  1. I really dont see Harden back after this year. Hes going to want a multi year, and some team will be reckless enough to do so.
  2. I think the consensus on Fox is that he'll one day be a solid DH over in the AL.
  3. Assuming the Cubs run out of their money and trust the farm system rather than go after sub par veterans SP-Jeff Samardzia SP-Jay Jackson SP-Dae Eun Rhee SP-Andrew Cashner SP-Casey Lambert 1B-Rebel Ridling 2B-Tony Thomas SS-Starlin Castro 3B-Josh Vitters LF-Brandon Guyer CF-Tyler COlvin RF-Kyler Burke C Steve Clevenger C Wellington Castllo Bench Marquez Smith Bench Ryan Flaherty Bench Josh Harrison Bench Darwin Barney BP Ryan Searle BP Greg Reinhard BP Dan McDaniel BP Chris Archer BP David Cales BP John Gaub CL Chris Huseby I know, never going to happen. Still, cool thought iff all of these guys would pan out at the big league level..
  4. I prefer Lambo. Too much of a Packers reference.
  5. We'll take him off their hands, but they'll get Aaron Miles and not a penny more.
  6. C-Lamb(thats his new name as long as hes good) is cruising through 3 with 2 hits and 3 Ks.
  7. I can see this arguement lasting until mid august.
  8. PECOTA had the Yankees with 97 wins, the Red Sox with 91 wins and the Rays with 89 wins. So 8 games behind New York and two behind Boston. If the Brewers are going to win 95+ games, they'll have to win 70 of their final 123 games. They'll also have to have Dave Bush continue to put up a higher ERA+ (118) than he's had since he was 24 (and pitched 16 games). Hoffman will also have to stay healthy all year and Todd Coffey and Mark DiFelice will have to continue their unbelievably good seasons (career high 143 ERA+ for Coffey and perhaps greatest ERA+ ever of 311 for DiFelice). I guess it's all possible, but very, very unlikely. I could see Bush having a Ryan Dempster/Oliver Perez type of walk year and parlaying it into a 3-4 year deal before slipping back into mediocrity.
  9. Everyone expected the 2005 White Sox and 2008 Rays to fall off. It never happened. Obviously, that has no effect whatsoever on what the 2009 Brewers will or wont do, but they're good examples of teams that nobody expected to do much and they did. Say what you will about sabermetrics saying that the Cubs re statistically superior to the Brewers, but Im sure those same numbers would have the '08 Yankees and Red Sox much better than the Rays. 117 wins? Not so much. 95-100? Its quite possible. Im just glad theres a wild card that were the definite favorite for.
  10. Last night, we made Joel Pineiro look like a Cy Young winner. Tonight, we make a CY Young winner look like Joel Pineiro.
  11. He doesn't - he's on the 40-man roster. After 2009, he's also out of options. That being the case, we need to call him up or trade him. If what you're saying is we lose him after this year, we have to at least see if we can get something like Ty Wiggington or Russel Branyan for him.
  12. I cant imagine a responsible manager who cares about hi players leaving in a pitcher whose been out over a month with no rehab assignmnet in there too long. However, TLR just might.
  13. I dont know about that, but if their pitching holds up, they could easily run away with the division. We should still have little problem taking the wild crd though with our only real competiton being whoever doesnt take the East between the Mets and Phils.
  14. Thanks for the personal insight/observations Ping. Question. I'm interested to see Ridling and Harrison so far down on your list. Does this have to do with ceiling, or are there other specific factors. I only ask because they have both performed well this year - especially in relation to a few players you have above them. I'm not being critical of your list, but since I haven't seen either of them in person, I was hoping you could expound a little on those two. Thanks in advance. I definitely would have expected Harrison to be a bit higher up and for Huseby to at least make the list. I cant believe that Burke is only 21. It seems like weve had him for eternity.
  15. Sounds similar to Kevin Greggs Saturday outing.
  16. Any status on him? Is he expected to pitch at all this season? Ive heard nothing on him since the surgery.
  17. I cant imagine the Padres not wanting him in a trade for Peavy, if that ever happens. Hes our top pitching prospect, well top pitching prospect that wasnt given a no trade clause before hed ever pitched in a professional game.
  18. Soccer, you really enjoy the insults, don't you? That said, these are not robots out there. These are human beings. Human beings are constantly affected by emotion. Many slumps in baseball can be psychological. That's why we see many of the rituals all across baseball. If you don't think that consistently getting whipped in the post season will eventually have a negative impact on team psyche, you are not thinking very clearly. Speaking of "probabilistic anomaly", how about 101 years? I guess that's just bad luck. The cubs just draw the crap side of the crapshoot for a century. Go get 'em next time, boys. Adjustments are for hacks. The 1910, 1934, 1952, 1969, 1983, 1996, and 2009 Cubs have about as much to do with one another as the 1988 Expos have to do with any of the afore mentioned Cubs teams.
  19. Between Carpenter, Wainwright, and then 3 games at PetCo, we may not see much offense until next week.
  20. Eh, we still have the wild card lead by percentage points. Considering the 2005 White Sox...I mean the Brewers are never going to lose again, were going to need it.
  21. Ill feel better when Chris Carpenter is being helped off the field in the 3rd tomorrow.
  22. pretty much. the approach isn't bad (despite what everyone in this thread seems to think), but everyone in the lineup is just getting poor cuts at hittable pitches. it happens. I'm sorry, how is first/second pitch hacking a good approach? I'd much rather see hitters work counts, which the Cubs seem opposed to--this evening at least. Cubs are usually much more patient. My guess is that someone said to jump on Pineiro early in the at bat and they took it too far.
  23. Proof that Patton, Cotts, and maybe Heilman shouldnt be on our roster.
