  1. Why do we always get spanked by ex Cubs, especially those who were railroaded out of town? Lord help us when we face the Indians.
  2. Im really starting the think that the only way to keep up with the Brewers is to never lose again. As bad as their starting staff is, they seem to put up 6-10 runs a night like its nothing.
  3. So wait, why do we pitch to Adrian Gonzalez who happens to be surrounded by 8 easy outs?
  4. Miles is fast becloming the new Todd Hollandsworth. When first signed, I thought it was a pretty decent move for the bench, but when he started to start regularly, I though enough is enough.
  5. At the time, he seemed like a solid, veteran backup for Ramirez who can alos play 2B and the outfield. It sounded good to me at the time when I never anticipated him as our starting third baseman for the next 2 months.
  6. There wasn't any incentive for the Padres to trade a cheap outfielder by the name of Jason Bay (along with Oliver Perez) for Brian Giles, either. But it happened. We do seem to have some people on this board who seem to think that all Jim Hendry has to do is mantion Josh Vitters and Sean Marshall and all other GMs begin to salivate and offer up all their top players.
  7. Gonzalez/Peavy would probably cost you DLee (plus cash), Marshall, Vitters, Castillo, Soto, and Marmol. Done and done. Maybe try and give them someone besides Castillo so he can maybe come up and take Soto's spot eventually. Soriano Fuku Ramirez Gonzalez Bradley Theriot Fontenot Hill Peavy Zambrano Lilly Harden Dempster Bullpen pit of dispair pit of dispair pit of dispair pit of dispair pit of dispair Guz Gregg
  8. Does anyone have Foxe fielding stats? He has only 2 errors on the year. Is he as bad as they say? Bad enough to deny his bat? Of his 43 hits on the year, 26 are for extra bases. Thats pretty damn impressive.
  9. That's pretty bad when Ryan Theriot is the power bat in your lineup. Oh and flip flop Fonts and Scales, you can't have two lefties hitting back to back. [-X Haha. I just couldn't make myself put Bobby Scales 6th in a Cubs lineup, especially on a good team, no matter how good he has been so far. I agree fully. swithc Scales and Lee.
  10. As bad as theyve been this year, that sickly division is well up for grabs. Dye, Konerko, Thome, and AJ are all nearing the end of their contracts, and I doubt any of them will be resigned, so why not go all out before its time to rebuild? Sign a few ols guys who last year proved they can still play the game. Granted, they'll be an old, old team, but they'll be a powerful one. Ramirez Durham Quentin Thome Konerko Dye Edmonds Fields AJ Is an old, but imposing lineup
  11. Actually Contreras has been sent to the minors. That happened a few days ago. And the reason for that is that hes been horrible since 2005, so we really dont want him no matter what.
  12. It probably has at least a little to do with his approach. He was so effective going the other way into right field with those singles, thats what the Cubs asked him to do. I guess it was his best way to help the team. Basically, when pitchers pitch to him, they are looking for teh fly ball out to avoid his specialty single down the first base line, so hes expecting that these days and puts more of a jolt into it. Its Sneaky power I tell ya.
  13. Strategy: dont pitch to Adrian. That is all.
  14. I'm quite confident that our backups are capable of beating Gaudin. Hell, I generally feel better right now with Hoff and Scales over Lee and Miles anyway. Much like the Giants, out backup lineup is better than the Padres regulars. Just keep walking Adrian. When theres a hitter that good in a lineup that bad, theres really no reason to ever give said hitter anything hittable.
  15. Hardy got took out a couple innings ago due to a headach. But besides that, no one. Weak. fixed
  16. I hope it wasnt that delightful Ryan Braun. That would be a pity. It was probably Brad Nelson or that other guy who started the other day or someone like that.
  17. AG easily. We already have one of the best starting staffs in the game. Peavy was basically a nice little luxury that almost fell into our lap.
  18. Now lets hurry up and get 2 more innings so it isnt all for naught.
  19. Geomavany Sota! Sorry if Im a bit rusty, its been a while.
  20. Im about an hour and a half north of Chicago, and it just started pouring out of nowehere, so I really dont anticipate a game this evening. Since it is the Lost season finale, Im not too upset about it.
  21. Its a solid but not spectacular line by Jackson. Iowa leads 2-0 early on a 2 run double by some guy named Jake Fox. Marquez Smith seems to be figuring out the next level. hes 2-3 and his avg. up to .263
  22. How is that not a popular sentiment? I figure there are a lot of people out there who are fans of the team and want to see them win. Dont get me wrong, Id rather they win than lose, but if they lose, its not going to ruin my night, especially if our key guys down there have a nice game.
