  1. Is Woody warming up? I'm really interested to see what Lou does here.
  2. He has no hit stuff today. Oh damn...he's not a starter.
  3. You just can't allow them to make contact with the ball. Good thing we have Marmol and Woody in the 8th and 9th. :D
  4. I can't even imagine the hilarious that would ensue. One may be invented after this game.
  5. the Cubs looked like they had absolutely no chance and wanted to rest a guy who could definitely use it. HOLY COW! 1 RUN GAME!!!!!!
  6. He looks like a real solid hitter. Too bad there's nowhere for him to play (unless they move Kosuke to CF). How's Hoff's defense in RF?
  7. But who do they replace him with? I have faith that Hendry could find someone worse. If Pie isn't going to play, then I'd be in favor of a straight Johnson/Lofton platoon. Kenny should be good for a .350 OBP against righties. I'd rather just give Pie a little time at AAA to get his confidence back up and then bring him up to start against right handers.
  8. LOL. I do have to admit, however, that the optimism is slightly refreshing.
  9. For what? That was clearly Jimbo's ball. Soriano made absolutely no attempt to go after it and just looked at Edmonds the whole time. Should he have held Edmonds hand while he attempted to catch it? I don't get what you're saying at all.
  10. I'd be surprised if Edmonds lasts more than another week or two.
  11. No. Not at all either. I think if the Cubs wanna go far in the playoffs they're going to need to aquire a #2.
  12. Swing and miss so we can allow the Rockies to run themselves into an out.
  13. Geo coulda took his glove off and threw that ball to 2nd left handed and still woulda thrown out Taveras. He's getting a horrible jump over there.
  14. I don't know. 85 sounds terrible, but 2004 was pretty damn horrendous. I had some serious visions of taking down the Cardinals in the NLCS. 2004 was the best team ever...on paper. Sosa, Patterson, Alou, Lee, Walker, Nomar (after the trade), Ramirez, Barrett with a rotation of Prior, Wood, Z, Clement, and Maddux. What could have been....
  15. Soriano is good at baseball. Overpaid? Of course. Are the final few years of his contract gonna be brutal? Most likely. But the Soriano haters need to lay off him. He had a rough start, but has been very solid the past month.
  16. Carlos Marmol, imo. Yeah, I don't see how he gets left off. Setup men rarely get selected, and if they do, it's usually the teams only representative. Others have been selected, but I doubt Marmol gets the nod with the pitching so far in the NL. A couple of other relievers will have similar cases, and they'll probably all be left off. Taylor Bucholz, for example, is about even or ahead of Marmol in all the categories besides strikeouts. Recently setup men have been getting selected much more frequently. The pitching has been pretty good in the NL, but I think Marmol will make it. Bucholz, as you said, is even or ahead of Marmol in a lot of categories, but Marmol has over twice as many Ks, 4 more holds, and also performed like this all of last year. I think Bucholz past may keep him off the team (he's never been bad, but never been even close to dominant), but I could easily see both being selected as well.
  17. It's nice to see Lou have confidence in Sean and then for Sean to get out of the jam.
  18. What happened to Vance? What was he suspended for and for how long?
