  1. he only threw a couple decent curves...both to duncan, i think. i agree though, w/o that curve i would have guessed that he would have given up more.
  2. oh, did i win the race to say that hill needs to be more like marshall who is talking to maddux in the dugout??!!!
  3. not a big deal...hill's had pinpoint control tonight. I realize you're being sarcastic, but what does your response have to do with my post?? i was agreeing with you. it was stupid to pitch out there...for the reasons you mention plus the fact that he hasn't had good command. and hill's probably thrown his last pitch as a cub.

  5. pitching out with a guy having trouble throwing strikes...
  6. rumor has it it may be back for one last season. and that's not how you wanted to start the inning, rich.
  7. i was making an effort to avoid this thread by watching the downstairs tv. the dancing show knocked me up to the den...and the computer. :D The dancing show? I wouldn't admit to that. my wife's watching the dancing show, not me. though i don't know if that makes it sound any better...

  9. AWESOME yes, thank goodness they are still trying. participation ribbons 'round the house.
  10. HE'S ONLY GOT ONE PITCH!~~~!! Rich Hill is not a starter! He never will be! I've been preaching this all year long... you have? You know I have. I said all along he's at best a left specialist. hmm...i don't seem to remember you saying that...IN EVERY POST YOU'VE MADE FOR THE PAST MONTH.
  11. HE'S ONLY GOT ONE PITCH!~~~!! Which used to be his curve, but he's been hitting 93 with the FB as well tonight. 2 pitches won't cut it for a starter but I think he could be a decent long relief man down the road. I think with that big curve and decent fb he can be a very good relief man you do?

  13. It was a pleasure doing business. :) well, it wouldn't be like i'd regret the trade if he went to detroit. he's obviously fared ok in rfk, so i wouldn't expect a huge drop off in detroit. my worst case scenario would be the nats signing him to an extension.
  14. that's the problem with how the cubs have handled this (and how they handled murton and cedeno last year). even if he's lights out for the rest of the year, i don't think that's enough to evaluate him. same goes if he's terrible. he should have been in the rotation a long time ago so they could get a better read on him.
  15. why's that? What happens if you're in an NL only league and these guys are on your team? Are you just screwed or do you get to keep playing them? i'd rather have lee continue to hit in miller park and the rest of the NL central. and if soriano's going to be traded, i'd rather it be to a better hitter's park than detroit, though that lineup would offer him better run/rbi chances. i think you're screwed if you're in an NL only league and you have one of them.
  16. if lee goes to minnesota and soriano goes to detriot, i'm going to be an unhappy fantasy baseball gm.
  17. Tick Tock Raisin, Tick Tock. why are you putting all that pressure on him? he'll propose to you when he's good and ready.
  18. ok, so i'm assuming everyone's putting all their players on waivers?
  19. which is exactly what you're doing for the offense. hill has not been good in his starts, but baker seems to want to completely blame him for those four losses, when, in fact, zambrano probably would be 0-4 in those games. of course, this is the guy who gave maddux credit the other night when he got banged around just as bad as hill did because maddux got the win (thanks to a bunch of offense), so i shouldn't be surprised. What does the offense have to do with Hill being terrible? nothing. but it has a lot to do w/ the team being 0-4 in his starts...a fact obviously lost on dusty.
  20. unfortunately, i agree. his offense might actually be tolerable as a cf.

  22. I sincerely doubt that. We were playing good baseball in April before Lee went down, and we didn't have Prior and Wood then. I think if everybody had been healthy, we'd been in the race. If the more likely option of just Prior and Wood on the DL, then we'd be around .500 right now. there is no way one guy makes up 22 games in the win column, which is essentially what you're saying would happen if just wood and prior were on the DL.
  23. who cares whether those players are comparable to the guys the cubs have lost? even if the cubs had an entirely healthy team (which, of course, never happens), they'd still be below .500, which is pathetic. think about how sad that is...a completely healthy team with a 95 mil payroll would likely be under .500.
  24. i sometimes forget that the cubs have scored ONE run combined in hill's four starts. yeah, dusty, it's all hill's fault.
