  1. No we can't do that. We gave him a two year contract. He probably has about 3 mil left. If we could trade him to some team willing to pick up 1 mil Id take it.
  2. But he doesn't bat left-handed. And he's terrible. I'd rather play with a 24 man roster than with So Taguchi. World series winner. 2x. Intangibles, fundamentals, feel for the game, other cliches... Plus if he were a woman Tony LaRusa would date him. How can you put a measurement on that? I agree on So Taguchi, but why not try Sam Fuld? Now Im not saying he'll do anything of worth, but he essentially has put up steady numbers since he was tagged as untouchable by our brilliant GM 2 or 3 years ago, so why not just put him in. Hes a lefty, so hes already in Lous graces. They say hes a pretty good fielder. Granted hed be no more than a backup, but there arent a lot of guys Id prefer Miles over.
  3. Come on Jim, we wont say so much as an I told you so. Just make it happen for that love of all that is good.
  4. Buehles been good this year. Not untouchable, but hes been very good. I just hope that Lou and Milton can kiss and make up, because we could use Milton today. Im guessing Font gets a much needed day off vs, the lefty and Freel or Blanco gets 2nd.
  5. So tell me who we have in Iowa of any use then? DuBois is the best hitter down there, but with Hoff and Fox, the last thing Lou needs is a guy without a position. Chris Robinsons been good, but we dont need 3 catchers. The only other option I could think of is rush Tyler Colvin to the majors. The only positions we really have a use for right now are a second baseman, and if they want to give Bobby Scales another shot, go for it and a back up center fielder until Reed comes back. When you have the opportunity to bring up anyone in place of Miles, go for it. No team needs nor should they have Aaron Miles, Mike Fontenot, Andres Blanco, and Ryan Freel on the same roster.
  6. Dont the Astros have a Baltimore Orioles who would have at least given them something for him? Someone will give Backe a shot.
  7. Ludwicks been terrible lately, Oaklands already has a great pen, so the Cards better be offeing up a nice prospect in that deal.
  8. Guy can't field. When ARam comes back and all corner positions on the team are full, Fox is likely to be most valuable for what he can bring back. It's going to be tough to improve this team offensively, unless some great offensive 2B is out there waiting to be acquired for Jake Fox and a mid-level prospect. But I can always hope. Still, if Fox does keep hitting, we could spend next spring training trying to get Soriano to re learn 2nd and Fox Left or train him to be the heir apparent of Lee when he departs. Remember, hes only 26, so hes not one of those 30 something AAAAers we have in Iowa. Granted, if the right deal was available, Id say move him, but I dont see any top of the line second basemen being available. DeRosas the closest thing, and Cleveland wants pitching.
  9. Exactly. Milton is no saint and his performance this year has been frustrating to say the least, but this seems like a load of crap. Dempster and especially Zambrano had what sound like much worse dugout tantrums. Hell, Marmol capped his disaster today by tossing [expletive] around the dugout. With Dempster, it was an isolated incident, however, I agree about Z. I think it might really be to try and light a fire under Milton.
  10. I dont want to trade him. Id rather find a way to get him into the lineup full time.
  11. We already have 3 other middle infielders who cant hit their way out of a paper bag, why not DL him and bring up someone like Fuld or Taguchi so we'll have someone to spell Fukudome in center every now and then, or even anothe pitcher, perhaps a loogy so Marshall can be uses as an 8th inning guy.
  12. I don't like this at all. Why trade your team HR/AB leader for mediocre talent? At least package him for something bigger. Problem with Hoff is, when Aramis returns and interleague comes to an end, Hoff and Fox are both going to be difficult to work into the lineup. As I said erlier, if they do Soriano to 2nd and Fox to left, with Hoff occasioanlly fillinf in at LF, RF, and 1B that solves part of it, but I doubt that will happen.
  13. The bottom line is that he has to stop walking guys. Sure, Sori f'ed up, but Marmol had already put himself in a bad position. I know this. Clearly Marmol needs to work on control, and clearly, Sean Marshall should be the 8th inning guy. I know it will rob Lou of his precious loogy, but Id rather our best reliever come in to face more than 1 batter per game. Problem is, until Guz returns were stuck with Marmol due to lack of options.
  14. I wonder if theres any chacne that they'd revisit the Soriano to 2nd base idea, put Fox in left and focus on aquiring bullpen help.
  15. Realistically, neither Bradley or Soriano are going to be benched for Fox and both have immoveable contracts. However, if he keeps this up, and proves that hes not the defensive black hole he was sold as, it will be hard to keep him out of the lineup, which brings me to wonder if their any chance that they'll revisit the Soriano to 2nd base idea, and give Fox LF, and that way we can focus on bullpen help at the deadline.
  16. Were stuck with him. He was given a contract that nobody will take, not to mention Hendry worked the entire damned offseason around aquiring the guy.
  17. Marmol would be claimed very quickly. The Cubs would pull him back, but it would be pretty pointless to even try. Is he out of options? I thought he was only up and down once.
  18. Say what you will about Marmol today. Granted, he wasnt good, but that play by Soriano should have been a routine pop up and there would have beem 2 down with guys on 1st and 2nd, and Carlos has worked out of those types of jams often.
  19. Marmol just needs a stint in Iowa. If hes still walking everything in site by the time Guz comes back, it needs to happen, even if it is just a short one to find his control.
  20. Isnt today the day hes supposed to take BP? And if so, how long before hes sent on a rehab? If anyone hears any news on how it goes, post away.
  21. Oh yeah, I fogot, hes struggling, as opposed to whatever the hell it is that Fontenots doing. Isn't he sitting because he tweeked his wrist and probably bruised the [expletive] out of his thigh? There was mention in rotowrod yesterday that Lou was going to sit him until Saturday due to his recent struggles, but hes back in today anyway.
  22. Oh yeah, I fogot, hes struggling, as opposed to whatever the hell it is that Fontenots doing.
  23. Despite a few good starts since his return, hopefully the Cobs dont lose site of the fact that hes still Jose Contreres. I would very much like to see: Soriano LF Theriot SS Lee 1B Fox 3B Bradley DH Hoff RF Soto C Kosuke CF Freel 2B technically, If prefer Theriot SS Freel 2B Lee 1B Fox 3B Bradley DH Sori LF Hoff RF Soto C Fuku CF but that aint gonna happen.
  24. I dont care what side of the plate he bats from, Mike Fontenot should not be in the lineup today.
