  1. good for his dumps. too bad he hasn't thrown any baseballs with more talent than rich hill yet. Oh yeah I would much rather have Rich Hill than Felix. I really wish Rich Hill was close to the pitcher you think he is. sorry, i thought you valued pitchers on whether they had completed a full year of good pitching.
  2. Hahahaha. On a board full of hyperbole, this might honestly be the most far fetched and dumbest thing I've ever seen on here. since hill has been made a consistent starter since last season he hasn't been good?
  3. that's just flat not true. if he had nothing, they'd be hitting the balls all over the field...which they're not doing. take your sweet time, aramis.

  5. he is. were you saying this back in april when zambrano sucked? Yes, because one month is just that. Z has what, 70 wins in his career more than Hill? Oh and he is younger to boot. At no point in his career will Rich HIll be a better pitcher than Z. Here in about another month this season won't even be close. guess the second half of last year doesn't count either? Ok, you guys are right. Rich Hill is better than Carlos Zambrano. Lol. So Rich Hill has what kind of numbers for the second half last year plus this year? Compare them with an average Zambrano year. Oh look another walk. hill has been substantially better than zambrano over the last year. and hill's last year has been substantially better than z's career numbers. and z has only had maybe one year that could compete with hill's last year...and in that season, the only thing z has on hill is era (hill beats him in k/9 and whip). so in other words, you're completely, completely wrong. so yeah...i guess that's that. Right, except that Hill hasn't had a whole season at the big league level yet. But, hey that doesn't matter. Oh and he is 28 and having his first big year. And by big year he is a few more starts away from being on par with Z, who is having his worst year ever so far. whatever. your argument got torn to shreds, so you come back w/ something totally unrelated. it's not hill's fault that it's his first full year in the majors. sorry he's been awesome nearly 100% of the time since he's been made a starter. i guess the guy in your sig sucks too b/c he's never been good in the majors.

  7. these damn foul balls are killing hill. only one (maybe two) balls have been hit hard off him.

  9. he is. were you saying this back in april when zambrano sucked? for crying out loud they both have sucked this year at times. Zambrano earlier, Hill today. and looking at the first half as a whole, hill has been better.
  10. he is. were you saying this back in april when zambrano sucked?
  11. who needs a catcher? hill's winning percentage is through the roof.
  12. I may be out of the loop here, so forgive me if I'm offending anyone, but is Vance not playing any longer? No, Juan made a change. I've had the same problem w/ trade requests with that team as well. Who has the Severe Tooterstorms? Haven't heard back anything from him either. i never have much luck with either of those teams.
  13. i guess i agree with you to some extent. i'm likely not going to be making any blind offers on a player in a set up like this. i at least want to hear a starting point from the seller. i want to see the offers i'm competing with...i'm not going to be dragged into "i'm not going to tell you what this really great deal i've got on the table is, but let's just say it's going to be real hard to beat" situations. i'm not necessarily ethically opposed to it, i'm just not going to participate.
  14. i don't have a problem with auctioning off players, but it's frustrating (as a buyer) to not know what i'm bidding against. in that way, it's not like the major leagues. i could be offering way more than what everyone else has offered. or i may not make an offer, thinking that i couldn't compete with what's out there, and then when i see what it took i'm pissed. i usually find it easiest to deal with guys in situations like this when they tell me what their other offers are.
  15. if i knew what your offer was i could tell you if i could beat it.
  16. he's 13th in the NL in walks. Cause he's living off of his past accomplishments and teams are still pitching him cautiously. so? he's still being patient.
  17. and hill has a 140 era+. hill's gonna get screwed by the cubs' offense.
  18. he's 13th in the NL in walks.
  19. i've said that matt capps is available, but nobody seems interested...
  20. what difference does it make what the title of the thread is? is it not accurate? the trade was called off, presumably by the general manager, who is the person in charge of making or not making trades. i mean, hendry is the one that called it off, no?
  21. yeah, because car transactions between neighbors is JUST like player transactions between major league teams. come on.
  22. Murton in Iowa solid 6/4 BB/K ratio; doubles power and fairly low BABIP. I want to see him get that GB% lower.... maybe Von Joshua can help him add a little loft to his swing. He'll never be a big power guy, but hopefully he can be a doubles hitter like a Grace or Overbay. it seems like he's always hit a crap load of ground balls. worked out well for him at first because he always had a ton of infield hits, if i remember correctly.
  23. Yeah, so much for adding onto payroll like Hendry has said over and over again. And we're pretty much stuck with Jones if Zell won't let the Cubs eat his contract. Fun times. As people have stated previously, I don't think this is Hendry's fault. And moreover, I don't think he knew about the inability to take on payroll until this deal. Talk about a wake-up call you don't want when your job is on the line. How is this not Hendry's fault. He signed Jones to a stupid 3yr. contract that he can't get out from under unless he pays virtually all of it for another team. It's another poor move by a gm who's really a glorified scout (one that goes on instinct and little based on stats) who's in over his head. Beinfest was raking Hendry over the coals for the 3rd time --Willis deal, Pierre deal and now this. Zell was making both a financial and a baseball decision, in my opinion, by rejecting this deal. It made no sense. Just take a step back and really think about the scenario--pay a player almost 90% of his salary while he's playing for someone else and get little to nothing in return. and like everyone's said, that beats paying him 100% of his salary and getting nothing in return. it's not hendry's fault the trade got vetoed, but it is his fault that he gave jones a terrible contract.
