  1. Yeah, that's what I figured. Is that going to be the offseason of Lebron?
  2. Wallace was due 14,000,000 through 2010 Hughes is due 13,655,268 through 2010 That's per year. Well in that case, a buyout isn't really a possibility, correct? They probably want to hold on to Hughes, though, so they have a big guard. Gordon or Hinrich have to be gone now. Not nearly enough PT for Gordon, Hinrich, Thabo, Hughes, and Brown next year. Any way we could work out a sign and trade for Brand involving Hinrich or Gordon?
  3. He is at 12 million this year. only one more year left. But actually, having is expiring next year might come in handy. And Wallace had 2 years left after this one? If that's the case, then this trade is even better than I originally thought.
  4. How do buyouts work for players with multiple years left on their contract?
  5. Yeah, I agree with this. I mean I always really liked Greene as a shortstop. He was a good defender and hit for power. His OBP hampered my enthusiasm for him, though. However, after seeing the splits and reading Meph's argument, I'm on board with the idea. I would expect a .800-.850 at least in OPS from Greene and much improved defense (specifically range) over Theriot. That's such a huge upgrade. It would make me giddy.
  6. hahaha exactly what i was thinking
  7. How is this thread 27 non-Premium pages? What the heck have you guys been conversing about?
  8. #-o A guy that can frequently pitch 7-8 innings and give up 4 or 5 runs, but never let the game get away has some value. Not every Tom, Dick, and Harry can do that. A guy with a 5 ERA doesn't consistently pitch 7-8 innings and give up 4 or 5 runs. He has some good outings and some outings where he gets rocked. Dontrelle only had 12 outings where he pitched 7+ innings and gave up 5 or less runs. So I would hardly call that "frequent". For the record, I don't think pitching 7 innings and giving up 5 runs is good. Not to say that getting Dontrelle is a bad move, but implying that wins is a good way to assess a pitcher is not smart.
  9. I don't agree with this thinking. The Cubs were not going to go into next year with Jones as their primary RF regardless of what happens with Fukudome. If they don't get him, they'll pay whatever price it takes to get somebody they perceive to be more attractive than Jones (even if that perception is wrong, or differs from yours.) It isn't Fukudome or Jones or somebody they perceive to be weaker than Jones. It's Fukudome or somebody they perceive to be better than Jones regardless. In which case moving jones and clearing some salary doesn't strike me as so dumb. In addition to that, if you first sign Fukudome, you might get less for Jones. Teams will know you are desperate to unload him and may give you back a worse player (apparently Infante had some value to the Braves) or make you pick up more of his contract. I really don't have a problem with trading Jones first. We must do better than him in RF.
  10. I'd believe what Bruce says over anything spewing out of Bruce Levine's mouth or MLBTradeRumors. Levine is a pretty good source, but he speculates more than "The Bruce". Which is precisely why I would choose to believe what Miles says over Levine.

  12. If I were to buy the 40GB PS3, is there anyway to get it to play PS2 games? The only game I give a damn about is Madden, which I own for PS2 and really don't wanna have to buy for PS3. I bought RockBand for PS3 so I kinda need to get the system now. Btw, does anyone know what the best deal is right now or in the near future? Is it pretty much just the $499 80GB with motor storm?
  13. That deal is only for Canadian customers. Maybe it was for U.S. customers when you posted it, but I finally got around to looking at it today and it's only Canadian. Sucks too, because I wanted to get the 80gb ps3 with motor storm and they were offering it with 2 wireless controllers for the same $499 that it's offered everywhere else. So basically I would have gotten an extra wireless controller (worth around 60 bucks), but I can't because I'm not Canadian. Sucks.
  14. I didn't realize that all his runs were that short. I think you make an excellent point.
  15. I had no idea the 40gb PS3 didn't play PS2 games. Good thing I read this thread. Anyways, what is the hard drive used for? That amount of storage seems like enough for saved games and media. What else can be stored on there? You could also spend an extra $100 and get the 80gb with Motor Storm for $499.
  16. I voted for Dixon here (pre-injury), but after watching that game yesterday, I do not see how McFadden does not get the Heisman. The only thing that is going against him is his team's record and Tebow's team has 3 losses anyways. DMac, in my mind, is the best player in the nation. So you think it should go to the best player in the nation? Well that doesn't happen that often. I believe it should go to the player who had the best individual season. That player is, without a doubt, Tim Tebow.
  17. I thought for sure it was gonna be either Texas or the White Sox. Wow...maybe Rivera is now going to be included in a deal for Cabrera? I don't know...I see that as being much, MUCH more likely than Matthews Jr. However, I don't really see the Marlins wanting either player very much, so I hope Jim Hendry jumps all over Rivera. Given age, salary, and skill, I'd much prefer Rivera over Fukudome. Trade for Rivera and Tejada and call it an offseason. We'd then have enough money to also resign Wood and give Prior a decent deal. LF Soriano 2B DeRosa 1B Lee 3B Ramirez SS Tejada RF Rivera C Soto CF Pie Not bad.
  18. I'll be pissed if Kerry leaves. He owes it to this organization to stay,
  19. Here's some 2008 projections James J.Loney .302 /.359/.465 /.823 CHONE J.Loney .284/.347/.431/.778 James M.Kemp .322/.365/.508/.873 CHONE M.Kemp .289/.337/.467/.804 Yeah, it'd totally suck to have those two hitting 3 and 5. Absolutely awful. James M. Murton .305/.373/.468/.841 James D. Lee .297/.386/.515/.901 Let's see. We want a higher OBP no? Both Murton and Lee are better than Kemp and Loney in that department. Lee's considerably better than Kemp and Murton's considerably better than Loney. Yeah, it'd totally suck to have those two hitting 3 and 5. Absolutely awful. The point is that you don't lose all that much offensively and you save a ton of cash. Cash is then applied to A-Rod. Also, D-Lee is on the downswing of his career and is only going to get worse, while Kemp and Loney are young and going to improve. Which would you rather have? Lee, Muton, and Theriot or Loney, Kemp, and A-Rod I'd go with the second option. Never going to happen, but that would probably be the best scenario for this team. Patterson, D-Lee, and Marshall for Loney and Kemp? Save a ton of cash? you'd save what? 15 mil? arod isnt signing for 15 mil We already have about 15M to spend. You save 15M or more by trading Lee. 15+15=30. I think we could have got A-Rod to sign to 25-30. None of this really matters, because there isn't any chance of it happening. I'm just saying that we'd be better off if we could trade Lee and others for two young players like Kemp and Loney, who have a good chance to be good for a long time.
  20. fixed First of all, you believe A-Rod is going to make $20M more than D-Lee? Hmm... Now that A-Rod appears off the market, I still wouldn't mind this scenario. You save a lot of money by dealing Lee.

  22. Why? Oh yes. He's under 30. I eagerly await the 35 home run seasons of guys like Shane Victorino as well. To be fair, many "experts" said Crawford had 30/30, maybe even 40/40, potential in his prime. I never heard such things about Victorino. I would be willing to bet a lot of money that Crawford hits 25+ homers 3 or more times in his career.
