That's what I imagine would happen if they re-signed Dempster. Pay Marquis to finish out his contract elsewhere (aka trade him to a team needing an innings eater). But they won't get anyone to take all of Marquis' salary unless Littlefield gets another GM job. Also, for those worried about what re-signing Dempster would do to the ability to re-sign Harden, you can do the same thing with his contract with Lilly coming off the books after 09. I was thinking about this earlier. If Hill gets it all together, I wouldn't mind trying to move both Marquis and Lilly this offseason to free up some money and go with a rotation of Z, Harden, Hill, Dempster, and Marshall next year with Gaudin able to step in if needed. That would be ideal.
