  1. but HBC has to face DE this week. his last four games are against the top four teams in the division. if i go 2-2 the rest of the way (with this week's game being a must win), DE would have to go 4-0 to jump me in the standings (due to me likely having the total points tie-breaker). if i go 2-2 the rest of the way with one of those wins being against HBC, HBC wouldn't be able to catch me (i think). but if i lose to HBC, i may be in trouble due to him having two wins against me. by the way, i really disagree with head to head being the first tiebreaker (if it still is?). i don't think there's any doubt total points should be the first tie breaker.
  2. who do i want to win the DE/HBC matchup? DE has an easy schedule the rest of the way, but i'll for sure have the tiebreaker over him. HBC's schedule to finish is just brutal.
  3. i have a bad feeling about this week...after my huge offensive week last week, i'm due for some mediocre hitting. also, i have to face four starts from billingsley and cook, who are facing some terrible offenses. thankfully, there's not a whole lot of pop in the maginos lineup.
  4. Teams may claim players just to keep proposed trades from going through if you do that. isn't that kind of the point? seems like it would be easier than me going through every team's roster and saying who i would claim. plus, you know half the teams aren't going to announce who they're putting on waivers. it'd just be easier to say i want to trade teix to someone for prospect A and you would put a claim in on teix, stopping the trade. then i can decided whether i want to pull him back. would have the same effect as me just putting him on waivers and you putting a claim in for him.
  5. just saw the white sox/royals highlights...if greinke hadn't hit a guy and been ejected, HBC probably would have won this week. as it stands, HBC and draconian empire will be tied one game out of the playoffs. myself and HBC both have grueling schedules the rest of the way (HBC facing the top four teams in the division...which i guess gives him a chance to control his own destiny), while DE faces three teams out of contention. my team hit a ridiculous .370 for the week with 17 hr, 51 rbi, and 47 runs scored. five hitters over 27 points and three over 39. if sherrill would have had even an average week for him, i would have hit 400.
  6. would it just be easier to put proposed trades here and allow people to make claims on the players involved?
  7. like i said in the scoring thing, those are the lengths of the game. the florida game started before the cubs game.
  8. it's hard enough to get one person to respond to trade proposals. i can't imagine getting a third party involved.
  9. false advertising. lame last day of trading overall. i had two trades out there (one for a week, the other for probably 2-3 weeks) that got no response at all.
  10. andy laroche blows. pisses me off that the red sox had a huge problem and teams apparently were more than willing to take him off their hands and allow the red sox to actually improve their team.
  11. So are the Pirates if any of the prospects they're supposed to get are any good. Exactly. Bay to Hermida is probably a lateral move, with Hermida being cheaper and having more upside. If they get a decent arm or 2 on top of that, they've made out. Florida is really getting screwed in this deal. Hermida and Tucker for 2 months of Manny? boston would be making out great in that trade. i don't know why any team would allow them to really win a manny trade when they're the ones in the corner.
  12. To be fair, he hasn't really given the Cubs anything to care about. well, that's just a stupid thing to say. he's a 28 y/o, dirt cheap lefty that was one of the best pitchers in the NL in 2007. i think that's enough to make the cubs "care" about him regardless of how poorly he's pitched this season.
  13. worst start yet? 3 ip, 5 h, 5 er, 3 bb, 3 hbp, 1 k
  14. it would be very disappointing if the red sox actually get better with a manny trade.
  15. do the cubs even care about hill at this point?
  16. baker's cub teams underperformed because they had a lot of injuries to pitchers and they had a horrible approach at the plate. it wasn't because they missed cut off men or whatever your high school baseball coach liked to stress.
  17. If that's what you want...you're in the wrong place, pal. The motto of NSBB is "question everything" it'd be pretty boring around here if all we did was "celebrate" victories. questionable managerial decisions are going to get discussed...it's a baseball message board.
  18. thanks.
  19. i know we have some new rule where a guy who has one ab in his first season would not burn an exemption. what were the limits for hitters and pitchers again? i thought it was 50 abs (?) for hitters...i can't find the original thread...
  20. looks like it's already postponed.
  21. man, the cubs can't trade this guy fast enough.
  22. it's not about me trying to get braun.
  23. i'm sorry, but this trade pisses me off. with two remaining exemptions braun is one of the ten most valuable players in the league. gordon's got fewer points than melvin mora. oswalt's the 83rd best SP in the league.
  24. yeah, oswalt's been great. and braun has TWO exemptions left. come on.
