  1. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090701&content_id=5648408&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc See ya Monday Aramis. I hope you brought you're life jacket.
  2. I think that Fontenot could be a start to work around a trade for Sanchez, but we'll have to add on a lot better than Heilman and Cotts.
  3. While I do fully trust you're knowledge of the farm system, weve already been through a few of our best AAA relievers, and I have no reason to believe that Parker or Stevens will change that trend. Maybe they will, but Id rather aquire a veteran. However, we might be better off adding guys like Parker and Stevens who have had success in the AAA bullpen, rather than Hart and Ascanio who have seen the majority of their minor league success as starters. Ive heard 0 rumors about Bell going anywhere, but I wonder if whoever stated the rumor confused the 2.
  4. So McCutchens black. You learn something new everyday.
  5. lol after one at bat be serious As a leadoff hitter, I am being serious. Its something we need. When Sorianos hot, hes middle of the order material. When hes cold, he has no business in a major league lineup. Theres rarely an in between for him.
  6. I like where this is going, and I already like Sam Fuld as a leadoff hitter better than Soriano, and NO, Im not saying that Fuld is better than Soriano.
  7. THE Matt Craig? The one who floated around our farm system from 1987-2008?
  8. My guess is they want to see what, if anything Fuld can do, and maybe seeing if the once untouchable can generate any trade interest.
  9. The bullpen is 4th highest in MLB in BLSV and has an ERA that is almost in the bottom 1/3 of MLB (19th). However, I agree that this moves makes no sense without an improvement to the offense. The Padres have 1 bat Id want, and thats Adrian GOnzalez, and we really dont need help at 1st. Yeah, if we ould get Adrian, Id find a way but I doubt that if the Pads were to trade him, it would be at a reasonable price.
  10. The only way Id make that trade is if we were to use the money saved to trade for Matt Holliday. Otherwise no. I still have faith that down the stretch, Bradley and Soriano will pull it together. Luis Castillo, not so much.
  11. Likely managerial candidates: Alan Trammel Bob Brenly Larry Rothschild Ryne Sandberg Steve Stone? Davey Johnson? Willie Randolph I'm sure there are some young candidates I'm not thinking of, but this would be the primary group, I suspect. Jody Davis. ANy chance Bobby Valentine could be persuaded to come back to our side of the pond?
  12. Take Milton Bradleys attitude and Corey Patterson wasted potential and you have Lastings Milledge.
  13. Not all trades go through a heavy rumor cycle before happening. But it's probably not a legit rumor. Yeah, I have trouble believing that after uncermoniously dumping Trevor Hoffman theyd go ahead and trade his heir apparent whose under team control for 2 more years.
  14. I really did. I didnt think hed do what he did in ST, but I thought he could be a solid .280/.800 15-20 HR type of player. I woulndt have traded DeRosa though, Id have prefered let DeRosas contract run out and then give Font a chance in 2010 and hope for Type A status for DeRosa. But again, I couldnt have foreseen the series of events that would have followed and how much we would have needed him. Imagine if we lost Zambrano or Lilly for 6-8 weeks, and Sean Marshall proved to be garbage, maybe a lot of people would be criticizing Hendry for trading Marquis. Hindsight is 20/20.
  15. The thing is, on paper, Hendry didnt put together a bad team, not this bad anyway. Granted, he over paid for these players, but they're still good players that should be scoring runs. Theres no point firing Hendry now, not until the off season anyway. Its not like firing him will undo the moves he made. There was a lot of risk in his moves an none have paid off. I just want the piece of mind that he's gone out of the way. I hated the Miles signing from day one and was leery of Bradley as well. Hendry has a lot to answer for considering the nosedive this team has taken based off a lot of those moves. Then there is the Soriano thing..... ](*,) I dont think you'll ever find anyone to disagree that the Miles signing was idiotic. As for Bradley, there were a lot of critics about that deal, but even the critics were more worried about his attitude and health, not so much his production when healthy.

Theres no point firing Hendry now, not until the off season anyway. Its not like firing him will undo the moves he made. I agree with this completely. Definitely. If Hendry is to be fired the time to do it is in the offseason. And I really hope to God that anyone who wants Lou fired seriously does not want Brenly to replace him. Why Brenley? If be all for giving Trammel a chance though. His one chance as a manager was with an awful Tigers team, and it wasnt until Leyland took over that they decided they wanted to put a real team together. Trammel got shafted. As for Hendry, while I dont agree with many of his moves, theres no way that he or anyone would have predicted the kind of production, or rather lack there of from Bradley, Soriano, Fukudome, Soto, and even Fontenot. Remember, when Font was putting up huge spring training numbers, people werent missing DeRosa. It wasnt until Ramirez went down and Font turned to crap that the DeRosa trade became the worst trade in baseball history since Babe Ruth.

  18. Tyler Colvins sat out 2 straight. ANything wrong with him?
  19. So if we are looking for offense, The only places I can see an upgrade are 2nd or SS and move Theriot to 2nd. Theres Cantu and Uggla, but Florida is know to overprice guys. With any other team, I bet the Brewers would trade JJ Hardy for a pitcher like Marshall or Wells, but they have no interest in helping us any more than we do in helping them. Theres always the pipe dream of moving Soriano to 2nd and getting Holliday, but thers the questions of how much damage does Soriano do there, how much do we give up for a few months ofHolliday in prospects, and can we afford him monetarily. I suppose the Pirates are trading everything thats not nailed down, so Freddy Sanchez would be a good pickup, as would Teahen from KC. In the end, any of these guys would be nice additions, but I cant seem any of them, aside from maybe Holliday being the type of players that can turn this ship around.
  20. If this trade is so close, why hasnt MLBTR, which picks up every little rumor or proposal gotten ahold of it?
  21. Lou is the reason those players are underperforming? Theres something going on. This is not a 0-3 run/game team. Someones doing something wrong, and someone needs to figure it out. So far, it hasnt been Lou.
  22. If Shark gets a spot in the rotation and Marshall stays in loogy duty, Marshall goes on a killing spree. book it. I just hope we dont end up giving the Padres everything of ours that they want in this deal and we have nothing left for them in the off season if the Peavy talks are to resume.
