This is a joke right? Kevin Durant could outplay Luol Deng right now. Let alone in two years when he is a legit 30 point a night guy who can actually break his man down on the dribble. While that may be true, Luol Deng is pretty close to becoming a star. He's already a very solid player and he's still going to get a lot better. They want to stretch his shot out to the 3 point line this summer. You are going to see a very scary Luol Deng next year. That said, if the Bulls somehow managed to win the 2nd pick, I'd try to swing a deal with whoever wins Number 1 to get Oden. If that isn't possible, take Durant or possibly trade the pick (and high salary...Ben Wallace?) for KG. Nope. If we get a top two pick, I don't want a guy in the wrong side of his career. I'm a huge KG fan, but I'm not giving up Oden/Durant for him. If you don't give me LBJ, Kobe, Wade, or Duncan, you're not getting our pick. Oden and Durant are going to become elite players in the league. That is true, and I'd probably not do the deal. I just can't help but think KG on this team (without losing Deng, Gordon, Hinrich, Noc, Thabo, TT, etc...) makes us favorites to win the East and possibly favorites over Dallas, Pheonix, and San Antonio. I don't think you can facilitate a KG deal without one or two of the core guys being in it. Minnesota's asking price was pretty ridiculous from what I've heard. I don't think it's a secret that KG wants out of there because of how upset he is with management, but they're still going to try to get a real good deal out of it. I don't see Paxson trading Big Ben after we just signed him last offseason and I don't see Minnesota wanting Wallace either. If we do end up with a top two pick, I'd be ecstatic with the team we'd have. Oden/Durant, Big Ben, Nocioni, Deng, Gordon, Hinrich, Thomas, and Thabo are your main guys. I'd say that team would be a good enough team to compete for several titles without having to make a trade. Of course, this is all premature thinking in that we win the lottery or get the second pick. Yeah, haha. I think Minnesota would do the trade though. KG doesn't want to be there. IMO they'd put up with a few years of Ben Wallace if they get to draft Kevin Durant. However, like you said, it's hard to give up a chance to draft a young player with as much talent as Durant for a guy who's been around a while. All this probably doesn't matter, because I doubt the Bulls get a top 2 pick. Doesn't hurt to dream though.
