  1. When you have Ted Lilly vs. Joel Pineiro vand the Cardinals without Ludwick and Ankiel and you shut down Pujols, normally its an easy W.
  2. I dont care what anyone says, now that we know that Ankiels OK, I find that video quite enjoyable.
  3. In the Cubs defense, I sometimes have those days at work when I just want to sleepwalk through the day and go home.
  4. Cubs on their way from the saddest offensive performance of the year, and theyve had some sad, sad offensive performances this year.
  5. We have 3 innings, and probably 20 more pitches to remember that Joel Pineiro is not Greg Maddux, Roger Clemens, and Jake Peavy rolled into 1.
  6. I predict we get swept and see a total of 210 pitches in the process.
  7. The goal for this inning is to try and make him throw at least 5 pitches.
  8. certainly if we lose this game we can pack it in. still, with Carpenter and Wainwright coming up, we could easily get swept if we lose this, and that would suck.
  9. Innings dont get more worthless than that. We'll get him next time through.
  10. Jackson with 6 hits through 5, but 7 Ks.
  11. In 2006 speak, Scales is Theriot and Freel and Miles are Macias and Neifi. While we dont know what Scales is capable of, were already pretty confident that Freel and Miles are capable of nothing.
  12. Vitters is becoming the Jake Fox of the A circuit. Im wondering if Id even trade him for Peavy at this point.
  13. the other possibility is that ramirez stays good into his mid 30s; the cubs have a need at 1B and shift ramirez to 1B as he gets older/slower and put vitters at 3B. Micah Hoffpauir doesnt like you very much right now.
  14. The good thing about this season is that there are plenty of stop gaps available who have been mentioned earlier in this thread. If Baltimore and Colorodo are out of it by July, which they should be Huff and Atkins will be available. Also Wiggington and Mora if we get desperate. Hank Blalock could be available for the right price even if the Rangers are in it. Russ Branyan is having a monster season with Seattle, but I really cant see that lasting too long. Hes the epitomy of a sell high candidate for them.
  15. I cant imagine the rage that would result on this board if that were to happen.
  16. If Pujols gets anything remotely hittable without at least have a 5 run lead Ill be very dissapointed.
  17. In all seriousness, if his defense is really that horrible and unsalvageable, now is the time to shop him around to some AL teams. Hes 26, and has been with us for 7 years. When does he become a minor league free agent? If we could get a respectable reliever or maybe a back up middle infielder who can hit the ball a bit, its better than nothing. Even a Ty Wiggington or Russ Branyan would be acceptable.
  18. he can't. is slightly below average a possibility?
  19. We might just have to petition a move to the AL. Wed own the AL Central, although I dont like the idea of facing Greinke that often.
  20. He could always have a social anxiety order.
  21. Cant tell if your kidding or not, but Rickie Weeks injury doesnt make us the favorites to win any more than Aramis going down makes the Brewers favorites to win. If Gamel becomes an every day player, this could make the Brewers offense better.
  22. Marquez Smith seems to be really getting the hang of AA. After a rocky start, hes hitting .328 and OPSing in the .800s, which could be higher, but his avg. and OPS are the same, meaning he might not be the most patient hitter in the world. Still, at age 24, it could be time to push him to AAA befoe he becomes one of our specialty 26-29 year old AAAA players. Iowa doesnt seem to have a natural third baseman anyway.
  23. Is this the guy who they say used to punch his players in the face when they mess up? Maybe hes been working with Lee and Soto lately. They seem to be heating up. Just take care of Fontenot now and then send him to the bullpen.
