  1. why does everyone assume the cubs have the slightest bit of interest in salty? if they were willing to give a young catcher a chance, they would have already done it with soto.
  2. this is mind-boggling... can that even be right? my goodness, this is a big market major league team...that's pathetic.
  3. after seeing this trade, i almost want hendry to just do nothing.
  4. yeah, theriot's ability to play centerfield (??) has been paying off big time lately.
  5. cedeno at ss, theriot at 2b, derosa in rf. scary as it sounds, that might be the best the cubs can do. they need to upgrade this offense.
  6. i can't complain...at least he didn't go to somebody i'm fighting for a playoff spot.
  7. lots of high scores this week. pitching carried me this week...60+ points from my pen and 120 points from hill, guthrie and smoltz.
  8. if you think the cubs are going to continue to win games by dribbling grounders through the infield, you're in for a disappointment.
  9. umm...sorry, but jacque jones has rolled a couple twenty hop ground balls between infielders lately, and we all know that's going to continue.
  10. yeah, this offensive strategy of getting one guy on, having him steal a base, and then having the guy at the plate roll the next pitch through the infield on 16 hops isn't going to cut it.
  11. Not Theriot. ok...everyone on this team has, at best, warning track power.
  12. everyone on this team has warning track power.
  13. I dont see how well Cliff plays RF has to do with how well Matt plays RF. Matt didnt play well in RF. Maybe hes better since getting starts in Iowa but in the majors he wasnt very good. and if the cubs can live with floyd staggering around out there like he's got a wooden leg, i think they can live with murton.
  14. and people think murton can't handle rf defensively?
  15. if you only want guys who are consistently dominant, you're going to have a hard time filling out a rotation. nobody in the cubs' rotation comes even close to matching that description.
  16. and saltalamacchia only wishes he was russell martin.
  17. How exactly do you go about replacing Hill? He's a top 20-40 starter in the game under team control for the forseeable future. Wow, that is a bold statement. I think that that this is wildly untrue but I would be happy to listen to you prove it. THe jury's still out on Hill. He has yet to demonstrate that he can pitch consistently year over year. No stamina. If trading Hill is all it will take to get Salty, get Salty. the jury's still out on hill, but you're sold on salty's 133 big league ab's?
  18. awesome...i got the guy who probably won't sign!
  19. wow, bj upton is going plum nutty this week. good to see andruw getting it together...
  20. Bad stat. what do you prefer?
  21. yeah, this is totally the first i've heard about bonds and steroids. way to break ground, daily news!
  22. i was never too high on ward, but i'm still surprised at his complete lack of power. it doesn't even seem like he's hit any doubles.
