  1. I'm gonna guess Milwaukee takes Brandan Wright.
  2. Yeah, top 4 seemed pretty obvious. Now is where it gets interesting... I like Horford better than Conley, but Conley seemed like a better pick for Atlanta. Not sure I'd rate Horford ahead of Conley - Conley has a much higher ceiling and has elite PG potential. Horford is the safest pick in this draft after Durant, though. If I were Atlanta, I'd have taken Conley. Yeah, I guess the liking Horford stance comes from a Bulls perspective. I'd rather have Horford because he is ready to step in and seems like a sure thing to become at least a good starter in the NBA. But I agree, Conley's ceiling is probably higher.

But Atlanta does have tradeable assets to get a PG, plus the #11. Yeah, they'll probably end up taking Acie Law.

  5. So what are we looking at with 6, 7, 8 and who's gonna be there at 9?
  6. Horford...figures. Please have a trade to the Bulls coming up.
  7. what the rumors with the teams picking 6, 7, and 8 (MIL, MIN, CHA)? Probably Horford and Conley will go 3 and 4 and apparently Jeff Green 5th.
  8. Eh...the 5th pick wouldn't do much for me unless Horford or Conley is there...they want Jeff Green though...?
  9. I AM STEPHEN A. SMITH AND THESE CHEESE DOODLES ARE DELICIOUS!! haha. i remember that from last year. pretty funny.
  10. Yeah i know what you're saying...but Ohman is very good against Lefties. Tough call.
  11. I'm sure he would have gone on DL anyway. I don't think so. They waited till the last minute to DL him because they wanted to keep him on the roster. I highly doubt he'd be available to pitch, but he woulnd't have been DLed. I think they wanted to keep Dempster on the roster incase he felt better by the weekend to pitch against Milwaukee.
  12. Petric, Ohman (against righties), or Eyre...take your pick. Howry is unavailable.
  13. We've heard that it's a lefty from low-A Greensboro, so if that's true, it eliminates Ungs. So that then leaves Tom Cowley (age 23) - 65.1 IP, 3.31 ERA, 49 K/18 BB Avi Rasowsky (age 24) - 19.1 IP, 5.59 ERA, 20 K/7 BB For the amount the Cubs are paying the Marlins should do better than that. Not as good as Sean West, mind you, but better than that. Aaron Thompson please. He is a lefty and in Single A, however, it's High A Jupiter and not low A Greensboro. Maybe someone got their facts mixed up? I sure hope so. If we're picking up almost all of Jones contract, we better get a solid prospect back. i don't know why people keep saying this. if the cubs were taking on a multi-year obligation to a past his prime OF with an OPS of .600, would you expect the cubs to give up somebody good to get him? No, but Jones had a decent season last year. It depends how much we pay him. If the Marlins still have to pay 2-3 mil then I don't expect much back. But if they pay less then that, then we should get a decent prospect in return. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense to trade him to a potential wild card contender and pay for him to potentially revert back to his form of last year and become somewhat productive. I'd rather cut him than pay for him to play somewhere else. there's really no difference between cutting him + paying him his contract while he signs with florida for $500k and paying him to pay for florida. So if we were to cut him and then he signs with FL for 500k, that lasts the rest of this year AND next year? I thought it was only for the rest of the current season.

  15. No kidding. If the Cubs are paying the majority of the salary, they better get something good in return. You don't get throw away prospects and pay for all the salary. wanna bet? the cubs were desperate to get rid of jones, he's not very good, he's expensive, and he's got another year on his contract. the cubs will pay a bunch of $ and likely get very little in return. Then we should have DFAed him and released him a long time ago. Why pay the Marlins to have a potentially productive player in their lineup for the rest of the year and all of next year for nearly no cost?

  17. They bailed out Eyre. He can't just sit every game if he's on the roster. Ecspecially with a 5 man bullpen (which includes a LOOGY). Stop blaming Lou for the top of the 9th. He didn't want to pitch Marmol, Ohman, Howry for the 3rd or 4th straight day. This is on Hendry/Eyre/Howry.
  18. Wow. Thank you, once again, Shooter. Wow. Just wow. Len's call was perfect there.
  19. He was getting hit pretty hard when they took him out and it was a 6-3 game at that point (I believe). Brought in Wuertz to get out of the jam, which he did. IMO, Lou did everything right tonight. I would have liked to see a mound visit when Howry was gave up that 2nd single, but trying to get a 3rd inning out of Eyre in a 5 run game was the right move.
  20. Like who? It would have been Marmol and Ohman's 3rd day in a row also I believe. Wuertz and Eyre were already used. When you have a 5-man bullpen, you don't have many options. I don't blame Lou completely. It was a 5-run lead and he wanted to avoid those guys going 3 days. Exactly. I blame this on the players and Jim Hendry. Demp is HOPING to be back by Friday. Why not just DL him retrospective to whatever day he was injured and let him sit a few extra games. Better than rushing back and reinjuriing himself and in the meantime we don't have to deal with a 5 man pen consisting of a horrible pitcher and a LOOGY.
