  1. As I was just saying on the game thread, what can Dusty say about Bynum's play that won't get criticized tomorrow? If he dismisses it as a regular play of the game, he will get criticized for favortism. If he says it was a mistake, then people will say he is biased against youngsters just like they said today. Basically, there is nothing he can say about a move like this that will be accepted. for some reason, bynum is one of baker's pets, and thus not considered one of those rookies who have ruined his season and possibly cost him his job. you know, like angel guzman (6 ip, 1 r, 8 k's tonight).
  2. i look forward to hearing baker rip bynum for getting picked off one pitch before jones' double.
  3. WOW! yeah, people were getting pretty much nothing but current i-cubs. i heard one person say they got prior. i may have gotten the best of the 3,000.
  4. the i-cubs were having autographed ball night at the ballpark tonight, so i headed down (didn't stay for the game). i used two tickets to get two baseballs (wrapped in a brown bag). i declared one to be mine and opened it....AROD!!! sure beats the cliff bartosh i got last year. brought the other one back for my friend...jae kuk ryu. i picked the right bag. :D
  5. If the first post talks about a Baker quote, and you don't want to partake in the discussion, the wise thing to do would be to clicking out of the thread. It takes more time to read the thing, and send a reply, than to simply wander somewhere else. That is my plan from now on...I felt that that someone needed to bring up the redundancy of this thread, however. That's it from me. if you don't want to discuss the cubs, baker, or each day's game, i don't know why you read the threads. what else is there to talk about? we surely aren't debating how the cubs should line up their playoff rotation at this point. baker's veteran fetish is blatantly obvious, and it hurts the team in the present and, if he's still the manager, in the future. i think it's a valid discussion topic.
  6. then so should the dozen veterans who have made similar stupid mistakes throughout the season. wasn't theriot just "hustling at the wrong time" like aramis did in milwaukee?
  7. i was at the 2003 game. larussa pitched to alou (4-4 at the time) in the 8th with simon on deck. jobo k'ed edmonds in the 9th. it was awesome.
  8. first of all, how bad is baker pining for neifi right now? secondly, has baker EVER criticized anyone older than 26?
  9. Agreed! I can't really remember a SS or 2nd basemen that has made so many poor choice decisions as Cedeno has. I hope people aren't talking about the throw home. That was the right move, he had Burrell by several steps, the throw was just not a good one. I disagree that it was the right move. In a scoreless game early on, you should always go for the gauranteed out at first. Especially when the pitcher who can't hit was due up next and would have been the third out. yeah, i think that was a horrible decision. take the out at first, strike out lieber, let them have their one run. if i had to pick one guy to keep between murton and cedeno, i'd take murton.
  10. your baker-esque boo hooing about injuries is pretty painful in itself. :D
  11. only thing yet to be decided is first place in the west. the six playoff teams have been decided, and GHS has clinched the east.
  12. did you guys hear all those racists booing jones? i don't even think it was because he was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double down 5-0...i think it was because he's black.
  13. len and bob updated by saying that one of the runs in the 4th was earned. pretty good outing by hill. he had really good command of his curve...he had trouble spotting his fb. cedeno's poor decision really changed the game.
  14. espn had two runs as being earned in the 4th. i would think that some would have to be unearned. if cedeno had thrown to 1st on the chopper, rollins would have never hit.
  15. Why....what did they do? 2 runs score on a grounder to SS, apparently a misplayed ball in LF, then HR to Jimmy Rollins chopper to cedeno at ss, who stupidly threw home to try and get burrell. throw hit burrell in the back and rolled away, allowing roward to score. only one run should have scored that inning. perfect example of letting the other team have the big inning...made even worse because lieber was on deck. just let them have their one run, let hill take care of lieber, and be done with the inning. Sorry...is this after Izturis was hurt? If so, how was he hurt? yeah, after izturis was hurt. don't know what's wrong with him. argh...tough break on a 1-1 check swing and then a homerun for utley.
  17. are we sure that's a real interview? a lot of that doesn't seem like hendry...
  18. i also find it amusing that on the same day that some guy on the radio bashes cubs fans for accepting crappiness and continuing to go to the ballpark, some guy at usa today writes an article basically asking cub fans to cut baker slack, not boo, and basically embrace losing.
  19. if anybody knows what a racist sounds like, it's dusty "white players can't handle the heat" baker. this is just stupid... oh, poor dusty baker. all these racists are trying to run him out of town, not because a 95 mil payroll team is 20 games under, but because they hate black people. newsflash...people want him fired because he sucks, not because he's black. quit trying to play the victim.
  20. how many of these articles need to be written anyway? we get it...some people in chicago are racist. but i'm pretty sure dempster and rusch have been booed just as much as hawkins and jones. enough of this pity party for this crappy team and crappy organization. add racism to the list of the cubs' excuses...
  21. i'll be the insensitive one and say i bet this is probably overblown. they make it sound like baker's walking into a klan meeting everyday. 99.9% of the people booing are booing because you suck at your job, not because you're black.
  22. didn't matter in the final score, but it's too bad papelbon got a blown save last night as he was very impressive. coming in in the 8th inning with the bases loaded, no outs, and giambi and arod coming up....then nearly escaping a runner at 3rd no outs in the 9th if not for a bloop by jeter. of course, cbs says he choked... anyway, williams' points didn't end up mattering. and i think i've clinched the division...even if i lose out and HBC wins out, i have the first tiebreaker by beating him twice. looks like i'll be seeing HBC or buddiga in the playoffs in a few weeks!
  23. even hendry/baker never lavished neifi with this kind of praise... false true false false false false false
  24. so you're saying that all teams get on base roughly the same number of times per game? because that's not true.
