  1. I'm sure the Mets are looking to acquire more than a 1B who can't hit anymore. And I'm all for playing Hoff more, but Soto will come around. However, if Lou saying that he'll play Hill over Geo if he doesn't turn it around soon lights a fire under him and gets his bat going, then I'm all for it. But wouldn't you say Soto already is coming around (or even has come around)? His SLG is still pathetic but he's got a .280 BA and .362 OBP in May. Yea thats my problem with Lous comments. Lee has shown signs of life, as has Soto, and now is when he talks about making changes. Lee has shown signs of life for a few games at Wrigley with the wind blowing out. Neifi Perez used to show signs of life in those situations too. Is that you badnews, or is it JeffH?
  2. That's the biggest question I'd like answered about him. I can't imagine any reason he's not signed, unless it's just simply that no team really needs a second baseman. The Dodgers were the last team that really needed one and for them it was between Orlando Hudson and Durham (given that, I'd take Hudson every time despite my fandom of Durham). I was reading on MLBTR that when Weeks went down, the Brewers briefly discussed Durham but his agent said it would take him a few weeks to get readt.
  3. Everybody but Helms or Crosby doesn't really make much sense. Because were do they play when Ramirez comes back? . We worry about that when Ramirez comes back.
  4. A list of potentially available third basemen: Mora-yes Beltre-yes Atkins-take him if not other options pan out Wigginton-I suppose Huff-top choice Tracy-probably not available Helms-no thanks Crede-too injury prone Blalock-top choice Crosby-no thanks DeRosa-definitely take him Kouzmanoff-take him if no other options pan out Does Branyan have any 3B experience? maybe theres still some lightening left in that bottle.
  5. Cant disagree with any of this If it would cost something or worth, I could see them being aprehensive about it, but the most wed lose would be Freel, who isnt used anyway or Scales who can be called back up in 10 days if Fox is a disaster. Seriosuly, the guys putting up monster numbers. Its not like the above average numbers that DuBois and Snyder put up that you question how those can translate to the big show.
  6. What are the Mets going to give us for Fox? Fernando Tatis or Angel Pagan? They really dont have anythig we need, not that theyd be willing to trade anyway. As soon as Bradley gets benched, the Bradley era ends. Knowing his and Lous peronalities, it would lead to a great big mess.
  7. Wait, are you talking about Fox coming up and catching? That's a horrible idea, since he can't do the whole "catch the ball" part of the equation. I think Im easily the biggest Fox supporter on this board, and even I cant fathom the idea of him behind the plate. As soon as guys like Marmol and Zambrano start getting wild, it will be a disaster.
  8. Lous basically frustrated at this point. He knows he has no replacement for the guys who need replacing, so hes blaming the guys who he potentially can replace.
  9. As soon as Hendry puts down the big mac and tries to make a move. Options are available. They wont be as good as Ramirez, but they'll be better than the quartet we have now.
  10. I was going to say doesnt Tenn have a better option than Robnett, but between Adduci, Robnett, Ty Wright, and Guyer, theyve all been brutal offensively.
  11. I wonder if Brian Roberts is a possibility. The O's aint going anywhere this season, but have some great young players to build around in Jones, Markakis, and Wieters. Is Roberts really in their future, or would they rather use that money on pitching, which they sorely lack?
  12. oh shizzy, thats gonna be off the hizzy.
  13. Poreda and Richard were the Sox 2 top pitching prospects. Laporta and Gamel never had any business in the same organization to begin with.
  14. I dont think Marshall will ever be appreciated until he puts up a 22 win season with the Cardinals.
  15. I dont know if theyve approached Peavy yet, but I have to believe that he'll at least want Towers to try to see if one of his prefered teams will match the offer. I remember him saying that if he had to go to the AL, hed [refer the Angels, and theyve already shown interest.
  16. For the record, Id much rather he end up with the White Sox than the Brewers.
  17. Looks like everyones trying to plug in their holes but us. seriously? if there's a good thing about hendry it's that he's not the least bit shy about making mid-season deals to help the team. We need help now, not mid season.
  18. Looks like everyones trying to plug in their holes but us.
  19. Sox are offering Richard and Poreda. Pads want top pitching prospects and we dont have anything to match those 2. Its all in Peavys hands now. However, hes in for a rude awakening next year why Dye, Konerko, and Thome are gone and hes essentially back on the Padres.
  20. Again I really wouldnt be surprised to see Fox brought up sooner than later. Yeah, Id rather make a trade for Huff or someone along those lines, but Ive heard 0 talk about it. The best thing to do with him is bring him up for interleague, let him DH and hope he can be good enough to entice some AL teams. Baltimore would be an ideal landing spot for Fox. We seem to have a good relationship with them and their DHs are Wiggington and some guy named Nolan Reimhold with a .726 OPS. Id take Huff, Wiggington or Mora.
  21. If he really is willing to go to the NL, I have to believe that the Angels are going to jump back into the mix.
  22. nice grammar he's from wisconsin, what do you expect? :P I thought he was from Houston.
