  1. There are anti Hendry, fire Hendry, Hendrys killing this team comments all over this board by a lot, a lot of posters, but for some reason, you decide to go full force about this one. Ive never claimed to know whats going on in the Cubs front offices. granted, there are those who seem to think they know a bit more than they possibly do. I actually find you quite entertaining at times but seriously, I think you over reacted to that one comment.
  2. Funny you should say that, as I post my opinions, and eveything you say seems to be in a matter of fact type of way. We get it. you're edgy. you're sarcastic, but when it comes to this type of situation, you dont know anymore than I do or any of these other people who you so enjoy talking down to. I think I'm "edgy" because I don't spaz out on a message board over complete conjecture? Define "spazzing out", as I havnt heard said term since I believe 1988. Or maybe you just read a bit too much into one comment, possible?

  4. For all we know this could be happening. Axelrod mentions on the podcast that since December everything has been much more private. There is discussions right now but it will not be publicized. Who knows if those discussions are with the Cubs or not, but one thing Im sure of is none of know for sure what is going on behind the scenes. God knows Hendry isnt doing anything else worthwhile. i bet he's just sitting around eating donuts lololol God knows LLF has no clue what he's talking about. If I knew half as much as you seem to think you do, Id be off trying to cure cancer or achieving world peace, but I dont, and I doubt you do either or else you wouldnt be frequenting a message board.
  5. The move that causes us to get Peavy will be the one where Rickets completes the purchase of the team and gives Hendry the go ahead.
  6. Assuming its as mild as they say, the DL stint is retroactive to his last start, which I believe was Sunday, and he misses 2 starts. Assuming its as mild as they say. I guess it makes sense. Not only does Harden get some R&R, but we get a chance to see what Wells is capable of for a few more starts. We knew they were going to do this type of thing throughout the season. Another indirect result is Ascanio gets to try and prove himself, as does Patton.

  8. That is not the worst, but that is still pretty bad, as you'd have to put him on the 40 man, burn an option when you send him back down, and start his arbitration clock. That has ramifications down the road that are really bad. Oh yeah, I fogot about the business end of the transaction.
  9. I suppose the worst that can happen is he comes up and does exactly wht Fontenot, Miles, and Freel are doing right now and goes back to the minors with a better idea of what to expect when his time comes.

  11. While Peavy really should not be our top priority here, if they really did want him, whats to stop Hendry and Towers from discussing the potential pieces of the deal and then as soon as the sale is complete its done and all thats left is paperwork? Surely Hendry has a better idea of how close it is to completion than the rest ofus. Afterall, they'll be in San Diego all weekend.
  12. Well then heres to being stuck with garbage until at least september unless Lou actually goes through with his bizzaro Soriano plan.
  13. You you dont think that Baltimore, a team in constant rebuilding mode whose desperate for pitching would trade a 37 year old in the last year of his contract for a couple of AAAA pitchers, because I think they just might.
  14. When someones desperate for starting pitching, they will. It makes so much sense it makes my head hurt that nothings happeneing. The Cubs and Orioles love making pointless trades with eachother. So why not make on that wil ACTUALLY help both teams. Id trade Heilman+Fox for Huff. Wells+Fox for Mora. Kevin Hart, JR Mathes, or Mitch Atkins+another prospect for Wiggignton. Hell, Heilman+Atkinsm Hart or Mathes if they want for any of the 3. 2 teams with a good relationship that could and should help eachother fill their needs by trading un needed players. why isnt this happening? Heilman is 30, only signed through this year and not an outstanding pitcher. A rebuilding team has little to no use for him. They might be interested in the Harts, Atkins and Wells of the world, but I can't imagine much interest in Heilman. Mora, Huff, and Wigginton are all free agents after this year. Id gladly send them 2 of Heilman, Hart, Atkins, or Wells for Huff or Mora or 1 of them, preferably not Wells for Wigginton.

  16. No, Im not suggesting that we sign Adam Eaton. Im just suggesting how much the Orioles need pitching. I would gladly trade Heilman for Mora or Huff, maybe even Wiggington, but Id rather send someone like Kevin Hart for Wigg.
  17. None of them are particularly good at baseball. If take any 1 of the 4 as a utility guy, but when you have them all there at once, its crappyness incarnate.
  18. Except I don't see many 3B out there to get. The usual names Kuzmanoff, Beltre, Atkins, Mora, DeRosa, Wigginton, etc. certainly aren't worth Heilman (let alone Heilman plus prospects). Also, I would think you want somebody that will accept a backup/pinch hitter role and can probably fill in at other positions. DeRosa/Loretta/Aurilia/Wigginton/Belliard kind of player. Are you serious? Heilman has sucked his way out of favor with Lou. Guz has won the 7th inning job and Randy Wells the long man. Heilman will be relagated to mop up. I say sell while we can and fill our biggest need.
  19. Cubs are gonna lose the game and it will be quite a shame we should call up whats his name because we really suck.
  20. I wonder if wed be able to dangle Heilman out there as trade bait, maybe package him witha few prospects to get a 3B or 2B. By keeping Wells around, he likely gets the job Heilman had, but if we trade Heilman, we can keep Ascanio around and they can keep their precious Rule 5 gem. Heilman man not seem like much, but hes one of those guys that a pitching starved team could take a chance on.
  21. He's putting up awesome numbers, but that still doesn't guarantee success at the major league level. I'm not trying to argue that Fox will be unproductive, but Hoff is currently putting up a .929 OPS in the majors and is the better bet to produce now - which appears to be Lou's goal. I agree fully, but I just want to give him the chance if all were sacrificing is a player we really dont need anyway and if it comes down to it can be easily replaced. I'd love to give him a chance, but he simply can't play defense. It's the same reason I don't like the idea of Soriano to 2B and Hoff to LF, great offense negated somewhat by awful defense. I'd be fine with calling up Fox to come off the bench, but not to start. Again, I agree. So basically Fox and Hoff are Ward and Floyd. Worked in '07. Still, dont tell me theres a part of you that wouldnt like to see that Sori/Hoff/Fox experiment just for a game or 2 vs. a bad team.
  22. A-soapdropping-men! Most especially when the Cardinals sans Pujols are a AAAA team but, I take it with grain of salt, come September or maybe even July when they're healthier and playing better that sweep will be returned and then some. Agreed. Im sure we'll sweep someone we had no business sweeping later in the season. This is a mess to watch, but surely the offense will get cranking, and I have no reason to believe that at least the starting pitching wont stay consistant. It reminds me of those 2 stretches last year, 1 just after the ASB and the 1 in early september last year. Were down by 4 games roughly a quarter through the season, but thats like being down by 5 in a basketball game after the first quarter. Still, Id like at least a minor trade just to stir things up a bit.
  23. No, but it definitely sets a market for him. Basically 2 top pitcing prospects and 2 PTBNL. Unfortunately, we dont have the 2 top pitching prospects. Wed have to see if Marshall and J jax would constitute that. If Shark didnt have that NTC, it could be a different story. Clayton Richard is a not a top pitching prospect. Pretty much this. Jackson + Marshall would measure up to Poreda + Richard pretty well. Sounds like Towers is getting desperate then. I cant imagine Hendry saying no had this been Towers request during the off season. Damn the clustermess that is our ownership situation.
