left? who cares? seriously though, i don't know. guzman was roughed up in his last start, and his era is high. however, his whip, k's, etc are all really good...it's a strange set of numbers.

    Yep; that makes me a happy camper. :D At least when you go down this week you can take some comfort knowing that it's due to an ageless wonder helping the Cubs win. it's talk like this that inspires my team to jack three homers and a couple of doubles w/in a half an hour span to make your 20+ point lead a distant memory. lesson learned. There may be something to this. Today I keep my mouth shut, and I take back the lead. looks like i'll be up a bit going into my four start day tomorrow. could be up even more, but my team is 0-4 w/ 4 k's w/ the bases loaded tonight. :evil:

    hill's final (i'm guessing) line... 6 ip, 4 h, 2 r (1 earned), 4 bb, 7 k's well, the control he had over his first two starts left him a bit tonight, but still a good line. era goes up to 1.42. i wish the cubs would just trade him to stop torturing me.

    after the two walks... 2-5 forceout on a bunt basehit to left center in front of pie, loading the bases strike out swinging strike out swinging! 98 pitches.

    5+ ip, 3 h, 2 r, 1 er, 4 bb, 5 k's leadoff 8 pitch walk by hill in the sixth. then a 4 pitch walk. come on, rich.

    my guess would be that walker moves to first and theriot gets called up to fill in whereever needed. and thank goodness for that. your team's not complete unless you have 18 middle infielders.

    Why are you assuming the Cubs wont make a deal? for one, because the cubs love neifi. also, they're not going to give up the farm for two months of someone like sweeney, who will then sit on the bench making millions of dollars. if someone like clark or c. wilson was available for fairly cheap, then maybe they'd do it. this is why you get at least one power bat for your bench, and not a bunch of utility guys like macias, bynum, neifi, and hairston that can \:D/ play a lot of positions \:D/ people said that having a weak bench wasn't that big of a deal, but it is now.
