They have Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy, 2 guys that a lot of teams would love to get their hands on, especially one about to embark on a full rebuilding phase. Also, Im thinking that the Pads will try to package Peavy and Khalil Green like the Marlins did with Becket and Mike Lowell, in which if a team wants Peavy, they'l have to take Green as well. Greene as a throw in for Peavy? Where do I sign up? I'd be all about buying low on Greene. If they're looking to dump him after a bad year, they're essentially giving up on him and selling low. I'm all about buying low on him. I bet they'd be interested in Theriot to replace him. He's cheap, has a decent amount of time until his FA years come up, doesn't project to be too terribly expensive, and is one of those "gritty" guys that the fans love. If we can't put something worthwhile together for Peavy, and they're trying to use Peavy to dump Greene, then heck, I say offer Theriot for Greene straight up. That said, I didn't think they were that down on him that they'd be looking to dump him in a package deal like that. They strike me as a team trying to rebuild completely. I dont see them contending any time soon, so they mat just try to get as many top prospects as they can. I wouldnt be surprised if they try to move Adrian Gonzalez, whose signed through 2010 as well. Not in a package deal with Peavy, unless it was one hell of a package, but they could probably get a nice return for him as well.
