  1. Blalock is much better than Cruz, Byrd or Murphy and Andruw is still a question mark as to how well he'll produce all season. I could see them trading Blalock for pitching (and it's probably a good idea), but I don't think they'll be begging us to take him. I would think they'd insist on Marshall - at least for a while. We could probably get them to take Heilman instead. Also, Jake Fox could really thrive in Arlington. those 2 plus a prospect or 2 could do the trick.
  2. That sucks badly. I just want him to return 100%. However long that takes, I'm cool with it. It wont be long before teams are begging us to take guys like Huff, Atkins, and Blalock off their hands, so I say go out an get 1 of them and let Ramirez take all the time he needs. If the Rangers start begging us to take Blalock off their hands, I'd more than happily take him off their hands for very little. He can play 1st and 3rd and will likely produce a mid .800s, low .900s OPS. They really dont need him. The like Chris Davis at 1st and Michael Young at 3rd, so hes essentially a DH, and now that Hamiltons back, they have Andruw, Murphy, Nelson Cruz, and Marlon Byrd to pick from, so if we offered them some decent prospects and salary relief, we could have a deal.

  4. Bite your tongue, no matter what the context.
  5. So if this game is rained out, would Milton be suspended for tomorrows game, assuming its not a double header or whenever they postpone this one to?
  6. At least you user name fits better for this series than those vs. the Brewers
  7. So basically Ryan Theriot meets Milton Bradley. Sounds like a decent enough playe, but not exactly what we were hoping for from Vitters. Are you being sarcastic? Im just saying Id like a bit of a higher OPS from Vitters. When your dealing with a Theriot type, a high avg. and a mediocre OPS is just fine, but for a third baseman, especially a top prospect, Id like some better power numbers. Didnt he have some good ones with Boise last year? Still, I know hes just 19 and has quite a ways to go in his developement.
  8. My lineup prediction 1. Soriano LF 2. Theriot SS 3. Fuku CF 4. Lee 1B 5. Hoff RF 6. Soto C 7. Font 2B 8. Scales 3B 9. Wells
  9. Lou also said he likes Scales, so maybe he'll stick around as long as he keeps doing what he has been.

  11. The way Fox, Snyder, and DuBois are absolutely dominating the PCL, its almost frusterating that we dont have spots for them. I didnt realise that Snyder was a former 1st round pick, number 18 by the Indians in '03. Hopefully all 3 get called up in September and we can get a glimpse of what theyre capable of.
  12. Iowa up 16-3. Snyder and DuBois with 2 HR each and Das Wunderkind is 3-5 with a double. Shark with a meh 2 ER on 6 hits in 4 innings. 3 Ks and 0 BB to go with it.
  13. I could have told you during the off season that you could have gotten just as much production out of Bobby Scales and Sam Fuld as you would out of Aaron Miles and Joey Gathright.
  14. Is this a Meph riddle? I thought it was a Haiku
  15. Im curious to see how Hendry does without the endless money pit that was the Tribune.
  16. I dont know. Im not saying hes going to keep up this pace, but hes a veteran. Hes clawed his way this far, and hes going to do everything he can to stay. Thats mare than I can say for Aaron Miles. Weve seen his ceiling, and its nowhere near impressive. Even if Scales can hit .280 and OPS in the low-mid .700s, hes an upgrade over Miles and maybe Freel.
  17. Kind of feel bad. Not only did we dominate the Daddys, but they lose their SS in the process. I wish we could help them out. Now if only we had an extra middle infielder to send them.
  18. You mean the one that should have been served when he was injured and Lou never fathomed the idea of Ramirez going down for 2 months?
  19. Macias is a few more of those away from demanding a trade.
  20. If he gives up anything to a Padre not named Adrian, its an automatic demotion to Daytona.
  21. He's happy that the Cubs are starting to play better so when he gets traded to Chicago in a couple months, he'll be going to a good team. i know that peavy is a great pitcher, but shouldn't the cubs have some leverage in any trade negotiations? the padres are clearly going nowhere the next couple of years, and they'll be paying peavy a lot of money to pitch well for a terrible team. plus he has limited the number of teams he will go to. it seems to me the cubs shouldn't have to give up the farm for him. I think you're right, but given the condition of our farm, it wouldn't take much to deplete it... I can't see a deal being done unless Vitters is shipped, for example If it means winning the big show, I say deplete the farm to the ground.
  22. So are we going to see us some Ascanio action today?
  23. Even if it is just a fluke, you need to ride the hot hand as long as you can. Its not like theres a superior option right now.
  24. Jake Peavy and Adrian Gonzalez may be the first 2 players in history to literally attempt to escape from their team. When its time for the Pads plane to depart, and neither is anywhere to be found, I wont be surprised.
  25. Gaudin? Gaudin isn't spanking anybody. 1 hit 1 run and a bunch of walks through 4. We should be doing better.
