so you're saying they just need to get into 1st place in singles and they'll be fine, right? hurry and trade for someone else that can beat out infield hits!
actually lee's injury is a blessing to hendry fans. they can use his injury as the excuse for why the cubs' offense is so bad, even though the offense sucked w/ lee. it distracts from the pierre and jones deals.
i can hear the end of the year excuses already...'oh, derrek lee was hurt. he was the difference between having the worst offense in the league and a great offense.'
what's more shocking...that a team w/ a 100 mil payroll can have the worst offense in the league or that the guy in charge of putting together the 100 mil last place offense not only doesn't get fired, but gets an extension?
Would Barrett have blocked the plate anyway? No, he would have stayed in front of home like he always does and tried a swipe tag to avoid contact. :-s I'm not knocking him, just the strategy. I think if the throw is close or gonna be late, you can easliy get the guy out by blocking plate like Scioscia to buy time. For some reason, Barrett refuses to do this. barrett's plate blocking technique is about 592nd on the list of the cubs' problems right now.
lee or no lee, this offense is horrible. a gm that has a 100 mil payroll to work with should be fired if the end result is the worst offense in the league. end of story.
You do realize these guys are only 5.76% of the way through their contracts? i'll save this one for the daily pierre/jones griping. i'll save my response for your daily griping about daily pierre/jones griping.
he's got some balls signing on the sweet spot. he is definitely not deserving of the sweet spot. i would have laughed soooo hard if he would have dropped that.
