  1. Ugly. I really wish that balk would have been called.
  2. You just pwned the hell out of fred. Yeah, Fred's stats are a little too superficial for me. I had to dig deep to find that gem. Great AB for Fukudome. Simply amazing.
  3. CUBS are 12-0 when they score more runs than their opponents.... 0-6 when they don't Go CUBS !! (Finally I found a split that the Cubs are under .500 with)
  4. If we don't add on to our lead, this is going to be a very good test for Wood.
  5. Big Z taken out. I could see the argument either way. Good outing, Z. You definitely deserve the W.
  6. Neither does mine. I don't get why 3rd basemen don't just throw over to first for the easy out. The throw isn't that much farther, and they do it all the time. Every coach would say to throw to first. Really stupid, considering Font is pretty speedy and had a leadoff. Exactly. Not to mention the fact that it is much easier for a 1st baseman to dig out a low throw or save a high throw than it would be for a 2nd baseman.

  8. Just curious, what do you suggest he should have done? attempt to go around him, just stopped but not ran back towards the bag. I have a question though - wouldn't Church have had an argument for interference if he would have ran into fontenot, fontenot was in the baseline. I believe the fielder has the right to field the ball and the runner cannot interfere. If he attempted to go around him he would have been called out for going out of the baseline and if he just stopped it would have been an easy tag and throw over to first for the DP. There was really nothing Church could do there. With the option he chose though, there is a chance that Fontenot doesn't think and just chases Church down allowing the runner to reach first. I guess running to second and trying to avoid the tag would have been a decent option too. At least then you force the ump to call you out.

  10. Hu would be a decent option if the cost was low. BA projects his ceiling to be at about an OPS of .750 with great defense. He wouldn't be bad if he's the 8 hitter on your team, but he's certainly not someone worth starting a fantasy trade scenario about.
  11. Agree. If we arent even going to let him play when our starting LF goes on the DL, there is no point in him even being in this organization. Trade him for whatever and let the kid have a real opportunity. This is ridiculous.
  12. Rosenthal's latest. Not that I condone trading Murton (especially for cheap), but I wonder what is the asking price the Cubs telling clubs who are interested in Murton? It should be very high. I'm not real big on the Cubs trying to trade Murton. He is cheap, and tremendous insurance in the event that either Soriano or Fukudome get injured. Nice call.
  13. At least we have a solid major league capable LF ready to plug in there (Murton). Now I'm not saying this team will be better with Murton than they would be with Soriano, but they won't be much worse. Murton provides a more patient approach who doesn't have that many bad ABs. I wonder what the lineup will look like now. My guess: SS Theriot CF Johnson 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Fukudome 2B DeRosa C Soto LF Murton but I would go with something like (assuming I can't put in Cedeno over Theriot): SS Theriot RF Fukudome 1B Lee 3B Ramirez 2B DeRosa LF Murton C Soto CF Pie I would prefer Theriot not to leadoff, but I don't want a 7-8-9 of Theriot-Pie-Pitcher. That's almost an automatic 3 straight outs.
  14. It's nice to see us beat the teams we're supposed to beat. I know it's early and I know we haven't killed the Pirates and Astros, but I'll take a (if we can hold on) 5-1 combined record against them anytime.
  15. Murton would have at least put it into the 2nd row.
  16. That's what she said! Ahhh! 20 minutes till the Office is back! Thank god for DVR.
