  1. Well then he's not going to get traded and the Lakers are going to suck forever. Sounds good to me.
  2. The Bulls would need to gut the core to make it happen. Kobe will be paid $19.5M next season. That's more than the combined salaries of Hinrich, Deng and Gordon next year ($11M, $3.3M and $4.9M). Would it be possible to first sign Gordon and Noc to extensions and then trade both, along with the 9th (and the expiring contracts of Duhon and/or Khrypa if necessary) to the Lakers for Kobe? I think both teams would benefit from something like that. The Lakers are going nowhere with what they have now. Adding a young scorer in BG and a solid contributor with Noc and someone like Hawes at 9 would be a good start at rebuilding. Having a starting lineup of Hinrich, Kobe, Deng, Thomas, and Wallace would be sick. Sefolosha as the 6th man.
  3. The Bulls can only offer him their MLE unless it's a sign-and-trade. The Bulls are over the salary cap but under the luxury tax. So why would a sign-and-trade be possible but not a regular signing?
  4. I don't believe we'd have the money to sign him. Is there anyway we could do some sort of sign and trade with the Sonics? I remember the Pacers doing a sign and trade with Harrington last year with some sort of exception. If so, is that a possibility for us? I don't understand most of the financial part of the NBA. But yes, Lewis would be an excellent player to add to the team.
  5. Although the outcome sucked, the idea wasn't bad. Making the 2nd out at 3rd base is acceptable. There is a BIG difference in having a runner on 3rd with 1 out and having a runner on 2nd with 1 out. Lee was just trying to push another run across. The bullpen sucks.
  6. Bump. Still haven't received an offer....
  7. Even with Z performing how he should, I'd rate Fielder above him. Fielder is going to be a monster. He's already VERY good. I'd say he's a top 25 player right now and Z, when pitching how he should, is just a notch below that. So yeah, I'd say no.
  8. Howard also has hit a HR in about 36% of his major league flyballs... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Upton won't be able to do that. I'm also guessing that Upton may have a hard time sustaining his .451 BABIP. I'm not arguing that Upton = Howard. I'm arguing that a lot of strike outs don't necessarily mean much. The BABIP argument is a strong one that I do not debate. The strikeouts do mean something. If you are striking out that much, you have less opportunities to find a hole when you do make contact. Ryan Howard and other power hitters can get away with it by a lot of homeruns. Another way to get around it is to get on base alot via the base on balls. I'm too lazy to look up his stats but I dont recall him walking a lot.
  9. I also have 2 tickets available to the 5/30 Wednesday night game vs the Fish. 2 Bleacher seats. I just started an internship this week and the hours are hectic so I'm not sure what time I'll be working until that day. It would suck to miss half the game...and the soriano bobblehead! The face value on the tickets are $32 each. With fees I paid more than that, but I'd accept the ticket face value if anyone on here is interested in going. Just send me a PM if you're interested.
  10. Off topic, but sort of happy to see Drew struggling. I was one that wanted the Cubs to go after Drew, who would come cheaper than Soriano. I thought Drew would put up numbers at least equal to Soriano, and thought that injuries were the only real worry with Drew. All that said, Soriano still hasn't been as good as I expected. Back on topic, trade Jones. Please.
  11. I'd look to make a trade for a 3B. You can afford to trade an OF. Maybe Bonds, Lee, or ManRam. I think Fonz's value is too low right now to trade him. So yeah, maybe package Hall and one of the OF for a stud 3B. Then put Konerko in at Util and pick up one of those FA outfielders. You can also probably drop Lopez. He's been bad for a year and a half now. You have Hanley at SS so he has no chance of ever playing SS for you. The only thing is 2B. Kelly Johnson started off hot and then went very cold. He's done alright as of late, IIRC. I would look to upgrade 2B as well if it doesn't cost too much. If it costs a lot, then stick with KJ. He'll be good enough if you have all those other guys around him.
  12. Hmm...interesting. Hard to say if I'd want the Cubs to go after him without seeing how he looks. I guess it doesn't hurt to take a look at him.
  13. We can only hope. I don't think it's all that bad of an idea if done at the appropriate time. Dempster is not the prototypical reliever. He walks to many batters. I'd prefer Marmol at closer if he turns out to be as good as some think he can. So let's give the kid some time and maybe next year look to make him the closer. Then you could move Dempster to the 7th/8th in a setup role or possibly move him into the rotation as a 5th starter. His previous attempts at starting have been unsuccessful so I would be skeptical. However, he really sounds like he wants to start again and maybe he's ready to make the transition back to a starting role...just not now.
  14. Ohman against lefties: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 11 K Ohman against righties: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K Entire career is much of the same. (1.05 WHIP to 1.63 WHIP) We all knew that. Ohman should only be used against lefties. I'd use Wuertz, Marmol, and Howry in the 7th/8th and Dempster in the 9th. Leave Guz in the rotation. Guzman may not turn out to be a sucessful starter, but I would be willing to give him that chance. As long as its Marshall (and not Miller or some other scrub) then it makes it slightly more bearable. Oh well, hope it all works out.
  15. Apparently it would be on Monday. Most horrible decison EVER. Didn't they know I have to work 4-11 Monday? GRRR! However, I didn't watch much of game 4 and didn't watch any of tonights game (stupid work) so maybe it's best if I don't watch. That said, I'm off Thursday so I will be watching. After the Bulls won game 4, I said Detroit better win Game 5, or they will lose this series. I still believe that. Bulls have all the momentum and now they have game 6 at home. If they can manage to win that one, Chicago has a ton of momentum heading into game 7 and Detroit has all the pressure. They don't want to be the first NBA team to blow a 3-0 lead. Noc's prediction isn't looking too bad now...
  16. I think you'll be hard pressed to find anyone (Bulls fan or not) who thinks it will happen. However, like many people pointed out, if the Bulls do pull off the upset, it would make things verrrrrry interesting after that.
  17. As heartbreaking and disappointing as last nights loss was, I keep telling myself that the team is young and the future is still bright. Hopefully some ping pong balls fall our way and we get lucky. If not, we'll still get a solid player at 9. I probably won't watch all the game on Sunday (mainly because of Mother's Day) but I hope we win one so that we avoid being swept.
  18. If Rios is a FA, I hope you are playing in a 4 team league.
  19. The Cubs poor track record in the draft has led more to their poor record in the MLB than anything else--I believe. Hendry and his scouting staff have not done well evaluating and cultivating talent. They went for too many homeruns--and too many of them ended up as busts. I can name all the names, but you'll just puke in your mouth. I'm glad Stockstill is gone to Baltimore and we now have a scouting director that has a proven track record. In the long run, this will lead to a winning team on the field more than the $300 million spent in the offseason. Agree. Nice post.
  20. nah, if they make one FT Deron hits a 3. Pietrus should have hit at least one of his FTs. Warriors blew this one.
  21. The Bulls are in the 9 slot heading into the lottery. So they could pick 1-3 or 9-12. Ninth is by far the most likely, of course. Unless its 1-3 I'd trade it. What if it's not that heavily valued? I'd rather take Hibbert or Hawes than trade it just to trade it.
  22. The Bulls are in the 9 slot heading into the lottery. So they could pick 1-3 or 9-12. Ninth is by far the most likely, of course. Hmm...didn't know it worked that way. I thought they just pulled out the 4 balls and matched up the combination for each spot starting with the #1 pick and going all the way down. I guess that explains why I always got 9th or a top 3 pick when I was doing that lottery simulator.
  23. I'd be willing to bet my life that the Bulls do not select Jeff Green. My money right now (pre-lottery) is the Bulls will land in the 7-10 range and get Roy Hibbert. Spencer Hawes, Yi Jianlian, and Al Horford are other possibilities depending on what draft pick we get. I don't think Horford will make it out of the top 5. Which is why I said "depending on what draft pick we get". I think it'll be 7-10 range, but it could be higher. Hopefully we can get lucky and get a top 5 pick and have a chance at Horford. Hibbert or Hawes wouldn't be a bad consolation prize though.
  24. Tyrus Thomas's hopefully can continue to play how he did last night. I know most of his play was in garbage time, it's still significant. If we can get him going, that will be very big for the Bulls. The less P.J. Brown the better. We need Ben and Luol to shoot better and Nocioni decide not to suck.
